Not even the mysterious warrior robot known as "Zero" has any true grasp on what his past is, and keeps telling himself that it doesn't matter as he'll just keep looking forward. But his origins are troublesome indeed, especially since he's found himself in the ranks of Overwatch of all things...
The project was to be known as "Project Sigma", and was to be one of Hyperion's many self-claimed magnum opuses in their development of militant technology and warfare. The project's success would mean legions of new warfare soldiers swelling Hyperion's ranks, machines that'd be obedient to Jack and his desires, but also with the same amount of cognitive functions and thought level of humans, that'd increase their capabilities in the battlefield ten-fold. It was a joint project between Doctor Robotnik and Professor Hojo's divisions, and they had already made a leaping amount of progress when Handsome Jack, impatient as ever, wished for an early test of the project's labor. What followed, however, was NOT to Jack's liking.
The first 'test drive' of Project Sigma was going swell for a long while, and even Robotnik and Hojo themselves were amazed with how well they had managed to develop their new breed of murder machines... however, it was in that crucial moment that a huge development happened to the prototype right in that instant, and before their eyes. With a robot and human's cognitive functions combined, along with a human mind's capacity of empathy and emotions, there was a huge clash in the prototype's functions as it suddenly stood in the midst of a testing field filled to the brim with the corpses and robotic scraps of unfortunate 'target dummies', and it proceeded to have the human equivalent of a mental breakdown, going haywire and destroying everything around it. Jack ordered the immediate termination of Project Sigma, and so it was shut off and collapsed. Jack immediately ordered for the project to be scrapped, stating he did not want "a bunch of wack-job nut-bags running amok as soon as they saw a robot bust a gasket". And so, the remains of Project Sigma were scrapped, and ditched into the wastes of the Warzone.
It was during a survey tour by one of Overwatch's Alpha Protocol patrols that the body of the project was found, and a report was made back to base, with immediate orders of retrieval and repairs to be performed. It would take a while, but eventually, the project, who now refers to himself as "Zero", would come to life, with no recollection of his past, and with only one directive in mind; to follow the orders of Overwatch's superiors, and fight for what he perceives is right.
Drive: So far, the only thing that concerns Zero is to keep being in the service of Overwatch and doing his duties as a soldier, hacking down minions of the Krimson Bloc and Hyperion as he goes. But he does occasionally wonder of his exact origins, and wishes to explore them further...
Visuals

Visual Appearance: Being an android-like being, Zero's physical appearance and 'clothing' are one and the same, his armor being part of his own body. Yet, he has a lot of human qualities, such as his head and face which are fair-skinned, his eyes having a blue sheen to them, and even having a long mane of blonde hair which he usually keeps up in a long ponytail behind him. His torso consists of red-and-white armor plates, with green bulbous spheres on either side of his chest. His shoulders are covered with round white pads of armor, both of which have a big "Z" emblazoned upon them. His lower arms and hands are red and white as well, and his right lower arm is able to convert into one of his main weapons, the Zero Buster. Finally, his lower legs and feet are covered by red and white armor-boots.
Clothing/Armor: Zero does not have much in ways of armor, other than a red and white helmet with a blue crystal lodged into the center of it.
Personality
Zero is very much an asocial person, but not by his own choice, really. The uncertainty of his past and his all-too-sudden reawakening has left him unable to truly develop any real 'feelings' for most things, and he is slowly learning to respond to different situations. But as it stands, Zero is rather curt and blunt when speaking to people, not wishing to mince too many words in a conversation he finds important, and will verbally lash out at anyone who "wastes time" with him. He is not below apologizing when he feels he has done wrong however, but will still do so in a rather short and concise manner. He is always focused on his main mission no matter the scenario, and will see it through no matter what, even if it means going against orders now and then, so long as it has a promising outcome to the situation.
Weapons/Items
Zero Saber - A weapon that he had custom-made by some of Overwatch's Engineering Corps' most bright minds, it is a blade weapon of condensed plasma energy that Zero is able to wield with great finesse and power. The blade itself being made of super-heated energy means that most basic armor cannot withstand it, and he has even been shown to be able to cut projectiles in half with it, or if they are also energy-based, he is able to 'deflect' them with his sword.
Abilities/Powers
Swordsmanship - Having only recently been given the weapon, it's surprised the Engineering Corps just how quickly Zero has taken to train and perform with his Zero Saber, to the point where he is nearly considered a master-rank swordsman with how he wields and utilizes it.
Roleplay Sample
"Zero! The mission is about to wrap up! Eliminate the last pursuers and report back to the EVAC unit immediately!"
The orders were loud and clear in Zero's comm unit, as he sat ducked behind a field of debris, saber in hand as its glow hums in rhythm with his heartbeat, glancing over to spot the massive battle machine approaching his position, cannons primed and ready to obliterate literally everything in sight. This was a tall order, but Zero knew he was capable of the job. It's what he's been made for, after all... or what he knew he was made for. No, hesitation can wait for another time. It was time to get the job done now!
And so, with a firm grip of his saber, he'd rush out of cover, the landship's sensors locking in on him near-immediately as the cannons primed, and with thundering sounds it fired a salvo that laid waste to a huge area of land, but with Zero's speed he managed to evade the first salvo, and dive in for one of the mechanoid's legs, cutting its foot clean off with a slice of his saber, sparks and molten metal flying through the air as the machine did its best to counterbalance its body. But soon enough its other foot on the same side was sliced off as well, causing the whole thing to tilt over and collapse onto its side.
Zero rushes in for the kill, dashing across the wastelands as he leaps into the air, but the machine's turret spins around, still active and ready, as it fires off a salvo of shells straight into the air. Zero closes his eyes and prays silently, his saber lighting up bright green, as he then spins through the air, the saber following suit as he momentarily turns into a spinning "ball" of green, as his saber cuts one of the shells coming right for him clean in half, at which Zero unfurls himself and dives right at the machine's "face" section, and lands with a firm downward stab of his saber straight into the center of mass, and into the machine's core. He sinks it as far in as he can with a vicious cry of rage and battle-lust, as the core sizzles and detonates from the blade's hot plasma piercing it. The machine convulses momentarily, before its top-half erupts into a blast of flames, with Zero being launched into the air, and tumbling onto the dunes a good few dozen feet away.
He was battered, but alive, and the mission done. He stumbles up to his feet, before responding to his comms unit, which was going rampant with the operator demanding a status update.
"... This is Zero. The target's been terminated. Awaiting EVAC unit."
