Historia
Gael had a rough upbringing. His parents had him as teenagers and tried their best to care for him. However, with his mother having to drop out to care for him and his father not being able to get a good position until he had a college degree, money was always pretty tight. Still, his parents were actually in love and tried their best to make their family work. It was full of hardship but also full of love. School wasn’t any easier, in fact it was a lot harder. Kids are mean and will poke at anything they can find to bring others down. Bing “the poor kid with teen parents” didn’t exactly do him any favors.
With everything seemingly against him and his family, books were his escape. He was never a strong reader, and even to this day prefers novels more geared to older kids and teens, but loved it all the same. Cartoons, TV, and anime were also good distractions, but a good book always was his favorite. He was (and is) picky with his reads, but when he found one he liked he dove in head first and wouldn’t leave. In fact, it was a book that saved his life.
When Gael was sixteen, the bullying became too much to bear. His family was the poorest they had ever been and were living in a shelter. Everything was just… too much, and he was ready to give up. He had been writing in his journal planning the best way to do it and what to tell his parents for a few days when he found the first book of Percy Jackson in one of the donation boxes for the shelter. The summary sounded interesting, so he started reading and didn’t stop. He finished the first book in a day and the next day went straight to the library after school to find the rest. It was an obsession, but he was never happier than when his face was in a Percy Jackson book. Most importantly, there was no way he could die before finishing every single book. And since the books were still coming out at the time, he had to wait for the books to be released. It gave him a reason to keep living. Sure, a book series being his reason to live was… questionable… but it was a reason, nonetheless.
It was around six months after his dive into the world of Half-Bloods when Gael first awoke as a visitor in the Library and had his world fully rocked. At first, he was fairly certain it was just a strange and vivid dream, but when he showed up there five nights in a row that feeling slowly faded. And if his parents were worried about him before when he was refusing to do anything but read, switching to sleeping did not help.
After a year they confronted him about it, and he assured them he had never been better. From there, he realized he had to focus on the real world too, at least for their sake. So he tried to put his focus on school and family just as much as his fantasy life, even if it was hard. He set a goal for a job that could both bring in a lot of money and help kids like him who needed it. Doctor seemed like the obvious choice. He also needed to find something in real life that he could enjoy and keep him focused, so he started testing other hobbies and found joy in dancing and music. Come nineteen, he received the offer to become a Guardian from none other than Percy himself, and how could he refuse THAT!? So, he told his parents a little white lie that his scholarship included housing and moved into the Library.
Ever the over-achiever, Gael is now a full-fledged Guardian of a decade AND a medical student. On top of that, he also leaves the Library once a week for dance classes and voice lessons. He has found a new love for life and joy in keeping busy. He has friends in the Denizens, Eternals, and other Guardians. He has an exciting life fighting the Fractured and a way to express himself with dance and song. And it all was possible because of one donated book.
Appearance

General Appearance
Gael has dark brown, almost black hair and green/hazel eyes. He has a tattoo between his shoulder blades of the sun with a bow and arrow in front of it that says “Apollo, cabin 7” around it. He is a bit baby-faced and short (around 5”9), but his dancer physique more than makes up for it. His skin is a bit tan, and he has a scar on his left arm from when one of the bullies at school was trying to scare him with a box cutter and accidentally actually sliced him down and across his upper arm.
Guardian Weapons & Equipment
Automatic Crossbow: A crossbow that spawns an arrow automatically to load it when the string is pulled back into firing position
Iris Messaging Crystal: A crystal that creates a rainbow and calls the person named via Iris Messaging like the Percy Jackson series (no drachma required)
Mini Map Goggles: Steampunk-style goggles that show a mini-map of whatever Genre Gael is currently in with color-coded dots to represent enemies, allies, and neutrals.
Personality
Gael, after worrying his parents to death for a while, developed the habit of masking any problems with a laugh and a joke. He isn’t as depressed as he used to be by any means, but he certainly isn’t free of stress and sadness. He also feels the need to constantly be doing something, hence the online med-school, dance classes, voice lessons, AND Guardian work. However, despite being so busy, he still finds time for fun and socializing with other Guardians and Denizens. He also visits his parents once a month. Despite being so busy, he manages to keep up with all of it in ways that seem they should be impossible. Over achieverworkaholic is an understatement for him.
Relationships
Friends/Allies
Outside of the Library: Parents (Christopher and Melanie Walker)
Inside the Library: Gael tends to hang around with the Percy Jackson crew and has a good relationship with most of the protagonists there. He finds Sherlock Holmes to be a fascinating man, despite never actually reading his books. If he happens to spot the detective wandering around he will often just start following him around in an attempt to learn something from him. He also tries to be on good terms with most of the Guardians and Eternals, though keeping track of all of them seems impossible.
Enemies/Rivals
Gael is easily scared of most things that are traditionally horror. Ghosts and zombies are the worst… and of the three Fs, he is certainly a FIGHT. So… there’s that.
Skills
Dance: Gael has been taking dance classes for some time with a focus on break dancing and hip-hop
Singing: Similarly, the vocal lessons Gael has been taking have also been paying off nicely. He sings/listens to pop/punk mostly, but likes a large variety of music
First Aid/Medical Care: Gael is in his ninth year of medical school. While not a professional yet, he is nearly an expert in medical care.
