Pesky Shoals, an island located in one of the more frigid locations of the North Blue. An extension of the mainland as a bluff, it was a man-made town, and one that even a new sailor could tell was a bad idea to approach from the sea due to the innumerable rocky outcroppings and shoals that acted as a natural barrier to most modern ships. Well, any ship that didn’t know how to navigate the only way to dock. Of course, that didn’t mean that its citizens were unwelcoming or untrusting. If anything, the assortment of fairy lights on lines, floating food bars, and warm feeling that the houses gave despite the frigid and snowy weather stated otherwise.
That was not to say that these people were naïve. G30, or G-Below 30 as their official unit name was; was a group of marines that not only kept the peace, but oversaw many events of Pesky Shoals; often making sure to notice and capture pirates brave or stupid enough to not realize that this place was under the protection of marines. Not that they did much these days. Constant pleasantries, various events, and even just free booze passed the mostly uneventful times that these marines had been dealing with…… However that was until something occurred. In a day’s time, half of G30 had left in ships, something happening to call them. Most of Pesky Shoal’s party goers could care less, as it simply meant one thing. A lax in overbearing security.
One such example of this was Blanca herself. The rumored ghost dog that haunted the dangerous waters and outskirts of Pesky Shoals down the coast were focused exclusively upon her dog form. Normally Blanca would need to take a while to pick the right day to turn in her most recent bounties, but as of late, with the absence of half of the force, she’d find collection a far less troublesome matter after such ghastly attacks. Today was also one such day, though as she began to approach Pesky Shoals to turn in her most recent “collections” for berries; she’d find that within there seemed to be a particularly big party at the local tavern, though many people were apparently outside and looking anxious. Perhaps she could check what was going on, or perhaps it was best to handle her bounties first before anything else. 30k Berries was nothing to scoff at after all. A collection of small fries, but still something to consider. She could also redeem their ships either as her own, or as additional rewards, since lately the Marines had been wanting to purchase more and more ships over the last year.
As she passed along the boardwalk she’d hear the unfiltered cheers and merry goings of rough sounding people, maybe 20 or so. Anything more than that she couldn’t pick up without shifting into her half form to heighten her sense of hearing.
