General Personality:
Mack is ever the cautious but gentle type. If someone or something is in danger, he will often throw himself into the fray to rescue them. At the best of times, he remains a stoic skeptic and tends to want to think before acting over 99 percent of the time and only ever disregards such thoughts when he is backed into a corner. The voice of restraint in most get-togethers but will become single-minded and angry if needless action is taken by those with ill intent especially toward his pokemon whom he views as part of his own family and as such treats them as one would treat brothers, sisters, and cousins.

History:
Goldenrod City is one of the biggest in Johto and Mack loved it there. Not so much the city but the wildlife found out and about the area. He especially liked the National Park found there and watched with awe as the bug-catching contest took place there every so often. He appreciated the variety of bug Pokemon but also the dangers they presented. Getting hit square in the face with a Stun Spore? No thank you; he was content watching from the sidelines and away from the dangers.
One day, his family decided to take a trip to Kanto via the Magnet Train right into Saffron City. From there, they would make their way to Fuchsia City to participate in a Safari Zone outing as a family. Mack thought it'd be too dangerous to engage directly with these wild Pokemon but his parents assured him, as they always did, that the safety in which there were going to traverse the Safari Zone was air tight. He was skeptical but he decided it'd be a great chance to spot some interesting and rare Pokemon.He had been given a few pokeballs to try and catch what he could find but he never really considered himself a Pokemon trainer. During said outing, he happened upon a herd of Kangaskhan and was in awe of their family bond. It warmed his heart. A flock of wild Chansey bowled him over into the open and spooked the herd. One of his Pokeballs came flying out and bopped one of the retreating Kangaskhan on the head. It took Mack a bit to recover but by the time he did, he noticed the Pokeball had just stopped glowing and that the Kangaskhan had been caught. He felt awful. He seperated them from their family!
He was consoled by the park ranger who told him that it was alright and that he'd be a part of this Pokemon's family now. Mack thought it was a pretty lazy explanation and it didn't make him feel too much better. The ranger went on and told him stories about rescue missions they had been on before coming to the Safari Zone. Going to far-off places, rescuing both human and Pokemon alike, and of course seeing all the rare sights. It captivated Mack to such a degree that it made him want to pursue a career in such a field. He looked to his new pokemon and figured that maybe she can be used to help him rescue other pokemon, maybe ones separated from their families. Maybe then he could feel better about catching her.
He worked hard each day and soon grew to appreciate the marvels of the world. He took his career on the road, helping out where he could while enjoying a reward in the shape of a doughnut. Every so often, he’d find Pokemon that were danger and catching them was the only option. Other times, he could use his own to rescue them in his stead. Over time, he had acquired a full team of Pokemon before he knew it but he didn’t regret it. Not like he did before.
He rescued them. He saved them. They had become a close knit family over the years and with them, he journeyed through the regions and continued helping where his muscles were needed most. Eventually, he would learn of Altair City and its wild expanses...close to the city no less!
He figured with such a populous city, they needed all the help they could get. And so Mack set out for Altair City by plane. Now..if only he could rescue himself and get over his air sickness.
