General Information
Name: Garland
Race: Devoid
Gender: Rage (he/him)
Role: Freelancer ( "Light, Darkness, even the Void. None of these heady ideas matter to me. I simply go where there is conflict. I seek only battle")
Origin World:
Age: Judging by his voice, at least 50
Appearance
Physical Appearance: There are old reports, before the world fell, of what the man looked outside of his armor. A tall man, obviously, with extremely short blonde hair and scratchy facial hair. Light blue eyes of surprising softness given his otherwise hard features. A muscular build, and a scar across the bridge of his nose. How he is now, however, there is no telling there IS a physical form under the armor.
Clothing/Armor: Garland's TRUE body, a massive set of armor, black and grey, with dark blues and purples as accent colors. A grand, horned full helmet covering his face, and a cape draped from his neck down to his ankles.
Weapon(s): A massive greatsword nearly as wise as his torso (shoulder to shoulder). Segmented blade sections to both extend it as a 'whip' to catch enemies, or change it's shape into an axe like shape and use, or even split into two separate blades. For the most part, however, he simply swings in, as the single giant blade, one handed.
Misc. :
Personality
General Personality: One would think that the personality of one whose stated sole interest is conflict would be 'lacking' at most. However Garland has standards rules of conduct he will not bend from. Yes, his sole interest is conflict, battle, a dragged out fight between two sides until one side can no longer stand. He will lie to start a fight, he will take hostages, he will attack those unwilling to raise a defense. However, he has standards. He would never use a hostage as a human shield, he will simply take them to demand a fight, and then release them. He would not attack an ally simply to attack his target. And once an opponent is unable to keep fighting, he will stop attacking. There is no 'conflict' born by attacking those unable to fight. No 'conflict' if they are not allowed to strike back.
Dreams/Goals: To become CHAOS (impossible), or to find a glorious end (also impossible)
Abilities
Magic: While not a spell he can cast, there is a magic, due to the paradox that created him, infused into his very being... Garland cannot truly die in combat. No matter how many times he is struck down, he will simply return to CHAOS, from the same paradox swirl that brought him there before. Garland can, eventually, die of his choosing, simply refusing to awaken again. Or he can be banished by CHAOS himself. And if, somehow, the connection between the two is severed, this infinite loop would also disappear. However CHAOS would have little want for this, given the nature the two share.
Otherwise, he has little to no magical ability himself, or if he does he has no intent to use them
Bond Information
Faction Link(s): Garland answers to CHAOS, first and foremost. However, given their nature, what this leads to is Garland often just, left to wander the worlds, and sow chaos on them through violence. Challenging the strong, terrifying the weak. He would often fall, and yet awaken again at the feet of his god. He has little interest in the organized structure of these factions, their goals, the war of Light and Dark. He simply seeks conflict. This often puts him against those of the Light more than not, and especially those wishing to protect their peace, their world's order. But it has placed him against Darkness as well, and the spectrum between. There are few who would search him out, and none who are pleased to see him appear.
Journal Info
Journal Blurb: A once proud knight, a terrifying force of violence, an unkillable paradox. The man known as Garland, a Devoid of a world in temporal flux. Advent of CHAOS, trapped in an endless cycle. None of these facts change how dangerous he is.
Quote: "I, Garland, WILL KNOCK YOU ALL DOWN! "
Notes: He likes to eat spicy without drinking or eating anything to lessen to sensation... no one is really sure how he can eat or drink without removing his helmet

History:
There was once a world, where balance, the very flow of nature, had gone wrong. A world where tornado ravaged homes, yet no breeze could carry a ship to port. Where the seas raged with life and danger, yet no drop could give relief or succor. Flames rained from the sky, yet gave no warmth or comfort. The very earth quaked, and drained the life of anything attempting to grow. The world, was naught but CHAOS... And then, arose the crystals. The crystals, channeled the very powers of the world, and brought order, brought protection, brought light to this troubled world. And so life flourished. People lived, cultured bloomed, peace, though no absolute, reigned, but CHAOS lurked still in the corners of the world, waiting to rise again.
There was a knight on this world, by name of Garland. He kidnapped a princess, and ransomed the kingdom he once protected for her safe return. Why did he do this? Was it simply lust for power? Was he bewitched by the princess's charms? Was it a ploy, to ensure the weakening of the crystals' light? Was his mind addled, by the whispers of destiny? The flames, of CHAOS? These were never truly known, as shortly after he made off with the princess, 4 warriors of Light appeared, and defeated him. And then, the crystals darkened, CHAOS returned to this world, and all was destroyed. And at the center of the remains, cast adrift on the seas of the world, was the last remaining shard of this existence. That horned armor, that grand blade, the flowing cape, this was Garland, through and through.
Garland was eventually found by a much greater being than himself, a great and terrible 'god' if ever there was one. He was found by CHAOS. He knew, looking upon the great horned beast, Arms as grand as his blade, wings like a billowing cape, that he was looking upon himself magnified. Or was it CHAOS who looked down upon himself, diminished? Was this Devoid clad in metal and wrath, even the remains of a planet lost? Of the few who may have heard of this tragedy, some would lament the world fallen to CHAOS. Some would question what your eyesight, and point out the world in the sky, bright as any other star. Some would even say such a world does not yet exist. And yet, Garland the Devoid, persisted.
The world Garland came from, did end, and yet it is still safe. It was shattered, and yet the crystals shine on with the power of Light. Garland's actions doomed his home, yet he was always doomed from the start. His home had become a paradox of existence, as the means by which the crystals darkened altered the flow of time in his world. It was lost, yet it was never lost. He is a Devoid, of a world, of a time, that never was. He has no world to try and bring back. A shattered time, a broken existence. Someday, far off in his past, Garland will become CHAOS, however, CHAOS already existed before his time, and can never become the knight standing before him now. Two points in time, in the same space, never able to break free.

Likes/Dislikes:
He likes fighting, battle, conflict, power, being strong, and being beaten by those stronger than him.
He hates situations solved without combat, those with power who refuse to fight, enforced 'order', any who would threaten his allies, any who endanger their own allies, and those who think they're strong simply by denying others' ability to fight.
Dreams/Goals: To become CHAOS (impossible), or to find a glorious end (also impossible)
Abilities
Skills: Expert in use of several types of weapons, though preferring larger bladed weapons. Shockingly strong.
Earthquake: A powerful strike to the ground after changing to it's axe form, breaking it apart under him but causing a small eruption of spikes outwards from the impact point.
Tsunami: Extending the blade out into it's whip-like form, he slams the blade before him in rolling 'waves' of blade segments.
Blaze: Shooting the blade out into its segments to bounce off surfaces and into/pass targets repeatedly, and again when retracted, less effective in more open spaces.
Cyclone: Splitting his blade into it's two smaller sword forms and rapidly spinning them in his hands as well as around him, as if creating a wind wall of swords around him
Magic: While not a spell he can cast, there is a magic, due to the paradox that created him, infused into his very being... Garland cannot truly die in combat. Friends/Allies:
Kuja: The 'Envoy of Death' as they call themselves is another being with deep ties to CHAOS, as such in the strictest of terms they are allies. They have worked together before but they do not spend much time getting to 'know' each other.
CHAOS: Garland's beginning and end. A being that created him, and created by him. There is no escaping him, and so he answers to him. He respects him, and pities him.
Jack: This, strange, vision of another time, another place. This man is alien to him, and yet he is certain who he is.
Rivals/Enemies:
CHAOS: Garland's beginning and end. The god like figure that he could achieve to be, a reminder of how small and diminished he is. They are forever chained together, inescapable.
Jack: Garland is certain who this stranger is, and as such he must be struck down, just as any other.
Faction Link(s): Garland answers to CHAOS, first and foremost. However, given their nature, what this leads to is Garland often just, left to wander the worlds, and sow chaos on them through violence. Challenging the strong, terrifying the weak. The sound of clashing blades ring out through the corridors of the ruins. The foundations quake as the two armored figures continued their relentless back and forth of battle. For what has felt like days, Garland as tirelessly swung his back and clashed with this, the latest wielder of the Sword of Swanstantine. The blade is said to bring out the wielder's ultimate potential, and Garland was not disappointed. He let out a cruel laugh. "Yes it was worth coming to this world for this alone! Tell me warrior, do you feel it too? The rush of excitement at this glorious combat?" The warrior did not reply, simply to push Garland back to get a moment to catch their breath. And a moment was all Garland would give them. He more flew than ran towards the warrior, blade changing into an axe, as he swung down. The ruins shook again, for the last time, as all went black around him.
Garland's vision snapped back into focus, laying on his back, at the feet of the god CHAOS. "Ah... I fell again." He warrior picked himself up again, and looked at the shattered realm he knew so well at this point. That battle lasted longer than others, but he could not even tell if he won in the end. He was caught up enough that he left his fury destroy what enjoyment he had in the fight. But, the task was done. The ruins collapsed, would mean what conflict the warrior hoped to end with the Sword of Swanstantine would continue on even longer. Who knew when the weapon would be found again at this point. He shouldered his blade and began to walk, barely even looking at the silent god behind him, the reason he was trapped like this, the reason he could rejoice in such conflict forever. He knew not where his wanderings will lead him next, what foe might satisfy his thirst next, but he knew he could not find it here. All he could find here was that empty feeling, looking at himself.
