Personal Information

General Personality: Kaede keeps to herself, taking joy in spending time with pokemon in peaceful, quiet moments whom she views as both powerful guardians that protect her family name and family whom she feels comfortable joking and quarreling with. She does not go out of her way to make human friends but when she does try to befriend others, it usually takes either a few praise-worthy battles or one big exciting one. She has a fondness for sweet and spicy with a penchant for practical jokes involving the latter disguised as the former. She is very respectable to her elders and most authority figures while also being kind to children and pokemon alike.  
Habits: Kaede has a flair for the dramatic and will loudly declare her presence, counterintuitive to being a ninja which she tries quite hard to not do. She will also ensure any debt is repaid in full, insisting beyond all reason and will absolutely not take "no" for an answer. Will often stick her left pinky in the corner of her mouth while thinking. 
Goal: To catch all the pokemon illustrated in her journal and to bring honor to her family's ancestors through battle
History: 

The Kanafumi family have been around in Ecruteak City for ages although they've settled in other regions over the years. The origin, however, lies strictly in Ecruteak wherein Kaede has become the latest heiress to their name and their profession; writing...and to a lesser extent Ninjutsu. The Kanafumis have made their living writing and scribing several stories across the various regions but have also had a history as being servants to lords in the past that acted in the shadows to carry out various missions. Kaede, of course, grew up fascinated by the aspect of the family ninjas and the pokemon they had as partners to take down tyrannical parties.

She practiced nonstop everyday while befriending pokemon in the strangest of ways. Little did she realize, her grandmother had been watching and noticed the pokemon that she had been befriending. One day, for her birthday, Kaede received a journal from her grandmother that told stories about their family lineage and of the various pokemon they were seen with. Each one was one Kaede had caught. Her grandmother went on to state that while every Kanafumi had tried, none had ever caught every single pokemon depicted in this book in their lifetime. Her grandmother had tried once but gave up to settle down before she became too old. She figured it was time to pass down the time-honored tradition to Kaede who gladly took up the challenge. In fact, she saw it as a chance to honor all of those who came before her.

When all was said and done, Kaede made her way to Altair City and its expansive region to try and fulfill the dream of her ancestors.
