Background:
Alison was born into a mundane family of consultants and teachers. They were not necessarily well-off, nor did they want for much. Alison’s parents were able to provide for her and her baby sister, and, as far as Alison could understand, had a great life. Unfortunately for her parents, Alison developed a feverish obsession with sports and social activities, especially tennis and theatre. They did their best to hide their disappointment, channeling their love for their eldest in supporting whatever it was that she wanted to do with her life. … almost everything.
It wasn’t that Alison’s mom and dad wouldn’t support it (though, all things considered, they probably wouldn’t have). It was that they wouldn’t understand it. They never would, if Alison had anything to say about it. Though it had felt like a chance encounter at the time, and for many years afterward, Alison eventually realized that it couldn’t have been anything but fate itself. It was a calling that to this day she cannot entirely explain. A magical, flying, talking cat - which by itself should have been enough of a red flag - calling himself Promise appeared to Alison… well, “promising” something that, deep down, she knew that she had always wanted, but had never been able to fully explain or realize within herself, until this apparent moment. She didn’t know what to make of it; what was she supposed to think, or to say, to something like that? She went along with this dream, thinking that it couldn’t possibly be anything based in reality. Later that week, she met the dragon.
And it was, literally, a dragon. That was about all that Alison could make out at the time. Whether it was a dream or not, she knew that whatever was happening was very much real, and that given everything else that was going on in her life at the time, she had an inkling of what all of this “magical girl” business was getting at… at least with her. She seized on the opportunity, establishing her contract with this “Dragon of the Far Mists”. In an instant, she saw other realms in her mind’s eye, at once becoming aware of the universe that she was stepping into, and the role that she would no doubt be playing in them in the looming future… and then there was also high school to worry about.
Juggling this ethereal life of being an elf princess or whatever being “Draconis Gemini” meant and freshman year at Buster High was a hellworld that Alison would have preferred goblin hordes over (and there were plenty of those). Over the following years, Alison has only honed her power as a Magical Girl, becoming increasingly familiar with the magical world just out of reach of the mortal, and the many wonders and dangers that it holds. To help her settle into that responsibility and others yet to come, Alison joined the Rainbow Coven, a secret yet also not-so-secret “union” of witches of all colors and schools. The Violet Path has offered many enticing things to Alison, not the least of which is the offer of exploring her other side even further, a threshold that she knew she would approach sooner or later. This doesn’t even begin to cover Alison’s pressing responsibilities as one of the best students at Buster High, or the captain of the varsity tennis team, or a star actor in the student troupe, or the class president, or what she plans to do after high school, or… What matters is that that “later” has finally come, which may at last force her to choose which of the twin lives of Alison Maryanne McGuire will continue to exist.
Appearance
Profile:
Description:
Alison is a rather unassuming high school girl. She is the spitting image of the girl next door, a pretty yet practical girl, dressing modestly, yet not nearly as fashionably as her peers. She tends to stick to familiar outfits, often leaning towards the school uniform (what there is of one) and formal clothing that most people wouldn’t start thinking about seriously wearing until they were grown adults. Vests, dress skirts, polos, hairbands, and the like are about all there is to Alison’s wardrobe. The most casual thing she wears are her tennis shoes and uniform when she is out playing tennis, and even that is couched in formality for that activity. Physically she does not necessarily stand out, a bangs-bearing blonde of average height, though distinctly built due to her many extracurriculars… tennis and otherwise.
In her “business” clothes, Alison is nearly an entirely other person. Her neck-length blonde hair extends, also turning a silvery color. If not for that, then the pointing of her ears marks her as someone certainly not human, and of a fey inclination at that. Her baby blue eyes turn a bright violet, aglow with an unmistakable mystic, darkly aura. Alison’s schoolgirl uniform turns into a dress and cloak fit for a mage, a light lavender color with bright purple accents, leaving her shoulder and collarbone exposed. Her pants and tennis shoes become crystal slippers and thigh-high stockings, giving the airs of a far-flung fantasy princess. Finally, a green crystal pendant lies over Alison’s collar, shining with that promised power.
Abilities
Gear
Crystal Choker
A green crystal pendant gifted to Alison by the unspeakable sorceress. It is considered to be the source of her power, and to which Aison’s fate is inextricably bound. It is her closest secret.
Gemini Glass
A small, darkly mirror, designed like it was from another world. There are two in existence, which may, in addition to peering into one another, scry on a subject of the user’s choice. The more information or memorabilia that the user has pertaining to the subject, the easier it will be to observe them, and harder for the user to be detected.
Fractured Daggers
Twin daggers that are broken from a matching pair. They do not seem to go with one another, seemingly asymmetrical in their design. They are touched by elven magic, and tear through magical defenses like a hot knife through better, though are rather inefficient as conventional weapons. They may also be used to channel spells.
Morellian Ring
A unique ring gifted to Alison during one of her early adventures as a Magical Girl. It shields her mind against attacks, making her immune to most illusions and charms. Though this ring makes it all but impossible for psychics and illusionists to manipulate Alison, this ring does little for her own gullibility.
Cell phone
Tennis Racket
A surprisingly normal, though very well made tennis racket. Easily Alison's second most valuable possession.
Abilities:
Draconis Contract: Gemini
Alison entered a Magical Girl contract with a creature known only as the Dragon of the Far Mists. A nigh illusive creature from beyond the boundary of all worlds, it bestowed an unmistakable power to her and one other, so goes the unique nature of the Gemini Art of the Draconis Contract. Alison commands versatile arcane expertise through this bargain, including a mastery of illusions, power over nature and the mind, and even a furtive communion with the dead. The ways in which these abilities manifest are as varied as the Mists from which she encountered the Dragon, though Alison seems to focus her magic through her daggers, or as mental subversions, channeled directly from the token that began this partnership.
Violet Witch
In addition to being a Draconis Magical Girl, Alison is a member of the Violet Path of the Rainbow Coven of witches. She is privy to many rituals and eldritch practices that
Tennis Pro
Alison’s primary hobby that has nothing to do with magic is her spot as team captain on Buster High’s varsity tennis team. As a junior, she has more than proven herself to be an ace player, in singles and especially doubles. Much to her chagrin and pride, Alison has become known as one of the greatest tennis players in all of Buster City.
Model Student
Alison is an incredibly attentive and responsible student, the kind who does every extra credit assignment and does everything within her power to make sure that she and her peers succeed. She has an uncanny affinity for every subject, is a skilled public speaker, and is quite skilled at conflict resolution for someone who just got a driver’s license. She is a rapidly developing leader, and it isn’t a surprise to anyone that a junior like Alison is the class president.
