History
The Library had a long standing operation within the Wasteland. The Horadrim had stood in their path for years, but they had always been able to take the upper hand whenever the two factions clashed. The top minds of the Library came together to discuss how to do this. Using technology they had taken from far off places, their scientists worked tirelessly to create a legion of Perfect Soldiers. They were slow-aging, blank-minded creatures, trained relentlessly in hidden locations for years, until they were the perfect killing machines. These were distributed across the Wasteland, strategically placed with no memories, new personalities and acting like sleeper agents, simply waiting to be activated.
M7-97 was one of these synths.
M7-97 was one of these synths.
Danse was an orphan on the plains of the Wasteland. From a young age he was forced to survive, fleeing from the dangers of the world and scavenging food to feed himself. Danse ran off instinct alone for the most part. He ran with groups of orphans in similar situations, watching as each one died or was killed. He just kept going, existing to live, living to exist.
Danse scavenged his first weapon when is was still single digits. It was a hand-made pistol, nothing fancy, but it started a new chapter in the boy's life. He began protecting other kids, helping orphans and scavengers to stay safe in the Wasteland. Danse became known as a guardian figure among the lowest levels of what people called a society in that desolate place, and accumulated a strong following. Yet he never saw himself as a leader. Danse just wanted to give people the right to feel safe.
Danse spent several years in this role, until he was noticed by a member of the Horadrim. They approached Danse, who was now a young man, and told him how they'd been watching him for a while. Danse fit the bill, a strong stoic man who wanted nothing but to protect the Wasteland and the people within. Danse accepted, knowing that this move would mean he would be able to protect everyone with more resources, better weapons and advanced technology.
Danse became a member of the Horadrim, and soon proved his valour, his steel wills. They gave him a proper weapon, and a suit of Power Armour out of parts scavenged across the Wasteland. Danse became a well-known soldier, wandering between settlements and groups, aiding with wiping out dangerous beasts and villainous people who threatened the safety and lives of those just trying to live their lives in such a perilous place.
Yet something still makes Danse feel like a stranger in this land. Like he is out of place, far removed from the people he strives to hard to protect. Danse has spent his life feeling like this... and everyday searches for the answers as to where he truly belongs.
Drive
Paladin Danse is committed to clearing the Wasteland of those whose goal is to control or destroy its populous. He is the shield for the Frontier, and a spear for the Wasteland, giving his all to bring it back to a place of good, kindness and prosperity.
Additionally, Danse suffers from a feeling of not belonging. He wishes to discover more about who he is, and figure out what the empty void within his soul really means. Danse is looking for self-discovery, a way to find himself and answer life-long questions about his existance.

Personality
Danse is a focused, bull-headed and strong-willed man. He fights for what is right, using his own perceived sense of judgement to make life better for those who can't fight for themselves. An imposing personality, Danse holds no quarter for those who step on anyone below them, and has appointed himself judge, jury and executioner for the inhabitants of the Wasteland.
Danse is fair, and loyal to boot. He knows what is right and wrong, but also appreciates the challenges and struggles of people around him. Danse turns a blind eye to the kind of crimes born from struggle, and sets his sights on higher evils. Stealing a loaf of bread isn't an action to reprimand, but murdering someone for greed will receive his swift fist of justice.
Danse holds worrying thoughts about if the Wasteland can be saved. It doesn't stop him doing what he does, but there are times he often worries if he is doing enough. Evil festers in all corners of the world, and sometimes the fight seems like it may be overwhelming. Danse spends many a night thinking about what he can do to save the people of his world. He keeps hope close to his chest.
In battle, Danse is an unstoppable force of righteousness. Always in his power armer, he would fight until he has no energy left to fight, and even then would keep going. True enemies are relentlessly sought after, foes finding that he is a tenacious and relentless soldier to face. Danse's life is on the line whenever he goes into battle, a necessary sacrifice to protect his allies.
Equipment
T-60 Power Armour
An ancient style of Power Armour, used before the fall of the Wasteland but kept current by great engineers and scientists. Running on fusion core energy, it protects Danse from bullets, weapons, extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
Laser Rifle
A rifle with a range of 150 feet, firing laser-based attacks that are powered by fusion cells.
Electrified Assaultron Blade
A jagged blade, redesigned to hold an electric current along the edges. It can be comfortably wielded in one hand by Danse in his Power Armour, or two-handed when outside of that.
Abilities/Powers
Advanced Combat Training
Danse has a high proficiency with all ranges of combat. His body is a deadly weapon, trained in close combat as well as ranged fighting, being able to pick up most weapons and competently wield them against his enemies.
Advanced Engineering Skills
Danse knows electric and fusion based technology like the back of his hand. He can fix and maintain Power Armour as well as laser-based weaponry, as well as craft electric weapons, such as his Assaultron Blade. Danse can tap into computer systems with more speed than many others, able to get to know software and tech.
Advanced Tactic and Strategy Knowledge
While he doesn't see himself as a leader, Danse knows how to strategist and direct other soldiers. He can look at a situation or a setting and figure out the best course of action to take in order to save the most lives without losing the fight. Danse, strategically, goes for the route which helps people the most, and whatever he can do to reduce the bloodshed of a situation, he will do.
High Intelligence
Danse is a very clever man, with an eidetic memory and the ability to pick up new skills without much hassle.Ranged Weapon Master
Danse has a deadly aim, both short and far distances. He can push his weapons to their fullest distance, landing shots that most snipers would gawp at. Danse can get to know a ranged weapon intimately in a very short amount of time.
Melee Weapon Master
Danse wields close-ranged weapons with a high skill, and doesn't balk from a sword fight. He can pick up a weapon and wield it with skill, even if it is the first time doing so.
Combat Aficionado
Overall, Danse is a killing machine with a conscience. If he wasn't held back by a generally pure nature, he would be fairly unstoppable in many forms of combat. It is his restraint and dislike of unnecessary bloodshed, as well as putting innocent life first, that stops him from harnessing his full potential.
Roleplay Sample
The night was growing cold as the sun fell behind the horizon. A dust storm was brewing there, turning the sky an angry orange as it swept closer. Danse watched it with a steady gaze. Storms sweptnover this settlement on a weekly basis, but they always came back. Life would throw anything it could at his people, but Danse knew how strong they were. How much of a will they had to survive.
What gave him concern was the figures ahead of the storm, figures who he could see clearly. Danse sighed gently, checking his rifle with nimble fingers, despite the fact they were controlling his Power Armour. They were enemies, here to try and disrupt the people living here, to steal resources or take slabes. Danse cocked the rifle, peering down the scope. People who would disrupt the peaceful life that the members of this community tried so desperately to cling onto.
Danse wouldn't let that happen. He peered down the barrel, waiting for the moment that they would step into range. He wouldn't let them get any further than they had to.
"War. War never changes."
