Name:
Eleanora Wardwell
Alias:
Nora
Age:
20
Origin Game:
Legend of Zelda (OC)
Homeland:
Hyrule (The Kingdom)
Faction:
Gender:
Female
History:
Eleanora was born in a tiny little village close to the lost woods to very poor parents. Her mother died in childbirth, leaving only her father Heward to raise her, but despite their poverty, her father loved her with all his heart and never blamed her for the tragedy, doing his very best to raise her.
She did her best to provide to the household but what little skills she had in tailoring, or gathering herbs or whatever she could think of was not enough, spending most of what little free time she had cooking whatever she could find in the forest to put food on the table. One night however there was a knock on the door. She introduced herself as Syrup, an old witch. She told them she had seen Eleanora in the nearby forests and sensed potential in her. Neither Nora nor her father was convinced, until the old lady mumbled an incantation and turned their measly dinner into a dinner so lavish and majestic Nora and her father could eat until they almost passed out. Impressed and convinced, Nora begged her father to be allowed to train under the old witch, and so it was! She practed the archaic arts of witchcraft, potionmaking, herbalism and other professions under her mentor and once she was deemed finished, she was gifted a flying broom by Syrup. With that she returned to the village and worked a while as a midwife, herbalist and whatever else she could to provide for her father, and money was looking better.
Eventually however the townsfolk grew to fear her witchcraft, and her father Heward told her he would be fine on his own. Said and done she left the village and instead built herself a small hut in a swamp, far away from her home.
On occasion a curious adventurer came to try and kill her, only to learn she was harmless (or she scared them off, charmed them and caused them to leave or something similar). The occasional villager showed up as well, women asking for love potions, men asking for charms and spells to help with their problems. However visitors are few and far between as rumors spread that the witch in the swamp is dangerous and while it's not true, she doesn't mind the rumor as it means people leaves her alone.
Drive:
Nora's drive is to become the best witch she can be, but not for personal gain or power, instead it is so she can better help people and those she care about.
Visual Appearance:
Nora is tall for a woman, standing about 6'1 (1,86 m). She is gangly, thin and lanky with hazelnut brown waist-length hair and greyish-green eyes. She often wears heavy eyeshadow and her skin is very pale except for her cheeks and rather large, bulbous nose, which are rosy red, and a rather large mouth.
Clothing/Armor: She wears a light purple witch's hat adorned with a flower wreath, and the hat is combined with a scarf and a light cloak, making her able to cover her face leaving only her eyes visible to protect against weather or whatever else if need be. She wears a light chainmail armor on top of a crimson tunic to protect against incoming attacks, having been attacked more than once by both monsters and people. Her right shoulder has a spiked shoulderpad, and her left arm is wrapped in a purple bandage while the other one is bare. On her lower body Nora wears a pair of baggy, patched beige-brown pants, held in place by a crimson belt with a brass belt buckle and black adornments. To round out her outfit she wears a pair of deep purple, pointy shoes.
Personality
Due to her lanky, almost spider-like frame and her large lips and bulbous nose, Nora is seen as ugly by some, and she was always a bit weird as a kid. This has affected her self-esteem. Outwards she's a reserved, snarky and sarcastic woman who only offer small smiles and rarely laughs. Despite her outward unfriendliness Nora is nurturing and caring towards people, often cooking food, bandaging wounds and making sure those around her are okay. If one comes to visit her swamp hut she won't let you leave until you're well fed and properly prefer, even if she seems annoyed that you're there. Some people like witches, others chase them off with pitchforks and fire, which is why she's reserved and guarded towards people she meets.
Weapons/Items
Eleanora does not have any weapons, but she does have a component pouch in her belt, from which she takes out reagents to cast her spells. It contains everything from dried lizard tails to pulverized moblin guts and everything inbetween.
Flying Broom: Nora rarely travels anywhere, prefering to stick to her swamp but every now and then she sets out to gather reagents and similar things or if wanderlust strikes she can use her trusty flying broom, a gift from her mentor Syrup, to travel Hyrule in style!
Familiar: To keep her company, Nora has a winged cat that has been enchanted with the ability to talk. His name is Grimalkin and he is a very good boy.
Abilities/Powers
Charms, enchantments, hexes and more, archaic magic and witchcraft galore
Eleanora uses an archaic version of magic, using reagents as a catalyst for her magic while uttering incantations. These range from crushed bat wings, frozen monster hearts as well as various herbs and other reagents. Her magic is less offensive than most as she doesn't throw around fireballs and lightning bolts instead her magic revolves more around bedazzling her opponents minds, blinding, confusing, hypnotizing and enchanting them. She can also enchant items to work on their own, like having a soup ladle stir her cauldron on its own, or enchant objects to become animated.
That being said she has some offensive magic such as hexes, cursed and there are those who claim she knows necromancy. As a witch her magic is very diverse and useful even if it's not capable of teleporting mountains or warp reality, she can provide a lot of utility.
She can also weave and create charms that provide a variety of benefits such as shield charms, charms that makes the wielder more resistance to fire and more.
Double double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble
Eleanora is an accomplished potionmaker, and can brew elixirs, draughts, potions and more. Love potion? Done. Healing potions? Absoulutely, and a whole slew of concotions. Being a witch she can also tap into a very unique source of magic where she can scry a location she has seen before or talk to a person she has met before via her cauldron, the limitation obviously being that she needs a cauldron with at least water in it for this to work.
Other
She has a bit of a nasal, dragged-out voice. Imagine a female version of Snape.
