Strive rose to his feet as the camera panned back to him. He looked sombre, not the usual Symbol of Peace he usually was. The screen zoomed in, capturing his emotions as he cleared his throat.
"You all know my face. The Number One Hero, and because of that, I feel it is my duty to inform Japan - no, the world, of a great loss."
Strive opened his eyes, staring deep into the camera. The studio held its breath, Japan was silent for a beat. What could this news be?
"Two days ago... the Dusk Hero, Nocturne - Yoo-doumaru Ryuujin - was cut down in the line of duty. I- I have the hard job of telling you that the previously top ten ranked Hero did not survive. He... he laid down his life for his job as a Pro-Hero."
Strive paused, looking into the middle distance. It seemed like the Pillar of Justice was genuinely upset. His eyes shone with the faintest hint of tears, and he took a while to maintain composure.
"Nocturne never wanted fame. He never chased popularity, or tried to be a popular Hero. He lived seperate from other Pro-Heroes, treading the line that many of us fear to go. Someone has to, and Nocturne filled that role without wanting recognition, or glory. We truly lost a great Hero on this day."
Then Strive raised a fist, clenching it tight.
"But hear me when I say, we will not falter in our mission! My long-term teammate Speed is stepping down, and we have lost a powerful friend and ally. But I won't stop striving for peace and justice! My mind... Will not be distracted any longer. Villains! Hear me when I say... I will Strive to see you all behind bars! I won't rest until Japan and the world are free from violence and crime!"
Strive closed his eyes, exhaling on camera.
"No pro-hero will forget the long-standing Nocturne. Even in his final moments, he stood for what was right, even if it didn't seem like it. He showed me what it meant to be a real hero. No half-measured. No ignoring your principals for personal gain. No, Nocturne was one of the best, and I will strive to be half the man he was! If I can do that, then I will be twice the man I already am!"
