Visual Appearance:
Physical Appearance:
Edward is a 5 foot 8 feet tall man, with a large frame and body weighing around 210 lbs total. Despite his age, Edward often times uses his quirk to "lift" weights. by transforming everyday items into gold to either curl, squat, or bench at home. That said, his frame is much like that of a bear when you remove the thick layer of beer belly from his eelier years of drinking after work. His skin is paler than most japanese citizens, his eyes and facial features betraying that he's of foreign birth. That said, his face is fairly round, with a large nose and cheeks that make him seem kind. His tendency to always squint when smiling makes him seem like his eyes are small, however when he's relaxing at home he opens them fully; showing wide brown eyes. His hair is grey from age, and he suffers from balding, only having a wreath of hair left around his head. The thick bushy mustache he keeps well groomed on his face also has the light grey color to it, completing the look of a businessman with years of experience.
Civilian Clothes:
Despite his current unemployment, Edward still wears his old banker suit; using it to keep his appearance as an average older businessman up. When not working and relaxing, he'll often times get rid of the coat, preferring to wear his button up shirt, and rolling the sleeves up, usually loosening his tie to hang loosely around his neck. That said, Edward is far less formal at home; usually preferring to wear a pair of shorts, crocks, and a colorful Hawaiian shirt.
Villain Outfit:
Lord Miser's outfit is one that was made back in his theater days. While he had to do a lot of tailoring and editing to the outfit due to his change in size and additional GIRTH; he still fits very well within it. The material is for the most part made of decent durable cloth, leather, and woven gold thread. That said, the various jewelry and pendants are fake, but it doesn't really matter when he can turn it into gold at any moment. That said; he does wear a vest under his outfit to protect his vitals. The outfit includes a set of white, pastel blue, gold, and dark violet. The costume allows for fair movement, while giving an air of miserly luxury while giving him a southerner feel with the black and white poka-dot bow tie. The robes he wears over his suit are used to hide various items that he can pocket, such as brass knuckles, baubles, books, folders, or whatever he chooses to carry. The various rings can be transformed into gold on emergency to make improvised knuckles, though by no means are they as effective as weapons. The robes are also used to hide his figure from behind; with the only thing visible from behind being the massive collar of raven like feathers and the jewel encrusted top hat.
On his head and face; Lord Miser wears thick eye liner and eyelashes that make him seem extravagant; as well as more than a plentiful supply of red blush on his nose. He wears a monocle; as well as the fact that he wears extensions on his now gelled to the side and dyed black mustache that he uses to give himself a gentleman villain like look. The white and black top hat encircled by jewelry acts to give further luxury, though below it he wears a toupee in order to better hide his identity and if someone noticed it; try to throw them off his trail.
Miser's Cane
His primary weapon, tool, and object he generally keeps with him at all time. The cane acts as both a mace like weapon that allows Miser to defend himself, as well as a tool for leverage, and even breaking into tempered glass thanks to the hardened tip at the bottom of the cane. Miser can turn the cane into gold if need be to increase it's weight, but more often than not it'll cause more damage to the cane than himself.
Heavy Smoke Cigar
In his waistcoat Miser keeps a set of cigars that he can light. The cigars are not meant for smoking, though he knows that some people just can't help themselves from celebrating early. When lit, the cigars explode into a thick, and wide spreading smoke that has multiple uses. The cigar will explode into this smoke shortly after being lit, but if the user is able to funnel the smoke through something, such as a hat it can be used to reveal lasers, and other security devices that utilize light triggers.
Anti-Security Brooch
The Brooch that is pinned to his chest is a unique device that he created with his knowledge on the security of the bank he worked at. The device is capable of scanning various body parts to use for checkpoint clearance. It can also be used to disrupt electronic devices if set to EMP mode, though it's range is extremely short ranged, often requiring Miser to attach the brooch to the equipment in general.
Skeleton Keys
A set of keys that Miser created himself that can be used to break a variety of locks, while also having lock picks that he can use to bypass a handful of things if his powers are a bit too troublesome to deal with. Appears to be a set of keys on an oversized gold ring.
Personality
Bad Habits: Despite his shift in virtues and morals, Edward tends to return to habits of his old job. From apologizing, to doing favors for others without thinking, he tends to accidentally be helpful to anyone, even at his own detriment.
He tends to snap at those who laugh at him; often to the point where if someone laughs around him he thinks they are laughing at his misfortune, which can sometimes lead to him snapping in anger.
Edward never forgets a wrong towards him. He'll always get the last laugh.
Lastly, he refuses to lower his standards when it comes to his work/mission.
Goal: After years of being a "decent person", Edwards simply wants one thing. He wants to stand on the top of all of those who mocked him. Who treated him like a fat old man. Who treated him like an expendable asset, or a person who could never say no. Edwards wants people who wronged him to suffer. To the point where he simply doesn't care if he's alone at the end of it all.
General Personality: Edward was a simple man, a man who believed that being an obedient, good natured, hard worker for his banking company would allow him to live a life of comfort. It wasn't an easy job, and he often times tolerated more than anyone might expect of him, showing great patience, and benevolence despite how often he would be reprimanded for other's mistakes or called a useless fat old man. He was a model citizen through and through. Letting the anger and frustrations he felt slide off of him, saying simply, "It's fine."
That was until he was wronged and labeled a crook. Now.... Now he realized that he was lying to himself all along. He was never good natured. Hard working, sure. Obedient, absolutely when it came to the promised reward that he saw in the distance. But that habit of being a yes-man. Those times where he considered everything to be "Fine" were lies. When he heard the laughter of his boss, he realized that he was a vengeful man. One who had without knowing it had mentally recorded any and every wrong; and more importantly those who did those wrongs to him. The anger had never just slid off.... it soaked into him like a sponge, but even sponges have a limit.
Edward shows a professional side of himself more often than not, holding his skills in high regard, as well as holding others to a professional standard. That said, he often shows the façade of being a yes-man when everyone is watching, though it quickly melts off when he is with like minded company of his desire for vengeance. Resentful, spiteful, and even petty are more accurate descriptions for that side of him, often times with him warning others not to cross him well ahead of time. He has shown violent tendencies when no one takes his anger or warning seriously, displaying the strength that he has hidden below the bulk of his body. Often times, he'll even make others struggle and watch with sadistic glee with his quirk, though he is quick to listen to reason or orders if given any.
Edward refuses to lower his standards, believing that while he can take hostages he should uphold his part of the deal until the other side shows their true colors. At that point, he strikes back, often times by the method of "an eye for an eye". He neither cares about, nor hates heroes that are genuine, though he has shown to be particularly hateful to any who he believes are laughing at him, or those he notice are hypocrites.
Personal Life
Mother: Elanor Golman (deceased/natural causes)
Father: Jeromy Golman (deceased/natural causes)
Siblings: 2 brothers, 1 sister (All deceased/ various causes)
Extended family: None
History:
Edward Golman was an American who moved to japan after he was offered a position at a bank his family had been a part of since it's inception. Most of his family were in the money business, either as appraisers, auctioneers, stock traders, or even in his example being a bank teller. Despite his family seeming to consider his job to be "lower" than the rest of theirs, Edward was more than happy to accept being transferred to a recently acquired bank that they needed a senior teller for. The transition wasn't too hard, with only the language barrier being a problem for a month or so. That said, he flourished in his job, training new employees, keeping calm in villain robberies, and following the book to the letter. Edward was in all definitions the equivalent of a Japanese salary man, perfect in every way and more than willing to sacrifice his personal time to ensure the business thrived.
Of course, Edward never got promoted despite his dedication. His value to the working environment was what forced him to be kept in his position. Of course, while he attempted to stay fit, he ended up gaining weight, and eventually grew bald and old. His family began to die, though he was always too busy, and it wasn't like any inheritance was given to him regardless. As time passed, eventually so did the times. More and more people began to insult him, whether it was customers, employees who talked behind his back, or even his boss who would complain when he couldn't achieve certain goals that were forced upon him. Even then, he always went out of his way to help the company to the point where he would lose sleep almost constantly. Still, he knew that all of his work would eventually be rewarded. After all he wasn't that far from retirement.....
Until he was fired, and incriminated. The reason? Embezzlement and fraud. At least that was what he was framed for. He was called into the office one day to be detained by police who had "evidence" to his "crimes" Edward was honestly confused. Of course he wasn't guilty, though this didn't matter. He was eventually tried and sent to jail for five years... right on his day of retirement. Of course he used everything he could to prove his innocence, to the point of where he almost made himself bankrupt. Of course, his trail was always pushed back. Of course, eventually, he would be given a new judge, and finally be deemed not guilty. Finally with his innocence proven, Edward aimed to return to work, now a bit bigger, but now stronger due to his need to stay fit in jail as a model prisoner. Of course when he attempted to claim his severance pay owed to him, as well as his retirement funds; he was denied... what's more he was taunted by his former boss... until Edward began to realize something about that man. About how he had always seemed to get new things, from cars that he would flaunt, to million yen business suits. He even remembered how the man before him had signed his own name on Edward's work, often times claiming credit..... How often had Edward ignored those wrong doings to him.... How had the manager of the bank gotten so much money, yet had a salary that couldn't afford such a broad range of luxury? It was simple....
Leaving that building, Edward would head home, not even realizing he had walked home while holding something he had pocketed..... a key to the doors of the bank.... It was here that he realized the true nature. He was a model worker, but he was a man who had worked for nothing and had been framed to cover his boss. An expendable in the long run. It was here that he snapped, and Lord Miser was born. Now with his connections from prison he aims to take everything that was taken from him. Put those who laughed at him, mocked him, felt disgusted at him, or outright wronged him in even the slightest way in their place.... He turned the keys to gold, and began to lift them, feeling their weight as he used his quirk for the first time in many years.... and it wouldn't be the last time he did so.
Quirk
Name: Midas Grasp
Quirk Type: Emitter
Power: The user is capable of transmuting everyday objects into pure gold on touch. The objects turned to gold copy all of the various properties of gold, from weight and density, to malleability and conductivity. The user can also choose to turn objects back to their original material if they wish through the same method of placing their palm on the object while it is gold. Objects that the user turns to gold will stay gold for a period of 24 hours if fully transmuted before reverting back
The rate of transmutation changes from being seconds for handheld objects that can be carried (baubles, suitcases, canes, etc.) (3 per post); to minutes for furniture such as chairs, doors, and crates (2 posts to finish), to nearly an hour for larger objects such as cars, heavy machinery, and even entire buildings! (5 to 10 posts based on scale)
Supermoves:
Gilded Strike- The user turns a wooden or simple object such as a cane, leather gloves, or even a suitcase into pure gold, increasing it's weight and density of the item to enhance their attack. Usually used best when sucker punching someone.
Golden Touch- The user transforms a locked doorknob, bar, or other locking mechanism into gold, allowing a strong and forceful strike to easily render said lock useless against him.
Glorious Shatter- Using the half transformation property and the shattering consequence of his quirk together; the user can turn glass, doors, or even vases into gold, bending them in odd ways, before partially undoing the transmuting. This creates ceramic, glass, or wooden time bombs that can explode into shards... or simply do nothing but crack in one place. It's kinda hit or miss with it sometimes.
Midas's Robes- Using his quirk and grabbing either the opponent's clothing, costume, or equipment, the user attempts to turn their entire outfit into gold (occurs if no action to forcefully disengage is used). While the transmuted material's weight varies from whether the item was made of cloth, leather, plastic or metal; the general idea is that this further increases the mass of their equipment by nearly five times. Often times it's used to immobilize most civilians, slow down heroes, or greatly weaken and dent their armor and/or weapons.
Drawbacks:
One of the major drawbacks of Midas touch is that the user can only activate or deactivate this quirk by touching objects with the palms of the hand. If the transformation was not completed the object being turned to gold will quickly revert back to it's original material within a short time (1 post of not staying in contact.) What's more and most importantly, this quirk cannot affect living beings, whether it's trees, grass, dogs, cats, fish, or other people. It can affect products of said beings such as wool, fingernails, planks, and even fruit; but not if they are still attached to a living being. Objects must be in a solid form as the quirk will not work on liquids.
On the opposite end of things, objects turned to gold if melted or bent in any way will always return to their original state; though perhaps not whole, but warped, or ready to shatter if the damage is significant.
Fighting Style:
Edward is a smart fighter, often times relying on plans to prevent conflict before anything else. Of course, he understands that there are times when he must get down and dirty when it comes to making people pay. His need to be professional means he'll often times make offers or warnings before beginning conflict. When forced to fight, he'll often times aim to use various items as either thrown weapons of dense and weighty gold; or by bending fragile items to create space via Glorious Shatter. When his enemies get too close, Edward will make attempts to grab opponents, sometimes even taking blows in order to use Midas's Robes on them, turning their equipment into gold and rendering it less useful if given the chance. That said, Edward can brawl with brute strength, often using his cane as a powerful mace. When restrained or captured, Edwards will often display indifference or patience, though he'll taunt his captors and make himself seem either defeated or unable to escape, despite the fact that he'll often be willing to dislocate digits, or use his quirk to aid in escape. He expects those he fights alongside with to hold their own, though he'll work with them when told to do so by superiors.
Lastly, when he's enraged, Edward is more likely to lash out in anger, often times not caring for his "Fair play" that he normally gives. He'll recklessly swing at enemies, often times even putting himself in disadvantageous positions to get a single good strike in, which he enjoys with a sadistic pleasure. When wronged, and he is left to his devices, Edward will extend his opponent's torment, often times crushing them under items made of gold slowly. He isn't likely to kill people, instead wanting people to become cripple or lame if he can help it, preferring to remove opposition by making them suffer.
