Appearance
Koori is a well-built woman, her body toned from constant training since her youth, her skin covered with the scars and marks of someone who walked through hell. Her hair is shoulder-length, a ruddy brown in colour, kept plain and straight. Koori has brown eyes, flecked with long lashes, deep with emotional turmoil and constant foggy remembrance.
Personality
Once a lively girl with a big heart and a charming sense of humour, Koori's experiences have moulded her into a silent and cold individual. Withdrawn and stoic, she still has a charismatic beat to her soul, but one tempered in the fires of war, by the devastation she has seen and the losses she has endured. Koori is a damaged soul, one with a stone casing that she crafted to keep on fighting, lest the ravages of her experiences crush her heart under their immense pressure.
While Koori is not an unapproachable person, she doesn't talk about her background, or her personal feelings much. Instead Koori focuses on the soldiers around her, on the fight against the Titans and on the future, which she wishes to be a bright one for those that follow. Koori often speaks in dry humour, or sarcasm, dripping with the pessimistic views of someone who has seen too much.
She can still be seen with a faint smile, now and then. Koori hasnt losg her sense of humour, fiercely twisted as it now is, and still holds a soft spot for allies (as far as friends go, she doesn't let anyone close enough to claim that title, in case she loses them too). Koori can also sleep pretty much wherever she likes, a trait that has got her through many campaigns and moments in her life.
History
Koori's early years were pleasant and safe. She grew up in an influential family in Sydney, with few problems beyond her doorstep. To say that Koori and her siblings were sheltered from the world beyond would be an understatement. Her parents did all they could to make it so.
Yet they didn't coddle her, or let any of their children go soft. Koori was given the best schooling available, trained in athletics and even trained with the basics of Mobile Suits, from engineering to combat. Her parents seemed to understand that their protection and money wouldn't be enough as enemy powers grew and threatened the Federation.
Koori became more and more aware of the situation beyond her home. When the Zeon Principality was founded in UC 0069, she knew she had to do more than sit at home and watch. Her parents resisted, but Koori had grown into a fierce young woman, intelligent and with fire in her belly.
Koori became a soldier for the Federation in UC 0075, but didn't see action until the start of the One Year War. She was deployed in North America when the Principality declared war, and heard about the Principality's strike against Earth's colonies. Koori remained ready for action, as they prepared for Zeon to push through their front lines outside of orbit and hit Earth itself.
It was only a week into the war when she was ordered to report to her nearest officer. There, her and a dozen other Australian soldiers were informed that the Principality of Zeon had used an uninhabited colony as a weapon, dropping it on Sydney and causing immense damage across Australia and the surrounding island nations.
Koori was dumbstruck. Her family, her home, all gone in the blink of an eye. She had nothing, nothing except Earth to defend and revenge to take for the deaths of those she held most dear. Koori went back to her station at once, a raging inferno inside of her heart. As soon as Zeon troops dropped into North America, Koori was one of the first to greet them. Soldiers around her described her reckless attitude from then on, brutal and violent to any Zeon soul that crossed her.
Koori was deployed for Operation Odessa, where she witnessed the insane casualties on both sides. Yet she fought on, striking hard at the heart of the Zeon mining facilities in Odessa. From there, she moved with the remaining Federation forces to free Europe, Asia and North America. By this point, Koori held a rank of command, leading her own squad to strike the enemy hard.
Nearly one year after her family had been wiped out by Operation British, the war was over. The major fighting had stopped, and Koori left the Federation forces. She had seen enough for one lifetime, and returned to Australia, where many were involved with the clean-up of Sydney and the surrounding territories. Not that there was anything left. It was a rebuild from the ground up. Not even a scrap remained of the Kaulan family, or anyone she had ever known.
Koori was a changed woman after the One Year War. She became quiet, cold and withdrawn, speaking little and focusing entirely on her work. Koori had seen the devastation caused by both sides, and knew the Federation hadn't exactly had clean hands. She buried herself in the rebuild project, until she was approached by an old ally from the War.
The Federation had created a unit of Mobile Suit pilots, who targeted anyone who would speak out against them. They wanted to wipe the remnants of Zeon away, as well as quash any remaining rebellion within the Federation itself. It was wrong. Koori had heard enough. If the Titans continued, then more devastation would happen. More people like her would have their whole worlds taken away.
Koori joined up with AEUG, a group made to fight back against the alarmingly growing fascist Federation and their elite Titans. She had a military background from her service, and had read enough about Mobile Suits to pick one up and pilot it. Koori was part of the assault on Jaburo, which wasn't the success that their leaders wanted, but that wasn't enough to deter her. Now she waits for her next instructions, her rage against Zeon still not quelled but her anger at the Federation growing every day.
