Susie's snout snorted out an irritated grunt. "Feh, too good to say anything to me, huh?" her barbs solely and obviously directed at Kris. Oh how the quiet ones always rubbed her the wrong way. Especially Kris. The human. What? Did they think they were BETTER than her? Oh, now that REALLY got her gears grinding! The back of the chair squealed as Susie exerted more of her legs strength upon it. Like she was fixing to rise up right out of it.
What snapped her out of her directed ire was Noelle speaking into the mic. Was she always this loud? Nah. That was the mic amplifying her voice. Girl was always pretty quiet but at least she had the decency to speak. Was pretty cool she was getting heard...kinda. She was flustering and getting help from that one nerd she didn't outright slam into a locker.
Then came the question. Suggestions on what the play should be about. Oh...oh Susie was READY for this! She had been amped up all day for this! Her answer rose in her chest proudly. Then she got a glimpse of Kris raising their hand. Oh HELL no! No you don't! Her eyes flashed with anger from beneath her hair. She cupped her hands to her maw and shouted out loudly before anyone else could say anything.
"PIRATE ADVENTURE!"
She boomed before smugly looking at the back of Kris' stupid head. Heh. Yeah. Take that! Her ideas were cool!

From how Noelle almost dropped her papers and her eyes widened, she must have missed that Susie was even there until she loudly proclaimed her idea. Still, the reindeer quickly pulled herself back together, clearing her throat and nodding.
"That's a wonderful idea; we've got Pirate Adventure from Susie," She said, giving Susie a slight smile. "Do we have other ideas to add?" She looked around at the crowd; a few ideas followed, none as loud as Susie's. The most recurring had to do with blood, action, making fun of Mazur, and magic. It did not seem like anyone wanted to get into the territory of challenging Susie's theme by voicing a suggestion that might contradict her idea.
"We need some nice music, something groovy." Was what Max said once it became his turn to speak. "The boys and I can do something to shake this room. I mean, we've done it before." He was referring to when he, PJ, and Bobby hijacked the end-of-school gathering with their Powerline stunt a few years ago.
"Oh yes, we're going to need music," Noelle agreed, her eyes wandering the hall until: "Yes, Kris? Did you have something to add?"

Even after Noelle had called on Kris, they kept their hand raised. With a proud smirk on their lips, they posed the idea of mayonnaise. Lots and lots of mayonnaise. It was the same idea Kris gave every year. To this day, no one quite understood the joke behind it. Clearly, Kris thought it was hilarious.
Kris didn't only have jokes, though. They turned to look at Susie, hand still raised. While their face was caught up in the bird's nest that people called their hair, the challenge in Kris' body language was unmistakable. Pirates were cool, Kris admitted to the audience... but what about space pirates?

Susie's eyes twitched from beneath her bushy auburn hair. Mayo? Again? What a weirdo. Every year. Mayo with Kris. Mayo this. Mayo that. What's so great about mayo, anyway? It's the condiment that they just would not shut up about. It reminded her of a time she had tried it but it had long since spoiled and gave her one bad stomachache. Heh. That was a fun day. Hurt like hell, too. But she wasn't eager to try it again.
Then Kris looked at her. Her nostrils flared. Was this punk challenging her? That look in their eyes made her skin crawl and it summoned a growl in her throat. If they were so much as suggesting another topic, oh they had ANOTHER thing coming!
"WE ARE DOING-" she paused mid-snarl and was caught off-guard. Space pirates? She imagined it. Briefly. Do aliens bleed? Would it be red? Or would it be like green or blue...or white? Like mayo. Mayo would make great alien blood now that she dwelt on it. Plus...lasers. She flashed a dangerous smirk then brought her arm forward to jostle Kris' head in a rough and tumble way to suggest she was...approving? It felt like an entire mitt told hold for the split-second she had her claws around their head. "Heh...not bad, nerd. Space Pirates does sound more fun...and destructive!" She reclined back with both arms back behind her head. Agreeing? With Kris? Did she eat some of that mayo again by accident? She was just in...a good mood? "Don't get used to it." she hissed.

Max narrowed his eyes slightly as he sensed the tension growing around Susie... which was nothing new. The difference was that he was more than ready to protect Kris if things went sideways; surely Dad would approve of him defending his friends? Thankfully, it did not seem like Susie was taking that much offence, and she even liked the idea of Space Pirates.
"Y-Yes, Space Pirates, that's a wonderful idea, Kris," said Noelle from the stage with an encouraging smile. "What- do you think, Mr Fowler?" She turned to look at the art teacher, listening intently from the sideline.
"I think all this sounds marvellous," he said. "I'd say a little chaos is just what this school needs. You've got my full support. I did promise to keep the headmaster away, and I intend to keep that promise, I assure you, Miss Holiday. Pirates in Space is a novel idea, and it has potential. It also gives you freedom to control the whole narrative."
Max listened to the teacher, glad that there was an adult who'd support their ideas in this place! Those had been few and far between, but Mr Fowler, while a little eccentric, did have the students' backs. "I love the Space Pirates idea, and Susie could be the villain." He suggested, trying to sound as innocent as possible. "and maybe we could blow something up?"
