General Information
Name: Edan Atlas
Race: Nobody (formerly Human)
Gender: Nonbinary presenting, if they have another preference they have not shared it. However, an occasional use of 'she/her' does not seem to bother them.
Role: Ally
Origin World: They do not remember the name of their world, or many other specifics about it--only that it was a world that completely fell to Darkness, at the level of technological and social development that Humanity's Haven would have termed, Renaissance.
Age: 23 (they think)
History: Edan does not remember much of their life before they became what they are now. They mostly remember being happy, so they must have a family, right? Or at least some form of loved ones.
What they do recall clearly is their name--and their imprisonment before their world fell. They clearly remember being attacked by a swarm of dull black blobs that they later learned are called Heartless, and that they had not been the only one to be attacked, but they had been the only one survive such an encounter. They remember trying to defend themselves against the Heartless with powers they barely understood themselves. That others witnessed their apparent survival, their use of said powers to fend the Heartless off, and branded them as a witch, which had been what led to them being chained up in the village square while the villagers attempted to decide what to do with them.
Unfortunately for the villagers, they did not have time to decide. This world had been seeing a steady rise of Heartless attacks everywhere, and before long the village, as well as other villages, towns, and cities in all directions, was under siege. Even with the arrival of a man wielding a strange blade who seemed to be able to actively dispatch the Heartless, able to buy time for them to do something, things remained grim. Before long reinforcements arrived, Edan called to the man to free them, they could help, and with only a moment's thought he did so, breaking their chains, and she did her best to help him hold back the tide.
But it was no use, and one by one, the villagers fell to the horde, until Edan was the only local left. With no order in this world left to defend, the man beckoned for Edan to follow him through the gateway which he'd used to come here, a gateway unlike any they had ever seen before, that led to a place her rescuer called Scala Ad Caelum.
He got them settled, and for a little while Edan just took the time to recover...but they wanted to do more, to find a way to restore their world. And themselves, as they soon had discovered they did not quite feel whole. Over time, private research, and training to become fit to aid those who travel to other worlds, Edan figured out why they did not feel quite right. Everything they could tell about themselves, pointed to them having lost their Heart. And there was only one way, as far as they could tell, to recover it. They trained harder than ever, until they, and those in charge here, felt they were ready to provide that aid, knowing they'd have to be actively out there to achieve that goal.
Appearance
Image:
Winged throwing Daggers: Edan keeps multiple of these on their body for cases when magic either won't work, or when their mana reserves are low. The blades are steel but the edges lined by extremely thin strips of paper all around, as well as lines of paper-formed 'string' connecting them back to their body, which allows them to not only keep the weapons sharper, but exert control and return them to the sheathes within their robes after being thrown without using magic to do so. Two are sheathed along each arm and leg, and four more at different points around their waist, allowing for multiple angles of attack.
Hairpins: Fancy in appearance but potentially deadly when utilized in a fight, these are normally used to control Edan's hair both in and out of combat. Each individual hairpin can also be individually pulled to use as a needle-like dart to keep foes at bay when mana reserves are low. Like the daggers, a thin 'thread' of paper is attached to pull them back again after being thrown--or potentially trip up the feet of foes with a makeshift web of those threads.
Misc.: While Edan does not use makeup, they do have a taste for jewelry--anklets that often resemble the cuffs they were freed from, similarly short 'chains' hanging from bracelets, and earrings that resemble bookmarks, are the most prominent, though all of these frequently have faux jewels as part of their decor, usually in their favorite colors. These are generally fairly durable but still come off when a mission is expected.
Edan currently does not have any kind of transformations, but they do have a bottle of black ink, and a quill, for whenever they wish to note something down

Physical Appearance: Edan is a tall individual, thin to the point there is always someone wondering if they eat enough. Their hair is a dirty blond that hangs straight down to their lower back when untamed, but is usually kept up in a large bun, or a ponytail that coils around their shoulders like a snake. Their skin is pale from not spending much time in the sun, and red eyes peer curiously out at the world during those times they don't have their small nose buried in a book. They do have multiple faint scars over their body, several of which are on their arms, wrists, and the backs of their hands, but nearly all of them are from a time before Edan can remember anything clearly. They don't really tend to try and bother with makeup except for extremely formal occasions, settling for clean and neat as enough most of the time.
Clothing/Armor: Edan prefers loose, billowy clothes such as robes, tunics, and sometimes even dresses, allowing for freedom of movement, objects hidden among the billows, and sometimes even using those clothes in combat as necessary. They generally prefer contrasting colors of light and dark, with their favorite colors being red and blue. They don't generally use armor, preferring to use magic and their natural durability for defense if necessary. On their feet, they generally either go barefoot, or wear sandals, regardless of the heat or cold of the enviornment.
Weapon(s):
Spell book: Edan's primary 'weapon,' the front half contains all the spells they currently know, automatically updating when they learn new spells, as well as providing a source of paper for their natural powers to use even when their actual magic is limited. It is also heavy and durable enough to be used as a bludgeon in a pinch, though Edan would prefer not to have to use it this way. (Incidentally, the second half of the book also contains many little journal entries, just day to day thoughts Edan has from time to time, or little sketches of things they have seen or imagined.) Its internal space always expands magically to contain everything it needs to without changing its weight--should it ever be close to full.

Personality
General Personality: Edan's emotions are muted. That isn't to say they don't exist, but it's like someone threw a blanket over them and muffled them, making them harder to truly feel, especially if Edan is not paying attention and is absorbed in what they are doing at the time. They remember having emotions, one of the things they are sure about their previous life, but even when actively trying to connect with them, sometimes it is difficult to fully connect with them. Ultimately, this leads to them often choosing the path that is practical rather than emotional. Not to say that they ever choose a path that is immoral, but if they are forced to choose between a friend and a critical mission, particularly in which lives are on the line, they are far more likely to favor the mission without so much as a blink. This does not mean that they ignore their feelings when they notice them, and like others, Edan can find things funny, sad, infuriating, or disgusting. They can chuckle at a well-told joke, smile when in the presence of a friend, or cry when they have to leave a friend behind, even if sometimes they have to remind themselves what expressions to use when appropriate. Even though they prefer to make friends with those who they know can help them in their goals, sometimes even they are taken aback by what life just throws at them and learn to like someone despite any perceived flaws or annoying behavior.
Likes/Dislikes:
Likes:
Creative arts--Specifically, Edan can immerse themselves for hours in writing about and sketching their surroundings, and occasionally just imaginative things that catch their fancy, or even imagining what more powers and spells they can do with their abilities.
Reading--immersing themself in a good story is one of the few ways Edan can still fully experience emotions as they empathize with the characters. But fiction is not the only kind of reading they enjoy. They also enjoy research just for the sake of learning, sometimes, and sometimes they channel this passion into useful subjects, such as magic.
Training--Edan is not a complete bookworm, they like practicing their skills, from talents, to spells, to physical abilities. Or sometimes, just getting exercise to stay in shape.
Dislikes:
Bodily necessities--specifically Edan hates having to take breaks from their other activities to eat, drink, and sleep. Especially sleep, as in sleep, dreams often come, nightmares that make them uncomfortable and actually sometimes have them wake up in a cold sweat. But, they also seem to lack much ability to taste, so consuming food and drink is largely just a chore for them and so they often forget those as well.
Lack of practicality: They cannot comprehend, at all, someone who operates purely on emotion and instinct. An occasional irrational choice isn't going to get more than a raised brow, but someone who just always acts without ever once considering the logic of their course can actively draw acerbic comments from her sometimes, if those individuals don't ever seem to learn from or benefit from what Edan sees as their mistakes.

Dreams/Goals:
Edan's greatest, biggest goal is to reunite themselves with their heart and become a whole person again. Most other goals are either secondary to, connected to, or otherwise derived from this biggest one. They know they need to make friends and other connections to accomplish this, but also desire those connections. They also want to know what it's like to feel again, they miss feelings unmuted by their incomplete nature, even while simultaneously looking askance at those who operate completely on their own feelings. The one dream they have completely separate from all that, is to make something of worth to give to the world. A piece of art, a book. An origami or paper mâché sculpture. Something of beauty or wonder others can appreciate.

Abilities
Skills: List any special talents your character might have that aren’t spells i.e. transformation, extra strength, woodworking
Durability: The natural consequence of being a Nobody, Edan is quite physically tough. It is difficult to significantly wound them with just one strike unless it is a naturally strong attack, an object they are struck with is incredibly sharp. They still prefer to not get hit if they can avoid it without sacrificing an advantage, however, as they can still feel pain and it is as uncomfortable for them as anyone else.
Papyrokinesis: Ever since surviving their first encounter with a heartless, Edan has found themself able to manipulate the paper around themselves without touching it. Without actual magic, most of what they can currently do is small tricks like levitating a handful of pieces of paper or pulling on the paper strings attached to their hairpins or daggers. It also gives them an innate sense of how much to fold and where in order to make objects out of paper, though complicated origami patterns will likely take some focus to do properly.
Photographic Memory: Their whole memory isn't perfect, but anything they see they can perfectly recall to mind.
Sponge: Currently, they have not figured out a use for it, but consider it a mere curiosity--ink that splashes against them gets quickly absorbed and disappears. Other liquids do too, to some extent, but ink gets absorbed the fastest. Curiously, water seems to go directly into their system and supplements the need to drink.
