Servant Information
True Name: Okita Souji
Alias: Saber, Sakura Saber, Captain of the Shinsemgumi
Class: Saber
History:
Okita was born into a samurai family within the Shirakawa Domain in Japan in 1842, however, her father Katsujiro unfortunately died when she was still young, only three years later. Her older sister, Mitsu, later became an adoptive daughter of the third master of the Tennen Rishin Ryu, Kondo Shusuke, so Okita began training at the Shieikan with him around the age of nine. She proved to be an excellent prodigy, mastering all of his techniques by the age of eighteen, and obtained the Menkyo Kaiden scroll from the school, her license of total transmission. A year later, Okita became the head coach at the Shieikan to help train the other students for a few years. Okita departed for Kyoto in 1863, and soon became a founding member of the Shinsengumi, at the time, the second youngest among those from the Shieikan. According to most sources, Okita's tuberculosis was first discovered during the Ikedaya incident, where she fainted seemingly out of the blue, although this was likely inaccurate, as while tuberculosis may vary widely in the length of its affliction, people rarely survived longer than a year after having reached the point of collapse, while Okita kept going for well more than four. Despite some researchers now believing the collapse was caused by anemia or heatstroke, public perception largely has not changed. In 1865, Okita became the captain of the first unit of the Shinsengumi, and also served as a kenjutsu instructor. Later that year, she was appointed by Kondo Isami to be the fifth master of the Tennen Rishin Ryu, succeeding him. During the Boshin War, after the Battle of Toba-Fushimi in 1868, Okita was admitted into Matsumoto Ryōjun's hospital in Edo. When the shogun's forces, Shinsengumi included, retreated to the Tohoku region, Okita was the only member who remained in Edo as her illness progressed. She died from tuberculosis on July 19th, and later that night, was buried at the Sensō-ji Temple in Tokyo.
Personality:
Okita is typically a cheerful and kindhearted girl, with a positive attitude and a constant thirst for excitement. She also carries a strong sense of pride, but can get flustered when embarrassed. She gets restless when there is nothing to do, but thankfully, does not get bored easily. On the other hand, during missions, she remains very level-headed and objective-oriented. She is fond of sweets such as dumplings and small candy.
Physical Appearance:
Clothing and Armor:
Okita typically wears a white, sleeveless, short kimono, bound by a black obi with aquamarine trim. She also wears flexible black athletic padding, covering her arms from her wrists to past her elbows, and the majority of her legs from the soles of her feet up to her thighs. She also ties her hair back with a black bow, and depending on the weather, often can be seen with her black scarf or her Shinsengumi haori.
Casual Clothing
Swimsuit
Weapons of Choice:
Okita wields her beloved katanas, Kojiki Kiyomitsu, and Kiku-Ichimonji Norimune. They may seem like ordinary katanas, but their craftsmanship and refinement are top of the line.
Noble Phantasms:
Mumyou Sandanzuki: Lightless, Three-Stage Thrust [Rank EX Anti-Unit Mystic Sword]
The ultimate technique developed by the young prodigy, Okita Souji. It comprises of a first, second, and third thrust that occur simultaneously through unmatched technique and speed utilizing the Hira-Seigan stance. With just three steps, she warps space, erasing any gap in distance between herself and her opponent. These three thrusts are not “almost simultaneous”, but truly and completely at the same instant and location. Even if the opponent manages to block the first attack, they will not be able to block the second and third. This paradox creates an Event Saturation Phenomenon, causing a localized breakdown in causality at the tip of the sword, making it virtually impossible to protect against. As a result of this phenomenon, it transcends the capabilities of ordinary destruction of matter.
Coat of Oaths [Rank C Self]
The official uniform of the Shinsengumi force, this haori belonged to Okita during her time in the force in the Bakumatsu period in Kyoto. Its pale aquamarine and white color palette made it stand out from the standard browns and greys that warriors of the time usually wore. When Okita wears it, it vastly improves her own parameters, and her weapons receive a rank-up.
Flag of Sincerity [Rank B Anti-Army]
The flag of the Shinsengumi troops that Okita owned, inscribed with the kanji for sincerity. When the flag is raised, it summons Shinsengumi troops, within a certain range. Each summoned squad member is their own servant, with the Independent Action skill at an E- rank, limiting their action to a relatively short duration as they lack masters. However, the number of deployed squad members is rather low compared to other similar Noble Phantasms like Iskandar's Ionioi Hetairoi. Every single captain of the Shinsengumi is remembered within the flag, but the summoned members are composed of the mental imagery of the user, meaning their personalities and aspects will often change depending on the user, and there are some who will not answer the summoning at all, if they are on bad terms with the wielder to being with. Fortuntely, Okita is a rather popular Shinsengumi, and few if any will decline her call.
Skills:
Magic Resistance - E
As a Heroic Spirit having lived in a time where Mystery was thin, and magic was not common, Okita's resistance to magic is unusually low for a Saber, and is likely only resistant to the extent she is because of her classification as a Saber.
Riding - E
With the Shinsengumi only having ridden on horses, Okita's riding skill is also unusually low. Despite there being no recounts of Okita actually having ridden a horse, she likely also has this skill because of her classification as a Saber.
Reduced Earth - B+
A movement technique to close the distance between opponents instantly, honed by martial artists that have pursued the extremes of step movements. Not from sheer quickness, but rather the combination of numerous phenomena factoring into the single technique - those of walking, precise body movement, controlled breathing, and the use of blind spots. It can be treated as a sort of a dimension leap, in the category of Sage Techniques.
Weak Constitution - A
A weakness struck by the nature of frail health, it is the result of having suffered from tuberculosis in her lifetime. Unfortunately, her existence as a Heroic Spirit has been affected by future generations' perspective of this health issue. She carries the risk of sudden affliction at any moment, though the likeliness is amplified during combat or other intense physical activity.
Peerless Blade - A
A moment of clarity and resolve brought about by rivalry and the desire to break one’s own boundaries to emerge triumphant. In the situation that Okita finds herself evenly matched with an adversary, she can find herself filled with a surge of mana to become even stronger, her mind quicker, her blade sharper, all to succeed in the decisive moment.
Eye of the Mind (False) - A
The natural talent to sense and avoid danger based on an innate intuition. In Okita's case, like several others, it is a natural instinct she has had that cannot be obtained through effort or experience, even if experience can refine its accuracy.
"...I'm used to it. Don't worry about me."
Master Information
Name: Gray
Age: 16
Gender: Female
History:
A mysterious girl with an unknown upbringing, the individual known only as Gray was supposedly born in a cemetery. For as long as she could remember, Gray had been scavenging for herself in her hometown in the English countryside, until one chilly fall afternoon, a certain man, Lord El-Melloi II, also known as Waver Velvet came across the girl while visiting the aforementioned town. Her uncanny resemblance to the Saber Artoria Pendragon caught Waver off-guard, bringing back unpleasant memories of the Fourth Holy Grail War, but his curiosity got the better of him, and he brought the young girl under his wing.
Back in London, Gray ended up becoming an apprentice under Waver, though it was only when he began to assess the girl's magical capabilities that Gray brought up the subject of her birdcage, which contained a unique Mystic Code to her, that also had a name, personality, and could speak. She mentioned that its ability to transform into a scythe was what had allowed her to defend herself all these years alone, but spoke of little else about it. Having quickly gotten used to Gray's rather taciturn personality, Waver decided against inquiring further about Add, though he would eventually learn more later during their travels, investigating various mysteries in the thaumaturgy world. Gray ended up using many of these investigations to further develop her own skills, though most of the time, it was not of her own volition. It was during one of these cases that her possession of the Noble Phantasm, Rhongomyniad, became apparent, wherein Add confirmed for her that its true purpose was to maintain the Noble Phantasm's mystery. This knowledge was kept a secret between the two, but it also sparked a desire in Gray to learn more about her ancestor.
After learning of the existence of the current Holy Grail War situation, the girl knew it would be folly to get involved. Yet, with her mentor already being about as wrapped up in a messy situation as one could get, she surmised that there might be the chance that her ancestor, King Arthur, was currently walking the earth, and figured she hardly had anything to lose. Though, it would probably be for the worst if she were to end up summoning a heroic spirit that knew her ancestor - that could make the situation far messier than it needed to. Instead, preparing the summoning ritual in secret (and to the girl's inner thanks, a clean success), she came face to face with someone who looked... strangely like herself as well, despite further conversation disclosing that her own Saber, the proud Shinsengumi captain Okita Souji, was in no way related to Arthur. Having already been concealing Add's cage under her cloak, it was no stretch to also keep her Command Seals largely hidden...
Personality:
Gray is the loner type, having been used to fending for herself for as long as she can remember. She typically remains quiet, but when interacting with others, is generally polite, though occasionally layering in some dry sarcasm. The curious sort, Gray doesn't like being kept in the dark, and will typically do whatever she needs to in order to learn more — if she feels that her current level of information is insufficient for the situation, it leaves her rather uncomfortable. While Gray has an analytic mind, she rarely feels the need to consult others unless doubt clouds her thoughts, and the vast majority of the time, often sets off on her own to do things. This habit has only been tempered through trial and error, but she generally believes in her own ability for these occurrences not to become hazardous. Gray joined the Holy Grail War after careful consideration, having learned enough stray information from her teacher, Waver, to make her decision — mostly geared towards her interest in the possibility of learning more about her ancestry, including the legendary King Arthur. She claims she doesn't currently have a wish for the Holy Grail in mind, but would think about it later if it became more apparent that it more than just a faint possibility.
Magical Preference:
In terms of standard magic, Gray is preferential to the Earth element, proficient in an assortment of basic spells with a handle on several intermediate-level ones, with the potential for more, although she remains careful of her progress and dislikes pushing her limits excessively. Gray also possesses the capabilities of the Noble Phantasm, Rhongomyniad: Spear Shining at the End of the World [Rank A+ Anti-Fortress], the holy lance of King Arthur passed down through generations having preserved its Mystery through the Tradition Carrier trait, as a distant descendant of the legendary king. She also possesses a unique mystic code, named Add, whose true purpose is to preserve Rhongomyniad's mystery. However, Add does have its own personality and is capable of speech. It is usually in the form of an ornate cube kept in a birdcage hidden under Gray's cloak. The primary combat form of Add is a large scythe called Grim Reaper: Scythe of the Death God. It can consume spiritual bodies and Magical Energy, converting it into physical enhancements for its wielder by running it through Gray's magic circuits into her nerves and muscles to boost her strength and speed beyond what a normal mage's reinforcement magecraft is capable of. This energy can also be used to strength Grim Reaper's physical form, with no penalty on Gray's combat effectiveness. Grim Reaper can also be thrown into the air to create a pillar of shadow on the corresponding ground, which Gray can remotely detonate, similar to a variation of the church's Baptism Sacrament, with an incredible capability to cleanse mana. When in scythe form, there exists a special chant to rescind Add's second restraint, the one concealing Rhongomyniad, at which point it will disable the Mystic Code's pseudo-personality and allow Gray to wield the holy spear. This has a similar effect on Gray herself, causing her consciousness to slip into a trance-like state, wherein her eyes turn gold and she can feel a second sense of self taking control. Rhongomyniad's rank is typically A++, but Gray cannot wield its full capacity, so it exists for her as a Rank A+ Noble Phantasm instead. If necessary, Rhongomyniad can be further strengthened by releasing the Thirteen Restraints of the Round Table, an approval process beginning with the key phrase "Seal Thirteen, Decision Start." For each condition fulfilled, the power of the spear is enhanced, although Gray cannot release too many seals as she risks breaking her Mystic Code from the strain of the sheer power.
Visual Appearance:
Gray's eyes turn golden when unlocking the capabilities of Rhongomyniad.
