Background:
(Describe the history of your character. Be as concise or elaborate as you would like, so long as you cover the basics of who they are as of this roleplay and how they came to be that way.)
Forty-eight years ago, behind the iron curtain of the New Soviet Republic, a miraculous thing took place in the heart of the motherland. An abnormally large boy was born to two unassuming farmers, who quickly came to realize that their child was one of the notorious NEXT that had become so renowned the world over. Though they could do little, they made sure to raise their boy with the constant reminder that he was well and above the rank and file of his peers in the cold wasteland they called home. More importantly, that their Dmitri would no doubt achieve great things in life. When he wasn’t helping his father plow the fields with the insane physique afforded him by his gift, Dmitri applied himself in wrestling, though it became readily evident that his status as a NEXT absolved him of practically all competition. Despite however many times Dmitri insisted that he could learn to control his power and swore off using it as an unfair advantage, few people remained around him. It did not take long for a deep narcissism and bombastic persona to foster within Dmitri in his developing years, something that would only manifest further throughout the rest of his life.
Dmitri was quickly turned into a folk hero by the Republic on account of being one of the first NEXT to emerge under their dominion. Though convention (and the fact that he was but an adolescent) kept him from acting as an agent of the premier, he was put well to use as a national icon for the people of Russia, and all future Soviet NEXT, in Russia or its many satellite states, that would follow in his footsteps. Dmitri engaged in numerous feats of strength that the Motherland tuned in to far and wide, just as much serving as propaganda as much as testing the immense limits of his power. This was the life Dmitri had come to know, being placed in the limelight as a political tool only emboldening his already swelling ego and overwhelming opinion of himself. Though he was relatively aware that his achievements were little more than circus for the masses, Dmitri reveled in it, knowing that he was a hero his people looked up to, however “hollow” it actually was.
By the time that he had fully matured into adulthood, Dmitri had transcended the propaganda tool that he had originally been propped up as. He was a tried-and-true hero of the people, even if they had come to loathe those had put him there. He was the embodiment of what they strived to become, a real communist hero that they could look to for inspiration and assistance if they were ever in trouble. The notion of being an actual hero now that he was no longer officially tied to government gigs was quickly appealing to Dmitri as well. Helped along by the precedent of Heroes, especially HERO TV, Dmitri quickly joined their ranks as the legend he would henceforth be known as: Captain Hammer. It was the career he was born to lead.
Captain Hammer made it big as he broke onto the main scene, shortly after the downfall of the infamous Albert Maverick. With his old life behind him, Hammer took on numerous major sponsorships as he rapidly climbed the ladder. He was brutal, unapologetically crass, and a wanton chauvinist. Naturally, the ratings of the first season of “new HERO TV” loved him, and whatever most people thought of him, it didn’t matter. He made those crucial comeback seasons as the new King of Heroes. Ultimately, his braggadocio proved to be his undoing, when Hammer’s desire for fame and cruelty in one of the later seasons caused a major incident in Stern Bild that resulted in numerous deaths, including the villain that was the target of the season finale. All of Hammer’s sponsorships were suspended, and he was promptly evicted from HERO TV until further notice. Though Dmitri’s departure left a black mark on HERO TV, it paled before what had come before him, and he remained one of the best Heroes in the history of the show, and as scandalous as he had suddenly become, Captain Hammer remained in Justice Tower’s Hall of Fame.
The time away from HERO TV gave Dmitri time to reflect. Clearly the world wasn’t ready for the kind of Hero that he was, nor his power. He spent most of the time either brooding over the sad state of affairs Apollon Media was in and its new masters, as well as rigorously training to make himself all the stronger when they eventually came crawling back to him; he had made HERO TV what it was, after all. They needed him. Sure enough, several years later he received an invitation to come back to HERO TV for their most exciting season yet.... Their King had returned.
Appearance
Profile:
(Please provide at least one image as a “profile picture” for the character.)
Description:
Physical description: Dmitri is an overwhelming presence, though that is especially the case in regards to his physique. He stands well over six feet tall, nearly seven feet, and weighs roughly two-hundred forty pounds, a sculpted paragon of muscle mass that he keeps in rigid shape every day of the week. He has wild, spiky blonde hair, though it is usually concealed underneath his Hammer armor, as well as his stunning, mysterious dark eyes, and the jagged scar running along his right eye. There is little question as to why he is a beloved icon of masculinity and Heroes in general, or why so many women (and some men) take after him so fanatically.
Dmitri wears an instantly recognizable jersey of proud Russia, with the sleeves cut out so as to make it an unconventional tank top, no doubt with the intention of showing off his muscles. Dmitri wears athletic jeans underneath, though these can easily be torn away to reveal running shorts underneath. He wears steel-toed boots, yet seems to have no difficulty running in them, no doubt from his insane training regime for himself, during as well as before he became the Hero known as Captain Hammer.
Abilities
Gear
Hammer Armor
Dmitri’s armor is strikingly reminiscent of his wintry motherland far to the north, with burning red and blinding gold to blatantly remind everyone who gazes upon his armor of his background. It covers him from head to toe, completely protecting him from all manner of physical attack. The main layer of the armor is a durable black skintight material that deflects attacks with ease, while the red-and-gold armor pieces are of a heavier metal alloy, and offer the bulk of his defenses, something he often takes advantage of with maneuvering those parts of his body into harm’s way to shrug off the damage. There is a personal communications device installed into the helmet to allow Dmitri to speak from within the armor to those around him, as well as to keep in touch with HERO TV and other relevant networks for the scenario at hand.
Abilities:
Moloton Effect
Dmitri’s NEXT ability makes his body incredibly dense. This density is extreme, to the point that his skin is bulletproof, and a single punch from him can send cars (or trains, if he applies sufficient force) flying, never mind people. While similar to Rock Bison’s power on principle, Dmitri’s strain appears to be more raw in power, allowing for unprecedented feats of strength in addition to durability. This strength allows him to technically soar through the air with mighty leaps. This density also makes Dmitri extremely heavy, and unless he wants to, cannot be budged save by the stronger A-League heroes, and direct collisions from forces equivalent to a full-speed automobile.
Limitations: Dmitri is unable to turn off his extreme density, which causes a lot of problems for day-to-day transportation. He’s unable to drive or enter most vehicles, as they are not nearly designed well enough to accommodate for his incredible weight, never mind in motion. As a result, Dmitri usually just leaps in large, destructive bounds to reach a destination quickly, using it as an additional wow factor to entrances and exits. This can also prove dangerous in combat, as his weight can cause uneven or fragile surfaces to give way under him. He is also helpless in environments where zero-G effects are in place, where he is unable to properly direct his physical power.
