"There's no honour in bloodshed. It is a necessity, not a need, one that we, the Gotei 13, must endure."

Physical Description
Mitsuko is a lithe and lean woman. A toned, muscular body lies beneath pale skin, every inch honed into perfection to make her the perfect killing machine. Mitsuko's eyes are a vivid, piercing green. They say they are her most defining features, flashing like a tiger in the shadows when she is mad, shining bright like the sun when she is happy. Mitsuko's hair is long, so pale that it is nearly white. She regularly keeps it tied in a ponytail, short bangs and fringe while the back reaches nearly down to her knees. Mitsuko's hair is a point of pride, and she keeps it in meticulous condition.
Clothing/Misc. Items
Mitsuko wears a modified shihakusho. A skin-tight kosode covers from her neck to her stomach, showing off bare shoulders and back. Her hakama are standard, save for the hems which are woven with gold, and held up by a silken gold belt. Mitsuko wears black and gold wrist gauntlets and black tabi which allow her toes freedom to move. She wears no waraji. Over all of this, Mitsuko wears a sleeveless Captain's haori, adorned either the number of the 9th Division.
Beneath her clothes, hidden about her person, Mitsuko wears many concealed blades that can surprise her enemies when they least suspect it. Her ponytail bun is held up by two long black needles, both of which are sharpened to deadly points.
Sexuality
Homosexual
Goals
Mitsuko never aimed upwards. She always looked in, honing her skills and her body to be able to defend her friends and allies. Her one goal is to make sure nobody dies under her watch, and that everyone behind her know they won't fall while she still stands tall.
General Personality
Mitsuko is generally an upbeat and cheery woman, friendly to everyone she meets, even if they are enemies. She never rushes into a fight, always searching for the non-violent route out of an altercation if she can. Mitsuko valued the safety of her allies and subordinates over her own, though test isn't to say she is willing to throw her life away. For her, a tactful retreat is just as strategic as going into direct combat.
That isn't to say she doesn't enjoy fighting. Mitsuko might not find honour there, but there is a feral part of her that revels in the clashing of swords and dancing engagement of two warriors. She is vicious and wild, especially when her zanpakuto comes into play, never holding back an inch when she has been released onto her enemies. Mitsuko is a vengeful storm of steel and blood.
She is a very patient and calm individual, hard to rile up and able to sit still for hours on end without growing bored. In battle, Mitsuko takes time to analyse her enemy, watching movements, gauging strengths and finally using all of that information to end the fight in a single, well-placed blow.
History
Blood, Bone, Steel, Stone
There are plenty of abandoned souls on the edge of the world of the Shinigami. Spat out into death, to scrape a living in the dark pits of Soul Society. Kubo Mitsuko was one of these poor orphans, left cold and alone on the outskirts of Rukongai District 66. She fought to survive from day one, hungry and wild like an animal. Mitsuko spent her early years as a vagrant, stealing food and killing where she had to. Rough and untamed, she skipped through the district unseen, a lone soul only looking out for herself.
Wrong place, right time
Mitsuko's many years of hunger and pain were interrupted by a single event. A hollow tore through the village she favoured most, killing impartially and threatening to reduce the whole place to blood and Ash. Mitsuko was fleeing, but saw the Hollow bearing down on a family of souls that had taken pity on her a few times. Something took over her in that moment. She found her body moving on its own, leaping in front of the Hollow to save the family. Mitsuko's sacrifice was honourable, but stupid. If it hadn't been for the Onmitsukido stepping in at the last moment, she would have been dead and gone. Their blades were fast and clean, and dispatched the beast in an instant. One of them looked down at the wild vagrant girl. You have courage, wild one, they spoke. Come visit the Shino Academy soon. We can use strong souls like you.
The Academy
Mitsuko made a long journey to the first district of Rukongai. She didn't know why, not really. She knew she enjoyed fighting, especially to protect others as she had discovered very recently. So Mitsuko followed her instincts, and found herself on their doorstep. It took a day and a night for them to accept her inside, as she was very insistent. Mitsuko could wait out a stone if she needed to. They trained her hard, and she took all lessons on board. Zanjutsu was her strong suit, and she was known for her skill with any blade. Half way through her studies, the Onmitsukido indeed came to her, moving her into a special class of the academy that honed her to suit the stealthy world of assassins and ninjas. Mitsuko graduated into the Royal bodyguard of the Shihoin household, serving for a brief time under Shihoin Yoruichi until she defected from Soul Society. After that, Mitsuko moved into th3 second division as a seated officer and member of the Onmitsukido, working her way through various divisions within the stealth force, growing her body and abilities as she went.
Traitors in the Shadows
Mitsuko was fourth seat of the Second Division when the Ryoka invaded Soul Society, as well as the head of the Detention Unit and the Maggot's Nest. She was spending most of her time training to release her Bankai, something she did a month before Sosuke Aizen and his two traitorous Captains enacted their plans to steal the Hogyoku and escape from Soul Society. The Gotei were in disarray, three holes torn into it by deliberate hands. So when they called for any shinigami who had achieved bankai to step forward, Mitsuko felt like she had to. For the sake of Seretei, and Shinigami who needed a leader, a sword and a shield. She revealed her Bankai to Soifon, and had two other Captains witness her power. It showed her prowess that they seemed satisfied that Mitsuko could indeed take on the Mantle of Captain. It has only been a short while, but Mitsuko hopes to turn the 9th Division around after her appointment, drawing her new subordinates out of their weary despair after Tousen's betrayal, and forward to a better, stronger future.

Physical Abilities/Power
Mitsuko's shun-po is Onmitsukido trained. She is fast, quiet and able to flash in and out of a fight without easy detection.
Her hakuda is excellent, and she is able to hold her own without drawing her blade, even against an armed opponent.
Her zanjutsu is famed among the Onmitsukido and in her previous Divisions. She has mastered a hundred different styles, being able to pick up any wrapon and know the most effective method of using it to defeat an enemy. This is further reflected in her Bankai. Mitsuko's martial combat is raw and unrefined, but she is known for her improvisation in combat and defeating enemies by her unpredictability alone. She has even been training to wield weapons with her feet and mouth.
Her reiatsu isn't the most impressive out of the heads of the Gotei 13, but she still boasts a great power worthy of her new title of Captain.
Mitsuko's strength is vast, and while physical power isn't her strong suit, she can still land blows hard enough to shatter buildings.
Her endurance is also highly regarded, and she can keep her body moving even in high stress for a longer time than average.
Kido
Mitsuko only knows the very basic Kido without incantations, a skill she has never truly had a knack for.
Zanpakuto
Kyuushin Iishou; "Nine deaths, one life"
The sealed blade takes the form of a standard katana, with a simple square guard and a gold-wrapped hilt.
Kyuushin Iishou's spirit is a nine-headed crane that stands stoic and still in the middle of a great reflective pool. Each head has a different personality, reflecting nine different emotions.
Shikai
"Ittouryoudan, Kyuushin Iishou" ("Cut in two with one stroke")
Mitsuko raises the blade above her head, then brings it around in an arc until it is facing directly downwards. Nine mirrored blades appear as the blade turns, hovering in the air behind Mitsuko lime a halo.
When Mitsuko swings her blade, she can also manipulate one or more blades to follow suit. If she swings it at an opponent, she can make one or more blades follow in its footsteps, striking multiple times for one swing. She can point her blade at an enemy and fire the mirror blades like projectiles. Once a blade strikes something, it will shatter after a few seconds. Once Mitsuko has used up all nine blades, they will regenerate.
Bankai
Kyuushin Iishou Wabi-Sabi ;"Nine deaths, one life, imperfect beauty")From the main zanpakuto, a hundred blades of light shoot out over a large radius. Each one is a weapon, some standard, some unique, many not like any blade that one might think to fight with.
Apart from the base power increase, Mitsuko doesn't receive any boost or ability from Kyuushin Iishou Wabi-Sabi. Instead, it grants her access to a hundred different weapons which she can use as she pleases. Each one is attached to a sash around her waist by Reiraki, and Mitsuko can use these to pull weapons towards her. She can fight to her full extend, using every skill in zanjutsu that she has been training since her time as a Shinigami. Indeed, she can increase her martial potential, fighting with two blades, greatswords, polearms, whatever is close to hand to overwhelm her enemies.

She stood before the closed doors, staring deeply at nothing. The imperfections of the wood, the Swirling colours of paint that had been completed not long before her arrival. Mitsuko's eyes traced the lines, the seam down the centre, that lead beyond to... what, exactly? Mitsuko gave a little sigh. She wasn't quite sure.
It had only been an hour since she had been sworn in as a Captain. Over her shoulders, Mitsuko had draped the haori, one that not days before had been worn by a secret traitor. She sighed again, taking a deep breath.
Calm. Collected. Mitsuko was all of those things, despite her beating heart. Captain... it still sounded foreign to her. She was used to leading, but never really thought she would stand here, head of an entire division, the weight of Seretei on her shoulders.
She took a deeper breath, a long sigh from her nose. Mitsuko adjusted her robe so it was straight, sorted out her fringe to look immaculately messy... and reached out her hands to the door.
She looked down upon a waiting crowd of Shinigami. Nervous, timid, betrayed. Mitsuko swept her gaze across each one, then rested two fingers against her forehead.
"Yo! Good morning, squad nine. Who's ready for some sparring?"
She grinned at their confusion. What they needed was to take their minds off of what had just happened... and what was to come. She shivered, despite herself. So, Mitsuko thought, did she.
