In the beginning, there was nothingness. No tangible thing existed. No such thing as existence, either. Then, it sprang into reality. Darkness. It was here first and reigned supreme. From it, feeble things grew strong and crawled from the murky abyss. But the longer it persisted, the more it came to realize it was not alone. In fact, this is when it came to realize that there existed another entity alongside it that shared its all-encompassing nature. Light. The more these two intermingled, the more difficult it became for them to coexist. They were always vying for the territory the other claimed. But the Light insisted that without it, Darkness would not even exist in the first place. But Darkness was convinced it was the first thing that existed and refused to believe Light. But what Darkness did not notice was that Light sprung into existence at the same time. They needed common ground if they were to ever get along but Darkness wanted to claim the vast majority. A great battle waged and from it came forth an entity they did not account for; life. And thus several worlds sprang forth from their point of first contact. These worlds were connected so harmoniously, it was as if they had already existed for much longer than either Light or Darkness.
But Darkness was averse and decided there needed more balance. From it, it set loose the creations that had been manifesting in itself since time immemorial. Then Light, seeing this threat, armed its denizens with the ability to fight back such things. The moment it did, however, the two would clash again for one final time as pure entities and the result would bring about several things. The first was a separate, paramount plane of existence dubbed Kingdom Hearts and from it came the existence of hearts that found their place within every form of life. Jealous of what these beings of the light had, the remnants of Darkness manifested themselves as the Heartless. Their number incalculable, they unknowingly hunted down the things that their rival had created. Because Darkness had always wanted it all. And thus, the remnants of Light manifested themselves in the form of Keyblades. Not only were these tools to combat the Heartless but also the ones that could unlock any lock and were the secret to uncovering the mystery of Kingdom Hearts. But with these new developments, several more creations emerged and thus the world at large suffered.
Eventually, the worlds became separated, cleaved from the main and sent hurtling into space and beyond. They would be cut off from every other world and then time would pass. Legend turned to myth and the stories of the past were carried through time until only scraps of what was once reality remained. Only the large world that remained had any bare recollection of it all. The one dubbed Scala Ad Caelum. Tradition dictated the use of ones adept at Keyblades as Masters to carry on the ways of old to combat the ever-present Heartless threat throughout all of reality.
But only until recently had this world been without any Masters. It wasn’t until a new rift in the world began to emerge that had awakened three Masters of old. One that threw not only time but space as well into disarray. Darkness was on the rise, stronger than ever and a driving force was behind it all. One that threatens to shatter existence as all know it. But the three Masters knew that they alone would not be enough. They knew the Light and the Darkness and the existence between would champion new Keyblades to their aid. Children whose hearts were brimming with potential.
These children would be called into action.
The worlds they called home would be pulled asunder in one way or another by the new forces that came to be. One by one, they would be called to Scala Ad Caelum where they would learn, train, and keep the peace of the new threat that loomed alongside others.
This was only the beginning of an old rivalry engaging in a new battle that would surpass the rest. Because now,more than ever, the legend of Kingdom Hearts would play a pivotal role in deciding the destiny of all. An oath to destiny.
