"I don't really understand emotions very well, but isn't it better for everyone to just be happy?"
General Information
Name: Yukari Tachibana
Identity: Architect, the Master of the Battlefield
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Date of Birth: September 4
Place of Origin: Japan
Occupation: Rank #3 Pro Hero
Faction: Pro Heroes
Appearance
Visual Appearance:
Hero Outfit
Physical Appearance: Yukari is a very physically fit girl with a prime body mostly hidden by her outfit. She has long, faintly strawberry blonde hair with a bright streak of crimson on one side. Both her right hand and the entirety of her left arm are fully bionic, having been lost in an incident a long time ago, but fully replaced by her own handiwork constructed from the materials of the now-destroyed weapon that caused it, which ironically amplified her ability to interface with machines even further thanks to the custom enhancements she implemented. Yukari's blood red eyes radiate cheerfulness and energy, but even in combat this doesn't ever go away, giving the girl a somewhat crazed look that matches her partially sadistic tendencies. Her boundless go-getter attitude and a desire for constant affirmation and praise makes her quite charming, as long as you can keep up with her pace.
Clothing: Yukari likes wearing her hero outfit often, but when she's not, she has a few fairly nice shirts and tops, prioritizing comfort but also looking good, often wearing a hoodie and athletic shorts (and sometimes just the hoodie). But, for nicer outings, Yukari can clean up remarkably well.
Outfit: Yukari's hero outfit primarily consists of a military-grade black thermal jacket, black leggings, and black terrain-proof shoes with red soles. She also wears her red captain's armband, a modified communications headset, and her signature fang-print black bandana around her neck. Her belt also has several pouches for holding equipment and other materials she carries around. Almost nobody knows, but she doesn't actually wear a shirt underneath her jacket. Excuses to her secretary include 'the jacket's actually really comfortable', 'I don't like overheating', 'I'm wearing armor anyway', and 'Just use your imagination~ ♡'.
She is also commonly found with her custom motorcycle as part of her hero equipment, as it is designed to be reconfigured into her mecha exosuit, Zero Breaker. The motorcycle's frame is primarily constructed from a lightweight polyethylene armor plating, offering maximum protection without noticeably hindering mobility when reconfigured, offset by its newfound aerial mobility. The overclocked engine serves a dual purpose as the core of Zero Breaker to be used for multi-directional jet propulsion providing the capacity for limited flight and refined agility and directional control, and the motorcycle also has hidden compartments for two retractable micro missile launchers on its sides, which serve the same purpose when reconfigured, although there is only enough space to hold two salvoes each. The interior of the frame contains two sharp high-carbon steel alloy swords reinforcing the interior of the motorcycle that are used for its original intended function when reconfigured, allowing for slashing or stabbing attacks in close combat to provide alternatives to physical blows from her gauntlets.
Her headset is also equipped with communications devices and ECM jammers.
Personality
General Personality: Energetic and earnest, Yukari approaches her tasks with an insatiable voracity. She's always very cheerful, expressing her excitement and anticipation in an outward manner. She doesn't hide any of her feelings, so what you see with her is more or less what you get. That said, her eager attitude tends to pervade throughout anything she's doing, even some of the more questionable actions that she takes delight in, especially blowing things up. It can become a little off-putting at times, having been likened to a young demon on more than one occasion. Yukari is very easy to please and follows directions well, so whenever she's given a task, she'll gladly do it as soon as possible, however with little regard or finesse for the 'how to' — discrete is not in her mental dictionary. That aside, she's very caring, and despite her penchant for destruction, has a large need for social interaction and comfort somewhat like a rambunctious puppy. Yukari has gotten quite attached to her coworkers at her office, and would do anything for their sake.
Bad Habits: Yukari loves combat, the thrill of battle and the rush of defeating every enemy in her way is exhilarating for her. The battlefield essentially serves as her personal playground to test out her abilities and explore as many possibilities with her Quirk as she can. Unfortunately, she sometimes (read: often) gets maybe a little too into it. To the random bystander, if one didn't know who she was, you could probably mistake her for a villain at times. Despite looking the part, she's probably one of the most loyal heroes there is.
Goal: Yukari is always working to improve herself physically and mentally. Until she is the best, she knows she has room to improve, but even if she became the strongest person in the world, such a thing can only measure in comparison to others, not to what one should strive to be, or even what's asked of someone. You don't have to be the strongest if you can do what you need to do, but it sure as hell helps the cause. That said, while she does want to prioritize her job, Yukari would really love to find out what happened to her sister... she became very concerned after receiving the news from her parents, but has been unable to trace even any mention of her.
Personal Life
Mother: Natsumi Yamane (Alive). Her quirk is Imprint, the ability to instinctively use any item once she has touched it, with the full knowledge of how it works and how to use it, if applicable.
Father: Takuma Tachibana (Alive). His quirk is Assembly, the ability to manipulate any material he is holding into any physical form he wishes, as long as the law of conversation of mass is respected.
Siblings: Haruka Tachibana (Alive, Missing). Her quirk's true capabilities are unknown. She claims she hears a voice in her head that she can hold conversations with, and it seems to be able to provide her knowledge of things she didn't know beforehand. Unnatural phenomena have often occurred around her. Her family lost contact with her after she left for higher education, or so she claimed.
Extended Family: Havier Witkin, a rogue scientist and ex-colleague of Takuma's from Eastern Europe who still maintains contact with the family. Tends to supply Takuma with experimental items and other research, often dangerous in nature. A very amiable fellow, but gives off an untrustworthy feeling to most people, for good reason. Has been very reliable for the Tachibana family even despite his shady nature.
History:
While most girls grew up with dollhouses and other toys, Yukari was the kind of girl who would meticulously and elaborately set up an entire city, then pretend to be a giant kaiju and trample and destroy everything, all while laughing. Her parents found it hard to deal with her boundless energy, but thankfully she was always happy to be doing most anything as long as it involved running around.
Despite this, Yukari was an incredibly curious youth, unnaturally smart for her age even if she didn’t show it. She had a habit of taking things apart and putting them back together just to see how they worked, starting with Lego sets before moving on to broken electronics, and it was only then that when she actually managed to fix most of them that her parents realized her quirk was involved. As she grew older, Yukari became notorious for modifying all sorts of electronic and mechanical toys and, well, making them quite dangerous, especially the incident that made her town’s local news regarding her weaponized go-kart.
For all the trouble she caused (and thankfully never went too far overboard), she still did remarkably well in all of her school marks. What she needed more to keep both her active mind and energetic body busy was some sort of order. This actually happened to coincide with the point when her school class began student council elections. While Yukari was very good at following directions, she had trouble with teaching others those same directions if they didn’t understand it, since it just came naturally to her and she didn’t quite know how to explain it, in her mind things just worked. It turned out she was also miserable at public speaking. To no surprise, her campaign bid bombed miserably. Still, she had a great time helping her friends campaign, and was suggested by their homeroom teacher about the prospect of doing some community volunteer work.
Yukari took to her tasks like moth to a flame, but often got bored with some of the more menial tasks, longing for some kind of action or other outlet. One day, when helping pick up litter around the town, the girl’s attention was jolted by the sound of sudden sirens. As she watched the firemen crew speed by, inspiration struck her. Danger was of no consequence to her, she would feel right at home in the action, and would even get to help people out! That was what she thought she wanted to be when she grew up.
Many years later, after joining the police force, she idly recalled that she was only sort of half-wrong. Firsthand experience for the next few months proved that it was actually mostly-wrong, the job was a lot more menial the majority of the time than was pictured in the movies and such. However, Yukari’s excellent performance and reliability helped enable a move to the nearby Musutafu, more of a central hub for the kind of activity she was seeking, and soon enlisted to become a pro hero. There was no absence of need for people like her, and one such office took her under their wing to help get her accustomed to the region and shadow existing heroes. She learned the ropes very quickly, accomplishing her own tasks with notorious efficiency (and maybe a bit of recklessness) with the ability and opportunity to practice and develop her quirk even further. Her native talent, wild and accurate instincts, danger-seeking habits, and extreme adaptability led to her climbing the ranks at a pace unprecedented in history. Good fortune and opportunity had been able to lead Yukari to the life she desired, and she was going to make sure that the opportunity was put to the best use it could be.
Quirk
Name: Reconfiguration
Quirk Type: Emitter
Power: Yukari can manipulate and restructure any and all kinds of non-living material to suit her needs, able to make use of various metals, machinery, and more to customize whatever creations and modifications she wants. For example, she commonly travels around with her motorcycle, but can immediately transfigure the metal frame, engine, and other parts into personal jet boosters, armor, and weaponry. In her most prepared state, she configures her equipment into a fully decked-out mecha exoskeleton, and even in other cases, can still appropriate anything else in the area that she can make use of for her own needs. She isn’t the one paying for city repairs, but often still gets an earful from her superiors.
Supermoves:
Zero Breaker — Yukari's mecha exosuit, prepared from all kinds of materials contained within her custom motorcycle that she rides most everywhere. The engine serves as the core for the exosuit's jet propulsion, which allows her to fly at limited altitudes (up to around 30m high from the takeoff point), and the high quality armor plating provides significantly durable and resistant protection while wearing it. It also comes with oversized claw gauntlets for close quarters combat, two retractable blades, and an array of small missile launchers that comes pre-loaded with 4 salvos (although provided she can find the appropriate materials, she can craft more).
Black Obelisk — Yukari's specialized sniper rifle, able to be Reconfigured using any sort of materials to build the gun's shell, preferably lightweight metal alloys or plastic polymers. Rather than firing bullets, it actually is designed as an incredibly powerful airburst cannon, creating a shockwave directed linearly at her target that displaces the air with enough force to blast holes right through concrete. Because of this design, it also requires no ammunition to use. It fires as a semi-automatic weapon, requiring approximately 1.5 seconds to rechamber, but can be pushed to about 1.2 seconds if she acts quickly enough. Despite being designed as a sniper rifle, it's equally effective as a shotgun.
Pyroblossom — An oversized custom anti-personnel grenade that, upon detonation, not only causes a large explosion, but also releases several smaller incendiary thermite grenades that burn the surrounding area. To Reconfigure material into this weapon, Yukari requires metals and metal oxide to generate the burning thermite reaction, along with carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen to ignite the blast. She ends up using a combination of her breath (for carbon dioxide), the air (atmospheric nitrogen), and any common metal materials that need to be obtained first. A visually impressive weapon that can serve as both a widespread collateral attack, as well as area denial.
Assimilation — With Yukari's arms being bionic, not only can she interface with various electronics and machinery with them, she can also modify external tools and devices to become compatible attachments that she can fully equip to her arms in any manner she desires, as long as she is capable of supporting their weight. This often lends itself to typically making use of more specific tools and interfaces rather than directly assimilating weapons, as the difference between wielding objects and physically having them as an extension of her body are innately separate in terms of balance and control (i.e. larger items such as a sniper rifle or a riot shield are much easier supported through the use of her own hands and body, while smaller tools such as a welding torch or USB plugs are much easier to use as equipment). There is also typically a one-at-a-time a limitation to using her arms to host other objects, as in almost all cases she will generally require the removal of the previous attached object in order to reconfigure her arm to be compatible with the next object she wants to make use of.
Drawbacks: Yukari isn’t a mage, the material she uses in her reconfiguration will still be the same material at its base, so she can’t create things from substances that the object in question isn’t made of. While most metal alloys can be used for similar purposes, something like recycled plastic will not typically be a suitable replacement for a steel sword, but it could work for a riot shield or a weapon casing. Additionally, the law of conversation of mass still applies, as the quantity of material she starts with will be the same quantity she can output. The range of her reconfiguration is strictly limited to direct physical contact with a surface. The more unfamiliar she is with an object, the longer it takes her to reconfigure material into it, as she has to be more careful with its construction to ensure it still functions normally. [Yukari can reconfigure multiple items in one post if they are small-scale and non-complex in design. Large-scale creations (anything bigger in size than herself) will take the time of one per post, as will any small-scale creations with complex mechanics. A project that is both large-scale and complex can be completed over two posts. Zero Breaker, Black Obelisk, and Pyroblossom are exceptions that she can complete at faster speeds thanks to her wealth of experience and repetitions in developing them — Zero Breaker can be fully configured and ready after one post's work, while Black Obelisk or Pyroblossom can be crafted and used in the same post, given she did not reconfigure anything else during that time.]
Fighting Style: Yukari is through-and-through a brawler, even with the equipment she uses, she’ll still end up scrapping down and dirty with the rest of them. With just her motorcycle as configurable material, she takes on the style of an agile air fighter with her mecha exosuit, Zero Breaker, featuring jet boosters and ballistics weaponry in addition to oversized gauntlets for high impact punching and slashing as well as sharp retractable metal blades. She often makes use of her other special weapons while in Zero Breaker, especially her primary weapon, Black Obelisk. The molded explosion- and ballistics-resistant armor gives her highly advanced protection to aid her with fighting down and dirty in close proximity with all kinds of enemies. Her headset is also equipped with communications devices and ECM jammers. Despite her vicious combat-oriented mindset and simple desire to destroy all of her enemies, she's extremely intelligent and highly skilled in both hacking and electronic warfare, as well as circuitry and welding, and gives her full effort to anywhere her talents are required, frontline or not.
