History
A farmer's daughter born in rural France, she was raised by her father and mother and had a typical childhood. At the appropriate age she went to school, learning various things including how to speak English, and when she got old enough she also helped around the farm. She hated the manual labor at first but eventually got used to it. In her free time she mostly read books, often fantasy books. Tales of great heroes felling mighty villains, with intrigue and drama were her favourites. Her father thought she was wasting her time reading so much fiction but her mother encouraged them. She would also sometimes go exploring in the woods near her home, usually just enjoying the fresh air, inspecting flowers and herbs, and just generally seeing the sights.
Something interesting would happen on her adventures however. When she was a little over 10 she found a hill deep in the woods. Or, more specifically, found a weird stone structure built into the side of a hill. It looked like some kind of door and had lots of weird markings on it. Being a fantasy fanatic there was a part of her that was filled with childish wonder that this was some kind of secret passage. She reached out to touch the door... And nothing happened. Aww come on, really? She would then kick the door and immediately regret it as she stubbed her toe. Fine, you win this round, door! But she swore she would find a way to open it. The next day she came back with her notebook and a few other items. She tried a few things, like brushing the dust off the weird symbols, or tracing them in chalk. She'd also try to chip away at it with a trowel which didn't even so much as dent the hard stone. After some time she gave up and went home. Then she came back a week later, and a week after that. She tried everything she could to open the door, but as time went on she started to slowly doubt it was even a door at all. Maybe it was just a weird carving and she was being silly. Weeks went by, then months, then a year. Even as her faith in it faltered she couldn't help but keep coming back, not able to ever let it go. She eventually gave up on ever figuring out what it was... But it was a pretty peaceful place, so she decided to make it her reading spot. The only flaw with it was the hike out to it. She had to climb and jump and hop across multiple stones of a river, and it took like an hour and a half. She wasn't a frail girl by any means but it did tire her out, sometimes she'd end up taking a nap. Even still, something about the location drew her to it day after day. A few more years would go by uneventfully, with her doing well in school, helping around the farm, and hiking out to her favourite reading spot. Life seemed pretty simple, but Lucille was happy. However, something amazing happened one fateful day...
She had hiked out to her favourite reading spot like normal, climbing and jumping and hopping from rock to rock. Over the years of doing this she had gotten pretty good at the route. It took less and less time to get to her spot, able to get the time down to around an hour. When she got there she leaned up against the wall and got ready to open her bookâbut then a rumbling made her yelp and she backed up. Before her very eyes the stone she had once tried so hard to open just... Parted, for basically no reason. She stared in wonder for a few seconds then scrambled to hurry inside, her curiosity burning brightly. She'd follow some stairs down and come face to face with an open underground chamber. All along the walls down and the walls of the chamber itself would be strange glowing lines, and inside the chamber itself she'd see a large glowing pool of water. The walls would also be covered in more strange inscriptions. Her eyes would just take in the whole scenery as she scribbled furiously in her notebook. This place is so... Magical-like! She almost thought she was dreaming. After a little while, something would feel... Off. She felt invigorated, like she had just woken up from a long night's rest. She supposed the thrill of discovery was enough to amp her up, and she certainly was thrilled by her discovery. This whole place was amazing! She had to wonder what took so long for the door to open...
After a decent amount of time spent in the amazing shrine, Lucille would decide to finally head home. She would hop up the stairs and since she felt so energized she decided to race herself back home. Running through the forest felt amazing, and she could swear she felt lighter on her feet. She didn't struggle to balance on the stones across the river, and she felt like she could react to things quicker. She didn't question it, sometimes you just have a good day and things turn out juuuust right. When she finally made it back home she checked her time and... Forty minutes? She managed to shave a third off her usual time! She smiled in pride and went to say hi to her parents and get ready for the evening as the sun headed toward the horizon.
Later that evening though, disaster struck. While she and her parents were eating dinner, something knocked on the door. Her mother would answer it, and immediately be pounced on by some strange shadow creature. Trailing in behind the creature was a swarm of smaller blobs, which proceeded to clamber all over her screaming mother. Her father jumped in to try and help, but he only ended up getting swarmed too. Lucille would watch helplessly as her parents struggled. Progressively her parents' screams quieted, and the creatures turned to her. Seeing her parents get... Killed, by these creatures... Something awakened inside of her, and she snapped.
It was all a blur of rage and instinct, and by the time she became cognizant again she was surrounded by smashed blobs, and she had sunk a kitchen knife into the chest of the larger creature. She stumbled backwards in surprise. What the heck just happened?! She called for her parents, but... They were gone. She knew it to be true. She shuddered and stumbled out of her home, fleeing into the night in a mixture of fear, sorrow, and confusion. She grabbed a pitchfork on her way out, and hiked all the way back to the shrine. Even in the dark she found the hike easier than normal, but it was no solace to her. When she finally made it to the shrine, there was no amazement as the door opened for her, and there was no wonder as she found her way into its underground chamber. She simply curled up in the corner and cried, for what seemed to be forever...
She would spend the next week or so hiding out in the shrine, using it as a sanctuary. She wasn't sure why she fled to this place but she felt instinctively that those creatures wouldn't be able to enter. She would occasionally leave to forage, and even managed to kill and cook a small rabbit. She would occasionally get attacked by a couple of those blobs when she ventured out but in small numbers even a dainty farmgirl seemed capable of smashing them with her trusty pitchfork. Thankfully the pool of water in the shrine was fresh, so she didn't have to worry about that at least. It was a lonely week, but all of that would change when a stranger arrived at her doorstep... (This will be where her first thread starts.)
Appearance
Physical Appearance
Lucille is a young girl with lithe features and an average height, standing around 5'3''. Though she spent most of her free time reading, helping around the farm did help her achieve a decent level of fitness. Her light brown hair cascades in little curls and spirals down the sides of her head well past her shoulders, though she often ties it in a braid or ponytail. Her striking grey eyes show a distinct intelligence and curiosity, though also carry a deep sorrow. Any time she smiles it seems disingenuous.
Clothing/Armor
Lucille is a practical girl, usually wearing what's comfortable or useful rather than what's pretty. If the situation calls for a dress she'll certainly wear one, but if the situation calls for overalls and a t-shirt she has no qualms with that either. Her clothing preferences can effectively be boiled down to 'whatever works'.
Weapon
"W... Weapons? I-I don't really have any of those, unless you count a pitchfork I guess,"
Misc.
Lucille doesn't have any tattoos or piercings. ("Though I'm not opposed to getting any now that, uhh... I don't have parents to tell me no...")
Personality
General Personality
Lucille is a somewhat reserved and nervous person. She usually likes to stay quiet and keep to herself, though she doesn't HATE talking to people. She does have a bit of a snarky streak when she's annoyed though. Lucille is fundamentally a curious soul however, and is very easily fascinated and impressed by supernatural things like magic and adventure due to how many story books she's read. She tends not to smile very much, and seems to carry a heavy weight on her shoulders. She also tends to have a very black-and-white view of the world. Overall she's a kind person and tries her best to do the right thing.
Likes/Dislikes
Lucille LOVES to read and has a fascination with all things supernatural. She also likes learning new things as long as those new things are interesting (and what she defines as 'interesting' tends to be inconsistent). She absolutely hates Heartless and creatures similar to them.
Dreams/Goals
Lucille is in a crossroads in her life. As a young teen she hasn't decided on a path for herself, and now more than ever she has no direction in her life. Perhaps with time her dreams and ambitions will take a more definitive form.
