Dragon (Maternal side)

Linked
Origin World:
Humanity's Haven
Age:

History:
In ancient legends, Dragons have always been revered as ancient, stoic and pragmatic defenders of both the Human and Supernatural communities of the world, with the forming of the Council of Dragons being its crowning achievement. The birth of a dragon is always dictated by one thing over all else, which is a being's internal energies, or 'Chi'. A being that is predestined to be a dragon has two of these; a Dragon Chi, and a Human Chi, with the former maintaining a dormant state until a person's prepubescence when it can be 'unlocked', though sometimes this Chi remains unlocked and causes a dragon's power to skip over once every generation. But one such dragon has always been the interest (and to some, the embarrassing bane) of all other dragon-kind; a young teen by the name of Jacob Luke Long, or to his friends and family, "Jake" Long.
Jake was born as all dragons are, with his Dragon Chi in a dormant state and leaving him locked in his human state. His time growing up was mostly spent feeling like there was something special he was made for, something that was just out of reach, and he did not know why. But eventually, and gradually, his purpose began to show itself as his Dragon Chi would slowly become more and more active. Sporadic fire-breathing when he had accidentally activated his fire-breathing glands, entering his first molting cycle at the age of ten, and then finally, on his thirteenth birthday, his first ever accidental transformation. Initially, Jake had been spooked and scared of this sudden development, but as the realization settled in... he found it quite badass! To be a dragon; a being of mythological power and status, to inherit all the powers that came with a dragon, and to use them as he saw fit! It was perfect! ... If not for one big caveat.
As a teenager, this came with the prospect of balancing out his school-life, and now his sudden and unwanted responsibility that had been shoved onto him, as he was quickly taken in by his grandfather, the former Chinese Dragon Lao Shi, to work at his electronics shop and to teach himself the responsibilities and discipline of being a dragon, a guardian of the supernatural community and protector of both realms. Jake did not like finding himself in this position, yet despite his loud protests and wanting to just 'be himself', he would soon come to realize that this WAS 'being himself' now, whether he wished for it or not. Soon, all of his wishes of wanting to be special and 'cool' suddenly had no appeal anymore, and he'd rather want to be a normal boy.
But alas, such is the lot in his life, and he now lives with having to balance his school and friend-life with his grandfather's lectures and handling of his responsibilities as the next American Dragon.
Appearance

Physical Appearance:
Jake Long is your average-looking young teen in terms of physical stature in his human form, other than his odd hair color of black with green highlights.
In his dragon form, Jake stands a little shy of twice his height as a human, with red and yellow scales covering his form. His black-and-green hair is retained in this form, but also extends down his back and tail in the form of green frills. He also gains a pair of great wings in this form.
Clothing/Armor:
His regular/casual wear consists of a red jacket with yellow patches, a white t-shirt, blue cargo shorts, and grey and blue shorts.
Weapon(s):
Jake does not normally wield any weapons by default, but he is known to not shy away from the idea of using improvised weaponry on the fly.
Misc.:
-- Jake is a rather skilled skateboarder, and has his own custom yellow skateboard with a red dragon design on the bottom.
Personality
General Personality:
At first glance, Jake will come off as your average cocky, flirtatious teenager that does not like to have chores to do, who will take shortcuts in performing said chores and duties, and who is stubborn and reckless. But in his defense, the responsibilities he's had heaped onto him ever since being declared the American Dragon can be overwhelming for his personal life at times, he is always quick to admit when he is the one at fault, and he is not cocky to the point of arrogance and/or outright vanity.
He also has nothing but deep loyalty and respect for the people closest in his life, such as his friends and family, even if he finds himself at odds with some of them, mostly being his little sister Haley and his grandfather Lao Shi. But he has shown time and again that he will go to any lengths to aid his sister if she is ever in need of help, and he has a lot of respect for Lao despite the arduous tasks and responsibilities he keeps giving him, as he ultimately realizes it's just his way of trying to teach and aid him. He is fervently loyal to his close friends Trixie and Spud, who are also immensely loyal to him, sometimes being the first ones to admit that one of Jake's plans might not be the best one.
Over-all, on the surface Jake might seem like your average teen who is far too superficial and cocky for his own good, but deep down he has nothing but genuine goodness in him, and he would gladly put his life on the line for those he truly cares for.

Dreams/Goals:
To become the true and respected American Dragon is what Jake ultimately desires above all else. He has figured that if he is stuck in this life, he might as well shoot for the stars and go BEYOND the expectations that his grandfather and the Council has of him. He will be the best Dragon out there, even if he has to die trying.
Abilities
Skills:
Jake has received a lot of training from his grandfather Lao Shi to become both adept at utilizing his dragon powers, but also in basic fighting and hand-to-hand combat. He is by no means an expert, but he is still a very skilled fighter who can hold his own ground, even in his human form. As a dragon, his skills are only amplified by his natural dragon heritage, such as increased strength, durability, reflexes and senses.
Speaking of which, all dragons have the innate ability to transform between their human and dragon forms (with Jake having 'charitably' given himself a battle cry/catchphrase for whenever he transforms, which is "Dragon Up!") at a near whim, which gives them access to all the innate abilities of a dragon. This transformation can be done either fully or partially, in cases where a dragon only needs to access a specific part of their anatomy and abilities, and don't want to draw too much attention to themselves.
The skills a dragon has includes the usual physical enhancements as mentioned previously, but it also allows them to access vital parts of their anatomy, such as wings, tails, claws, and their breath weapon. A dragon's breath can vary between multiple elements, such as fire, ice, lightning, and so on. Jake's breath is that of fire.

"Come ON Gramps, I'm gonna be late for the skate-parks grand re-opening!"
Despite the young teen's complaints, the elder man would just shake his head and dig through the immense bookshelf that was before Jake, almost seeming inattentive of his grandson's complaints. But Jake wanted to be ANYWHERE else but here right now, as he had hoped to run off and join up with Trixie and Spud for the local skate-park's re-opening after having shut down for maintenance for two weeks. But now, he was stuck here, apparently having to read 'important history' as his grandfather graciously put it.
"Jake! As much as I admire your dedication to your friends-- THIS-" and he pulls a book out that had to be at least as thick as a coffee mug was tall, and he'd blow dust and cobweb off of it. "Will be far more important for you as your dragon training progresses!" and he'd march up to Jake and slam the book down at the table in front of him, the teen actually jumping a bit from the impact of it. The cover of it simply read, "Lexicon Draconis". Was this... a literal DRAGON LEXICON?!
"You can't be serious gramps! It's gonna take me ages to read this one!" he once again complains, face-planting onto the book's cover. Loud guffawing could be heard nearby as a grey bulldog was chuckling off to the side, appparently enjoying the kid's anguish.
"Now now, Jake! Remember what I've said." Lao Shi clears his throat before he speaks; "To learn is to encounter one's own ignorance."
"Uuugh... another of those dumb 'proverbs'?! What does THAT even mean?!" Jake grumbles, to which the dog responds out of the blue;
"Means ya gotta be less reckless by learnin', kiddo! Sorry, but them's the rules!" he'd pipe up. Realization of what it meant hit Jake like a ton of bricks, and once more, his face would impact with the thick book.
"Gimme a frickin' break, man..."
