Physical Description
Reika is a small-statured and short. Standing barely at four foot and weighing shy of 60lbs, she is by no means an intimating figure. Her features are delicat, framed by a soft bob of vaguely curly hair. Reika's eyes are perhaps the only thing of note, a vibrant orange reminiscent of the sunrise.
Clothing/Misc. Items
Reika's uniform takes the form of a knee-length dress with a thin white belt around her middle, adorned with a white lapel. Her shoes are black, more akin to a pair that you might find on a schoolchild. Her Captain's haori is sleeveless, drapes down to her ankles and is adorned with the Division 9 insignia. Reika wears her zanpakuto slung over her back.
Sexuality
None
Goals
Use her freedom to the fullest, fulfilling her role as a Captain of the Gotei to protect Sereteii and those close to her.
General Personality
On the surface, Reika comes across as a cold, emotionless girl. Her eyes are void, closed off from the outside world as to her true intent. She is polite, quiet and stands out very little among the other colourful characters of the Gotei 13.
Yet beneath this surface lies a calculating and intelligent being. Reika never walks into a fight unprepared, and always has a plan, plus a back-up plan and another in her back pocket. She is a grand tactician, and isn't above dirty tactics to win a fight in the quickest and least painful way.
Reika makes friends slowly and with difficulty. Those she has made, she keeps close to her chest with a fierce loyalty. She would even lay her life on the line to protect her friends, even if it meant risking her loyalty to the Gotei and Seretei. Her friends always come first.
History
The Kamiizumi clan was a low ranking Noble house within Soul Society, having served for over three hundred years. Every Kamiizumi member was spiritually proficient, and they had been loyal members of the Gotei 13 since their founder was granted the title of a Nobleman.
Such as it was that Kamiizumi Rieka was born into this rich-blooded noble family. She was the fourth child of the youngest brother of that generation, one of several Kamiizumi that showed a spiritual prowess from a young age and had all the bearings of a great Shinigami. Rieka was trained from a young age in all the skills she needed to one day take a seat among the Captains of the Gotei 13, both in combat and in leadership, tactics and (most importantly for a member of the Kamiizumi clan) proper manners and etiquette.
Rieka was the first of her siblings and cousins to enter the Shin'o Academy. Her skills with a blade were noted, and her abilities were applauded. She would indeed become a fine Soul Reaper after several years of refinement and tutoring. It was all going well, until Rieka learnt the true name of her zanpaku-to, and released it before a gathering of her peers.
Such was the vile power of Nioisuke, that a dozen recruits had to be taken to the infirmary, many more taken ill and given powerful headaches from the stench that emanated from the blade. Rieka could only watch it dumbfounded horror as her ability manifested. It was total power over the sense of smell and taste, overwhelming and grim.
Rieka found herself scrutinised by many of her teachers. Such a unique ability was intruiging, but there was also a danger they saw. Nioisuke didn't differentiate between friend or foe, and could easily be used against either. They passed on this information to the Gotei 13, continuing to train Rieka, albeit ordering her to keep her blade sealed unless under strict supervision.
It was a time of civil unrest in Soul Society, and word of Rieka's power reached a paranoid Central 46. They were wary of Nioisuke, as well as a handful of other prospective Shinigami who had similar, destructive abilities. If they were swayed by the enemy, then the damage this group could cause would potentially turn the tide against the Gotei. Central 46 made a calculated decision to protect themselves and the Seretei. Rieka, and others who showed powers that could be used for the wrong side of a civil war, would be arrested without trial, and imprisoned in the deepest portion of the Maggot's Nest. Their potential threat to Seretei had to be taken care of, before it was too late.
The family caught wind of the plan to incarcerate Rieka. They set about crafting a defence at their home to protect her, but the attack was swift, vicious and left no survivors. Even the ranked Shinigami in the family were butchered, leaving Rieka alone and unguarded. She gave up the fight. Her family was gone, her sword taken, and nothing remained for her to live for. Rieka was taken to the deepest level of the Maggot's Nest, and resided there for over two centuries.
At first, she lived in solitary depression. Then, as time went on, Rieka began to open up. She made friends with other prisoners, creating a small squad of like-minded people to spend her time with. She helped them grow, as some couldn't read, and some had never been tutored like Rieka had. She protected them, and they protected her. Her Hakuda grew too, even with the rule of no fighting in the nest. When Rieka had to fight, she did so with gusto, and became well known for her combat skills within the Maggot's Nest. She was friendly with the guards, however, and never caused trouble.
So when the Captain-Commander of the Gotei brought her before him, supervised by Captain Soifon of the Onmitsukido, Rieka wasn't sure what to think. They were offering her a way out of the Maggot's Nest, and even her childhood goal of a Captain's Robe. Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto told her that they saw her potential. The old Central 46 had been wiped out by a man named Aizen Sosuke, and the Gotei required a new Captain to defend Seretei.
Rieka accepted. She held no ill will against the Gotei, and the beurocrats that had locked her up were long dead. So she accepted. Accepted for the memory of her parents and siblings, of the family long extinguished. Rieka received Nioisuke back, and was trained intensively by Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto himself. She had been spiritually strong before her incarceration and had lost none of the potency there. Rieka obtained her bankai on day 6, and her position was cemented when three Captains watched her perform a day later.
Now, Rieka heads towards the 9th Division headquarters. She has achieved her goal, but what else was there to do? She had to look forward, try and rehabilitate herself into this strange new world, and prepare for the war to come.

Physical Abilities/Power
Zanjutsu
Rieka was considered a highly skilled swordsman in the Academy, and is a skilled opponent with a blade.
Hakuda
After several centuries in the Maggot's Nest, Rieka has developed an immense skill in hand-to-hand combat. She can hold her own against an armed enemy even without drawing her blade, a skill only rivalled by members of the Onmitsukido.
Kido
Rieka can't cast any Hado over #15 without an incantation, but she can cast all Bakudo within her akillset without incantation.
Hoho
Rieka is adept at shunpo, able to cross long distances in a few seconds, as well as using it at close range to both avoid attacks and reduce the distance between her and an opponent in an instant. She hasn't developed any special techniques, however.
Sense of smell
Reika has an abnormally strong sense of smell, and can sniff out anyone in a wide vicinity of her person with ease.
Kido
Hado #1 through #35
Bakudo #1 through #43
Zanpakuto
Nioisuke; "Stench"
Nioisuke takes the sealed form of a long katana, almost as long as Rieka is tall. The guard is plain and black, a simple oval that reaches into a black wrapped hilt. The sheath is decorated with flowers down the length, and is slung over Rieka's back.
Nioisuke's spirit takes the form of a shadowy, oozing figure, shadowed beneath an enormous hat that takes the form of a wide-capped black mushroom. Nioisuke's spirit world is a dense and humid jungle, with a thick canopy overhead and mossy peat underfoot. The air is thick, yet sweet in scent, a thousand flowers in bloom.
Shikai
Shinkokyu, Ashusuke; "Deep Breath"
When released, Ashusuke's blade begins to release any scent that Rieka desires. The intensity of the scent can be controlled on release as well, increasing the range and power that the smells have. However, Rieka can only choose one scent with each release, and must seal her blade and release to change it.
Human scent
The smell of a human, which is used to confuse and disorientated Hollows in the field.
Reishi scent
The smell of Shinigami and Hollows, a confusing scent that combines both into a fragrance made to disorientate anyone in the vicinity, hiding Rieka's own scent and anyone else with a reishi body.
Sleeping scent
Avery lulling smell that gradually dulls the senses and takes opponents towards the brink of sleep.
Death scent
Rieka's most potent and dangerous smell, it is a thick, vile and pungent stench of death, rot and foul odours. The scent is so thick that it clogs the nostrils and throat, pouring into anyone that draws breath. Anyone who continuously breaths this scent will find themselves brought to their knees with sickness, vomit in their throat and their head swimming with nausea.
Bankai
Shishusuke; "Stench of Death"
When released, Shishusuke's blade withers and decays, visually looking like a black, rotting log that has been moulded into a sword. From it comes a rich, intense version of Ashusuke's Death Scent, except even more potent. A faint white mist releases from the blade, which spreads out across a growing area around Rieka. Black mushrooms sprout along the blade, which is in no way reduced in its cutting ability.
Shishusuke releases fungal spores into the air upon release. These waft and drift around Rieka, only visible as a wisp of cloud and sticking to anything they cross. As soon as these spores find a home, they bloom into black, withered mushrooms. These mushrooms exude a powerful rotting stench, extending Ashusuke's ability over a wide radius. The spores grow on anything, even flesh, and can be inhaled if not careful. The only place they don't grow is Rieka herself, and the fungi won't vanish until the blade is sealed. By swinging Ashusuke in an arc, Rieka can target a cloud of spores at her targets, making it difficult for them not to inhale or be covered by the mushrooms and their death stench.

The bell rang out for the morning assembly. Reika sat with a blank face, staring at the wall of her new office. She heard the shuffling of sandals, Shinigami of her new Division gathering for perhaps the thousandth time. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath.
"Captain... are you ready?"
A gentle knock was followed by the tentative voice, and Reika's eyes opened partially. She hadn't thought about this day since the moment she had been placed into the Maggot's Nest... but now she was here. She took a deep breath. Nothing scared her now, nothing worried her. The Nest had ground her down and built her back up.
She placed a hand on the sliding door that lead into the barracks, where a rank and file of her new officers waited. She opened it up, sunlight of a new day spilling across her. Captain Reika stepped forward, towards a new day.
