Wiping a bead of sweat off her brow Narsa, took a few steps back to admire her work. It had taken weeks, but the paycheck would make this all worth it. This was just the finishing touches. A myriad of colors collided in creating a mural depicting the Notorious Biggie Smalls. Beneath, Nathalie her mother decorated the bottom with a variety of flowers. It would be a great locale for people to admire and even take photos. "It's not often we get to work together like this, miha." She smiled. "Flowers and paint go hand in hand. I'm sure, people will let us do more once they figure out who we are." Narsa chirped. "Sooooo, my end of things is done moooom~ Can I go have fun now? Dad said he'd help you with the stand." In all honesty, Narsa was ready to run the streets and enjoy the festivities. This event was like a farmer's market on steroids. Vendors and food trucks littered the street, her family's "Flor Aquino" being one of them. Nathalie had actually been thinking about opening a flower shop in Brooklyn. How things went today would dictate her decision whether to open closer to home in Long Island or here. Her mother- "Sure sure, be safe." With the green light from her mother, Narsa quickly rinsed her hands clean and joined the forming crowd.
Events like these were epic. People were swarming in from all over to check things out. There was a little bit of everything to try. Narsa struggled to pick where to start... at least until the sweet sweet smell of honey and fresh fruit capture her. Like a butterfly drawn to a flower, she found herself in front of a naturalist's stand. They offered organic honey based products, but their hot commodity was juicing fresh and exotic fruits, then infusing it with the sweetness of their honey. " A small cup of soursop pleaaase!" She grinned big, shoving money into the vendor's hand as if it were burning a hole in her pocket. A stranger would easily be able to tell she was in complete heaven after just one sip. It made her want to sing. What would she try next?!?

Miles had already dealt with his own workload earlier that day, a nice little pile of homework that had been building up for too long. Long enough that he hadn't even been allowed to leave his bedroom until he was 100% finished, but today's festivities were absolutely worth it.
Striding down the street, Miles waved to some passing friends as he peeked around at the nearby booths to find a solution to his empty stomach. The problem was...everything looked really good! Decision paralysis is a bitch, and she was tossing Miles around like a plaything, except she was using the temptation of smells as her weapon of choice...maybe a bunch of small things? Miles checked his pocket, he had enough to get a few things for sure.
The first stop was something to drink, and some honeyed juice sounded like just the solution for his current thirst.
"I'd love a cup of lychee with that raspberry honey. Gracias!" Miles slid his cash over the counter "keep the change, amigo. Hasta luego" and then he stepped off to the side to wait for the juicing to finish up. Near him was a dark haired girl who looked like she had just drank ambrosia, the nectar of the gods if you will, he didn't recognize her as someone from the neighborhood so he figured she must be around for the fest. Miles gave her a smile and nodded at her cup
"What'cha get? This shop always gets the best fruit. The lychee is my favorite though" looking over and snagging his cup as it was offered out to him.

A voice interrupted her liquid Nirvana. There was just something about honey... ominously nostalgic and ridiculously delicious. "Oh..." She was flustered. To be honest, the drink took her to another place. "I got soursop! It's like super good for you or whatever, but I just like how silky it is when its blended. Plus with their honey, oh my god! So good. " Excited was an understatement. She looked him up and down in a quick glance. He was in her age group that was for sure. As a newbie new yorker, friends were essential. Maybe this encounter was an in! He sounded like he'd had this place before. A local? "You must be from around here!" She'd begin.
By comparison Long Island was almost like the suburbs. Still, she was excited to meet someone new. "I'm Narsa. What's your name?" She was lively by nature, almost fluttering.

"I haven't had that one, but you make it sound pretty great. I'll have to snag it next time I come in" giving a big grin as he took the mental note "they've definitely got a sweet setup, no one makes drinks like theirs. They definitely popped off at the right time, they opened up in the summertime so it was just too hard for everyone to resist when it got hot"
At her mention of being a local, Miles nodded "yeah, New York born and raised right here in Brooklyn. Best town on the planet! Ma's from Puerto Rico, Dad's a local too. Oh! I'm Miles, Miles Morales, it's nice to meetcha Narsa" he got a drink from his delicious juice and asked "did you just move here? Haven't seen you around, I'm pretty sure we woulda gone to the same school"

"Hmmm, I believe it! Brooklyn's not all that far from the train, so I'm sure they'll be seeing more of me soon." She chuckled. She'd take another swig and then, another. She had noticed when he spoke a bit of spanish, but he quickly explained himself. One thing Narsa liked the area was because New York was a true melting pot. There were people of all colors and cultures everywhere. "Heheh, you guessed it right. we recently moved to Floral Park. It just made the most sense, because I got accepted into a high school that will push me right into NYU for my art career. I'm putting on for my fellow Filipinos, you knoooow~."
She'd start taking a few steps toward the next stand. There was still so much to see. "Well, I've made a friend named Miles and there's good juice, I can go to Brooklyn all I want now." Said with a smile and a hair flip. There were still so much of New York to explore. She had seen Harlem, or Staten Island. She hadn't even seen all of Queens yet. This city was just so overwhelmingly big. She wondered. "Do you go out a lot? There always seems to be lots of parties and community stuff like this going on. "
