Clarent - Sword of Blood Peace: The sword Mordred used to slay King Arthur was stolen from the man himself. A blade of great power found its way to Rupert by the will of Destiny. It was one of the only things Morgan did not account for. It is a unique sword whose blade can deflect and disrupt energies and magic. To the eyes of a regular person, Clarent looks like a rusted old sword, disused, dirty and stained with blood. It does not matter how much it is cleaned. However, those with the gift of sight can see Clarent's true appearance as the cursed Demon Sword of Sir Mordred, a magnificent weapon decorated with gold, still stained by the blood of King Arthur, ruby red against the accursed steel. Only those branded traitors can use Clarent. For it was by the actions of Sir Mordred that it was cursed.
The Armour of Mordred
A magically created armour was gifted to him by Morgan Le Fey. It bestows upon Rupert many magical abilities for use in battle. The downside is that when he uses it, the memories of his life as Mordred become more powerful, vivid and frequent.
Superhuman Strength
Wearing the armour of Mordred vastly enhances Rupert's strength, and he can bend metal with bare hands or use his sword to cut even the hardest of objects.
Superhuman Durability
Rupert's durability is highly enhanced by the armour given to him, allowing the knight to survive great falls and lethal force.
Superhuman Reflexes
The Armour enhances Rupert's reflexes, pushing them to superhuman levels.
Appearance
Physical Appearance:
Rupert is, in many ways, the definition of tall, dark and handsome with an imposing frame; his visage is sharp and angular, and his features are chiselled with a stern determination that betrays strength and vulnerability. His eyes are the colour of stormy grey, his hair dark brown with an untamed elegance, and the only clear Fairy trait he has are the slightly pointed ears. The air around him seems to vibrate with an energy that hints at the Fairy power inside him. Rupert still has the scar from the wound that killed him during his life as Sir Mordred, located at his chest, right where his heart is, a brand he has been unable to remove; those with magic sight are able to see the scar for what it is. A wound on the spirit, not the flesh
Clothing and Armor:
His identity as Mordred very much influences Rupert's casual clothes. Mordred often chooses a tailored, dark-coloured jacket with intricate stitching reminiscent of medieval patterns. His jacket of choice is usually paired with slim-fitting black jeans, offering a modern twist on the traditional knight's attire. A crisp, tailored white shirt beneath the jacket adds a touch of refinement, with the top button left casually undone. For shoes, he likes to wear well-crafted leather boots, both practical and fashionable, suitable for urban exploration or a night out. Accessories include a ring bearing a symbolic emblem reminiscent of a dragon, and he is often seen wearing sleek black sunglasses.
As part of Excalibur, Mordred wears magically enchanted armour, a dark armour adorned with intricate engravings. Symbols of dragons and serpents coiled around the armour, the hilt of his sword, sheathed at his side, a masterpiece of craftsmanship, intricately detailed and polished to a muted lustre, with a crimson cloak draped over his shoulders. In contrast with many modern heroes, his outfit is more reminiscent of the traditional armour of old knights. It is far more durable than any armour constructed back in those days.
Personality
Sexual Orientation:

General Personality:
On the outside, Rupert is very stern and reserved and rarely smiles. He is primarily motivated by results and does not believe in filtering his words or ideas for others. He often comes off as cold and apathetic, exerting very little energy in most situations. He can be rigid and strict when necessary, but he is not cruel. Rupert is also very vocal and unafraid when expressing his ideas, even towards someone of higher status or power. Rupert genuinely cares about his friends and allies despite his apathy and will greatly protect them when needed. Rupert also has a soft spot and can be quite nurturing towards animals (horses) and children. Much to the surprise of others, the knight can be very attentive and involved in his role as a provider, even outside of his duties. There even is a running joke among the members of Excalibur that he would make for an excellent father if ever given the opportunity. Even in his youth, Rupert showed remarkable inner strength and intelligence, as despite the emotional torment caused by his father, he was still firm in his resolve to be good. Despite
While he seems collected and under-challenged, as typical of most prodigies, he is, in fact, hard-working and under constant pressure with his career as a hero in Excalibur. He struggles with his past life's actions as much as maintaining the heroic persona everyone expects of him. He continues to train himself endlessly to maximize his skills and abilities.
Then there are the traits still left from his life as Sir Mordred and the constant allure of the sorcery coursing inside him. Rupert can sometimes become prideful and haughty, with a habit of using magic to punish and curse. Usually, this comes at unexpected times and often surprises him and others. Affected by his past, he can take on a boastful persona, feeling himself equal or better than King Arthur ever was in the ways of ruling and swordsmanship. There are even times when Rupert has "episodes" where the memories of Mordred become more vivid, and at those times, he can become a danger to himself and others.
Lastly, it's his complicated relationship with Morgan Le Fey and "The Old Ways". He knew her as the local librarian for most of his life, a safe space in his otherwise troubled life. He still greatly appreciates what she did for him and has a healthy respect for her. Yet, he is not foolish enough not to see the connections; her involvement in his life is not an accident. Morgan Le Fey has a history not even she can run away from, and Rupert knows that better than most. Yet, he doesn't know her motivations. Neither is he aware of the true extent of her orchestrating his miserable life. If he were to find out the truth, his opinions might change, but for the moment, he tries to keep a healthy distance from his "mother" and keep her from affecting his work too much.

History:
The Birth-Life
In his original life, he was Mordred. The illegitimate son of King Arthur and Morgan le Fey, Arthur slept with his half-sister, not knowing they were related, and, as a result, Mordred was born. The prophecy surrounding Mordred's birth foretold that he would bring about the downfall of King Arthur and the Round Table. Morgan had been well aware of this fact; she knew what the words foretold, and she was set on making sure they would take place.
Modern-day has had several different views of Mordred's life, but his childhood is largely glossed over. In fact, after his birth, Mordred was taken away from court by Morgan as a baby to be raised by foster parents. Possibly to protect him from the potential repercussions of his parentage, but more strongly from a mixture of his mother's desire for secrecy and manipulation and as a way to push his destiny. As such, he was raised in isolation and knew nothing about his true parentage for his childhood. Truthfully, Mordred's childhood was marked by the shadow of his destiny, as he unwittingly moved towards the fate that would lead him to clash with King Arthur and contribute to the downfall of the legendary Camelot. Such was the will of Morgan le Fey, and he was not wiser.
As he grew older, Mordred became a knight and a member of the Round Table. He admired King Arthur and honestly and purely sought his approval, which was why he could climb the ranks until he got his seat at the Table. It was only until he was firmly cemented in the inner circle of Arthur that Morgan decided to spring upon him the truth. She, Arthur's older sister, had been supposed to inherit the throne but was cheated out of her birthright. At the same time, the sorceress also revealed to Mordred that he was Arthur's son by blood. The revelation of his identity became pivotal in Mordred's life, setting the stage for the following tragic events. Many like to portray Mordred as the villain, but in his life, he was always the pawn in someone else's game, as much a victim as he was a perpetrator.
Sir Mordred was a knight of great promise, a trusted companion to King Arthur. However, Morgan sowed the seeds of discontent within Mordred's heart, and as the kingdom flourished, so did his envy and ambition. The affair between Queen Guinevere and Sir Lancelot, coupled with Mordred's growing resentment towards the established order, set the stage for betrayal.
"Peraps Arthur wouldn't ave been so eager to go on es quest or the Holy Grail, ef e'd known what a terrible enemy e would leave beind in Morgan Le Fey"
One of the key moments in Mordred's life occurred when King Arthur left him in charge of the kingdom in his absence. During this time, Mordred seized the opportunity to advance his agenda and claimed the throne. When Arthur returned and learned of Mordred's betrayal, a tragic and fatal conflict ensued, culminating in the Battle of Camlann. It was during the Battle of Camlann that the prophecy would finally be fulfilled. The battle was fierce, and in the end, Mordred mortally wounded Arthur, using the stolen sword, Clarent, to deliver the final blow. Yet, Mordred was himself fatally wounded in the process. Whatever the stories, the death of both Arthur and Mordred marked the conclusion of the once-glorious Camelot and the end of the Round Table.
"I've come to claem wat is mene, Fater."
Reincarnation
In the mystic realms where the threads of destiny are woven and interwoven, a soul once tainted by betrayal and tragedy found itself bound by the cycle of reincarnation by dark magic. Thus emerged Rupert, the unwitting vessel for the reincarnated spirit of Sir Mordred, part of a machination by the sorceress Morgan le Fey. Rupert was born to a couple of farmers named Abigail and Patrick Oleander, and his birth took place in the city of Carlisle, close to where the Battle of Camlann took place generations earlier. He never had the best relationship with his parents, mainly his father, Patrick. The boy was subjected to constant physical and emotional abuse by his father. Ruperts would be kicked simply for turning his back to his father, who would constantly say how it would've been better if Rupert had never been born. Abigail did not abuse him, but she was emotionally distant and passive. Seeing how broken both of his parents were, Rupert held in his emotions and became determined not to endure the same fate.
He did not know, however, that all this was part of the plan by his "true" mother, Morgan Le Fey. She first appeared in Rupert's life as the local librarian, working at the town library. Rupert spent a lot of time there as a child and teenager, as it would keep him away from the abusive home and help him study. Morgan became a comforting presence in his life. She encouraged the seeking of knowledge and the pursuit of secrets; she awakened a fascination for magic in him.
The sorceress still viewed him as her son saw his current biological parents as a convenient vessel for her will, and made certain he would love them less than her. They were largely expendable, after all. Much like the foster parents she had picked to care for Mordred, the sorceress had picked the woman to house her son's soul. Abigail was a follower of the old ways and had always been a servant of Morgan, as her mother before her. She and Morgan chose Patrick as the perfect father due to the power of the old blood still running inside him, even if he was unaware of this fact.
Awakening, a Mother's love
Rupert never knew any of this, but destiny has a way of asserting itself, and as Rupert grew into a teenager, Mordred's dormant memories and emotions began to surface. Dreams haunted him—visions of Camelot, the clash of swords, and the anguished faces of those he had wronged in his previous life. But the memories were not all bad; along with the nightmares came other memories of strange lessons in sorcery, swordplay, riding, archery, and the feeling of companionship with fellow knights. Memories of being respected, admired, and loved.
As time continued, Ruperts began to take up many hobbies that haunted his dreams. He joined the local fencing and archery clubs and became a boy scout. He started to ride and got his parents to buy him a horse, Vivi, a stoic mare he came to treasure more than anything. Rupert quickly rose in different competitions until he became regarded as a genius with a sword, defeating opponents with several more years of experience. He had a natural knack for weaponry, and it did not take long before he was enlisted into the military to serve his time. He became a famed Equestrian, with several victories under his belt by the time he came into his 20s; it was also an Equestrian that he became a professional, spending most of his time in the company of horses.
Yet, nothing helped to alleviate the feeling of guilt that continued to plague his life, always present at the edge of his mind, even when awake. Every praise had the sting of wrongness, and every victory felt like he did not deserve it like he should be punished for a crime he knew little about.
Things with his father reached their boiling point when Rupert was finally old and strong enough to put his foot down. It just happened, and one day, when the old man tried to attack him, Rupert retaliated. Within seconds, he had left Patrick a broken mess on the floor. He was far more physically capable than his father, and they both knew it now.
The trials that followed were long and difficult, and Rupert spent the following years in and out of prison.
Sorcery and Second Chances
Rupert was finally cleared of all charges, as his murder of the father had been done in self-defence. Rupert was roughly 20, and two major events occurred simultaneously. The first was when he met that times Captain Britain. Who offered Rupert a hand, and part of Rupert took it as a "second chance", that maybe if he joined forces with Britain, he could eliminate the nightmares and horrible memories of his past life. The second was another encounter with Morgan Le Fey; she had chosen now of all times to spring the truth upon him! About who he was and her own role as his "true" mother. With Patrik dead and Abigail so emotionally distant, it was more of a welcome revelation than a horrible burden. He had already grown to care about Morgan and discovered she was supposed to be his mother. Well, an emotionally exhausted Rupert was easily manipulated at the time.
So, as Rupert began to work with Captain Britain, he also started taking lessons in sorcery from Morgan Le Fey. He also learned from Brian and Morgan that he was part of the Otherworld with blood of the Fairies.
His relationship with Brian grew stronger as the two got to know one another; he also learned that Captain Britain's name was Brian.
The rise of Enchantress struck the world over. Rupert fought back, joining the many heroes who worked to defend their homes. When Brian and his sister founded Excalibur, Brian put Rupert's name forward first to join their ranks. He was there when the Enchantress attempted to claim the Amulet of Right. A difficult choice was made to shatter it, keeping the power away from the Enchantress. Rupert still hasn't told anyone that he knew something was about to happen before it did because Morgan had revealed as much. Neither has he been able to ignore the question of HOW the Enchantress knew about the Amulet of Right in the first place. A question he suspected the answer to but did not want to admit it at the time.
After the war against the Enchantress, Brian stepped down from his position as Captain Britain. For a moment, Rupert was certain that he would be the one to take over the mantle. So, it came as a great shock to him when Brian's sister Betsy was the one to become the next Britain. Not only that, but Merlin decided to make her the head of Captain Britain Corp, displacing the former head, Saturnyne.
Wielder of Clarent
With Betsy as the new leader of Excalibur, Rupert did his best not to feel insulted or betrayed. Still, he was hurt that he was overlooked as Captain Britain and a potential leader of Excalibur. At the same time, something began to pull at him, drawing him away, back to his childhood city. It was there, underground, that he dug out a sword, and when he held it, he instantly knew what it was... The sword Sir Mordred used to kill King Arthur is Clarent, the Sword of Blood Peace. Perhaps he could not get the mantle of Captain Britain, but this sword might... help if only a little.
Role Play Sample:
Rupert had been silent; he had made no visible sign that he was listening as the other members of Excalibur talked. Instead, his gaze had been locked to the distance, his senses alert as the rumble stopped. He examined his gloved hand, adjusted the blood-red cloak and briefly glanced in the direction of Betsy as she spoke to her brother; yes, Enchantress was here... Rupert had senses her the moment she set foot on land but made a conscious choice not to say it at the time... why did he not say it? He... should have?
Brian passed him as he walked towards his sister and briefly touched Rupert's arm, giving him a small smile. The two exchanged a wordless communication; nothing was said between them, but still, there was meaning as Rupert nodded.
Rupert did not cheer like the others; he had never once cheered... unless it was at a horse competition or when one of his horses was doing well; in those cases, he could cheer.
He watched the others charge ahead, and for the briefest of moments, he saw his mother's reflection in a nearby window, eyes partly veiled in shadow and lips curled into a bemused smile. She was watching them all right; he did not expect anything else, but what was she really after? Morgan Le Fey had never been a woman to do anything without reason or plan; she would never have allowed another sorceress to invade her domain... unless there was a reason. Rupert's eyes looked at the back of Brian, charging ahead towards battle like so many times before.
Realization struck...
"Shet!" Rupert exclaimed, grasping at his weapon before bolting after the others. It was Brian she was after!

Powers/Abilities:
- Master at Arms: Rupert is a master at handling and wielding weapons, any implement or device that can be used with the intent to inflict damage or harm, be they range or melee. He is a master at arms, and few possess the same skill when it comes to fighting in armed combat. In his hands, any and all weapons, whether primitive, advanced, or alien hardware, become a tool of limitless potential. This ability is, for Rupert, a combination of innately from his previous life and trained from his current.
- What it takes to be a King: Rupert is highly intelligent, both emotionally and logistically. He has an analytical mind and a great grasp of tactics and leadership. Rupert is observant, collected, and quick-thinking in and outside of confrontations; due to being one of the more silent of the group, he also is one of the more observant, spending time to notice things other teammates might have missed or overlooked.
- Blood of the Faeries: Rupert is a powerful sorcerer, and user of fairy magic. He could not compete with his "birth mother" when it came to raw experience and power, the same which could be said for many of the other truly powerful magicians of the world. This has forced him to be more creative with magic to compensate for this. All of his spells are limited to the first and second "stages" of this brand of sorcery, meaning he can cast spells that require incantations but also those that rely only on the motions of hands and fingers. On the positive, his sorcery can achieve a wide range of effects, including telepathy, telekinesis, shape-shifting, generating energy blasts, illusions, slowing down time, hiding, cursing victims, creating barriers, and summoning creatures. The implementation of spells can vary hugely. Some take effect immediately after being cast, while others require specific objects such as crystals, herbs, or potions. There are also some spells and rituals that must be performed at specific times or places. The more powerful the spell, the more time-consuming or difficult it becomes for him to cast, if he can cast them at all.
- Equestrianism: Commonly known by people as horse riding, Rupert is an expert when it comes to horses. He knows how to ride like the best of them, including feats like racing, dressage, show jumping, and general care. Horses and riding are something he deeply enjoys, and he feels the most at home in a stable or the saddle. Despite his personality, he is a remarkably good teacher for horseback riding or the care of horses.
- With the Mind as a Castle: Rupert is highly resistant to mental intrusion, including psychic or empathic powers, Hypnosis, Mental Hallucination, deception, etc. He is not one to easily fall for such things as torture either, and he has a remarkable ability to sustain damage and still remain standing and conscious.

"Bollocks to waiting. Captain Britain, Excalibur! Are you ready to die for your country?"
