Trifas, Romania
Yggdmillennia Castle
The Magus Association was no stranger to the odd clan here or there. Rather, a magus clan possessing oddities was something of the norm, each having their own self-professed goal that spanned generations with some elite few predating the Association itself be they a path to the Root or some other self-important goal that required decades of research. Some had even gone as far as merging and diversifying their bloodlines in the pursuit of knowledge and sacrificing that same blood, consequences be damned, so long as they were the ones to reach the final conclusion. And yet, despite all of that, the Yggdmillennia were a truly strange clan. Not because of their own goal was a radically, new and unorthodox goal. The goal of Yggdmillennia was the same as so very many mages of wildly varying quality: To reach the Root. No, what made them so strange compared to their peers in the Association was that they were not a single bloodline but a true amalgamation of bloodlines operating under the same banner, many of whom were but a generation or two strong. Or, perhaps, weak was a more appropriate description. Truthfully, the majority of those who bore the Yggdmillennia name were no more than dying lines, the untested or otherwise exiled from the Association. It was only through the family head’s machinations that Yggdmillennia continued to exist, unworthy of the Association’s attention. The unexpected resurgence of the Holy Grail War changed that. Originally from the Far East, it was a somewhat convoluted ritual that would, upon completion, grant a wish to its winner with no strings attached (allegedly). The validity of such a thing had been dubious at best (the ritual had been attempted no less than five times at this point) but it had been enough to turn heads, those of the Yggdmillennia included. Fiore Forvedge was one of many whose ears perked up the wild notion. At present, Fiore was by her lonesome within the fortress’ exceptionally large (and impeccably maintained) flower garden, mulling over her thoughts on what was to come over a cup of tea. It was no secret amongst the clan that their leader, Darnic Prestone Yggdmillennia, had shown an uncharacteristic amount of enthusiasm at the development but as one of the few to be considered amongst their most talented members, Fiore had been made privy to the possibility of an open rebellion on his part with the Holy Grail serving as a core to his plans. That didn’t surprise her in the slightest. What did surprise her was how quickly things had begun to be set in motion, almost as if Yggdmillennia had been preparing for such an occasion for decades. Several members had already performed their own summoning rituals (those who had been chosen as Masters at least) and more were expected to join before warfare truly began. That she hadn’t summoned her own was something of an anomaly considering how talented she was, albeit at the cost of her own physical prowess. Eying her the three command spells on her hand, Fiore’s gaze soon shifted to her legs and sighed. Both of them, lame for as long as she could remember. The reason she was chosen was obvious. A wish to walk like a normal person again while still walking the path of a magus. A selfish one compared to countless others but it was still hers. She could only hope she would live long enough to see it through…

The man Gordes Musik Yggdmillennina was a pragmatic man, yes. Efficient and direct, also correct. He was a magus who took his craft quite seriously, so much so that he at times wondered if he was the only one in Yggdmillennia who did. The Yggdmillennia "family business" was a strange and sordid affair, not the least of which was the task- tasks that lay before them. What those tasks were, Gordes did not yet know, but he had never permitted the absence of clarity to deter his discipline. At the very least, the mages of Yggdmillennia needed to be in order before they set out for the world. Far too many developments were transpiring across the globe, and they needed to gather that intelligence before the Association got there first. A daunting task, given the sheer disparity of resources between them. To be candid, to call it a disparity was generous. There was an ocean of difference between Yggdmillennia and Clock Tower. Nevertheless, Gordes felt confident about their prospects. Moral victories were among the greatest one could aspire to.
The less said of his Servant on that matter, the better. The woman in question was a vexing personality, made more vexing still that she could not be more Gordes' opposite. Flamboyant. Carefree. Promiscuous. The Grail was fickle, indeed. Cruel, even, to laden him with such burdens. Perhaps this was to ever be his lot in life. If Gordes Musik Yggdmillennia needed to be the great pillar upon which many dreams relied, then so Gordes Musik Yggdmillennia would be.
This was all prologue. Gordes was lost in these mental ramblings, as he so often was, while he was entering the flower garden, with the aforementioned vixen well in tow. There seemed to be no ridding of her, Servant laws be damned. Gordes certainly wasn't going to do something so foolish as to spend a Command Seal to inspire discipline. Upon seeing a familiar face, Gordes directed his attention to Fiore, rather than worry about his hanger-on. Gordes was not the most affable man, though he smiled and waved to her a he approached. They hadn't crossed paths that often, but they knew of each other at least.
"Fiore! You are..." Gordes pauses, pulling out a pocketwatch to check the time. "Right on time. I beg your pardon." He looks to the tea. One whiff, and the man smiles approvingly. "Your taste is impeccable, my dear."
Gordes quickly sits down. Hopefully, Saber would not have an opportunity to cut in. He reaches for the tea kettle to pour his own cup, then setting it down on a saucer with a clink. "How has Trifas been treating you? Well, I hope."

The wheelchair-bound mage gave a light wave to her portly senior as well as the red-haired woman trailing a ways behind him, a small giggle escaping as he wound up taking second place in their meeting. “Hehe, I wanted to get here a little early and enjoy the scenery,” Fiore replied with a smile, a light breeze rolling through the garden. The cool air was nice this time of year and, despite being surrounded by walls built upon walls on high, the garden’s atmosphere hadn’t been dampened in the slightest. It almost made her forget that, outside of the sizeable slice of nature and its walls, there was a war brewing in the world of Magi.
“It’s certainly different from the Forvedge estate. I don’t think I’ve seen such a spacious hideaway before, not within such a storied castle as this, at least. I actually quite prefer the quietness compared to London.” That not a flowerbed or patch of greenery looked out of sorts was a testament to not just the homunculi who maintained it but Yggdmillenia as a whole. A family line that lasted some few centuries while rebuffing the Clock Tower and absorbing the odd family here and there. It was quite inspiring in its own way, the downtrodden and otherwise forgotten becoming part of something much bigger.
Not that she personally had a say in such matters but that was neither here nor there.
Taking a sip of her own, Fiore eyed the older man across from her as another breeze rolled in, noting the sudden lack of a certain someone. It seemed that, once again, that his better half (not that he would ever describe her as such) was either keeping a low profile or simply abstained from the quiet talk for both their sakes. Or perhaps for his sake, Fiore mused before setting her cup down. “How have your preparations been faring? I understand your partner has been somewhat…trying, to put it politely…”

Mmm. Indeed, the assorted Yggdmillennina estate was remarkable. Hearing Fiore talk of home reminded him of his own. He was not in a mind to compare the two, so different as they were, but even he had to regret that he was here and not there. To be Yggdmillennia was to be forever homesick. For his own estate, certainly, but for the society that he had chosen to leave behind. For all its bitter complications, it was the world as it was. To Fiore, Gordes' ruminations offered a distant stare and a wrinkling of his upper lip.
"It has given me time to think, and plan." Gordes paused, then allowed himself to smile. "And rest. The Romanian countryside is a welcome reprieve."
Gordes reached for his cup to take another sip. When Fiore mentioned his partner, his lips stopped short of reaching his cup. He all but winced before carefully setting the cup back down. He meshed his hands together, sheepishly resting them on his side of the table. "That is... true, yes. We find ourselves in strange times. It is only fitting that we are met with strange acquaintances."
A thought occurred to him. It was a poor one, better suited for the likes of Roche or Celenike. He had heard rumors of Fiore's own troubles as it was. It would not do to remind her of what she already knew. "I have spent the past week establishing the wards for the castle and nearby. Pending arrangements, My Servant and I will be making for continental Europe. We do not know how far the Association has cast its web. They may well already be searching for us."
The man's foppish demeanor gave way to unfamiliar bravado. He placed a hand against his chest, a touch vain. "I intend to give them the greeting they deserve."

Ah.
It was slight but the subject of his Servant was still a touchy one, not that she blamed him. Despite being the sword they would bring against the Association, they were rather…unconventional, she supposed. Fiore could only hope her own would prove more conventional after their summoning. Thankfully, the older man didn’t let the talk linger on that particular aspect.
“You’ve certainly turned it into a fortress in record time, even Lord Darnic was impressed by your talents,” Fiore commented between sips of her own tea. If there was one thing the Yggdmillennia head had proven, it was that he had a clear eye for the gifted, even if Clock Tower saw otherwise. The patriarch was rather open in his praise for not just Fiore herself but those among them who fell beneath the Clock Tower’s unreasonable standards. A pity that such a fundamental difference in outlook would bring them to blows…
But that aside, holing up within their stronghold was quite different than meeting the enemy head-on and the concern on Fiore’s face was at odds with her opposite’s confidence. Concern that threatened to give way to a nervous grimace as the older man’s better half made their presence known. His work was certainly cut out for him.
“Do not fret, mademoiselle. Maitre will be the very picture of health upon our return.”
A third voice cut into the conversation as another breeze rolled in from behind the alchemist, the very air shimmering as a figure strode out of the ether. A head full of vibrant, red hair and a slender figure clothed in the garb of an 18th century nobleman, a rapier fastened to her hip. The Servant, Saber, said to be the strongest of the seven classes. She held a smile and confidence that dwarfed that of her Master and, for better or worse, she was the one to answer his summons for their rise against Clock Tower. Without missing a beat she had already taken up the man’s own cup for herself, savoring its aroma as she took a sip of her own.
“A good blend, wouldn’t you say, Maitre?”
