Atsuro sat at his work table sketching his most recent character design. He had a couple figures in his work oven that were a surprise for his guest when he arrived, as well as some cookies from a package in the kitchen oven.
It had been a few months since the disaster that was their first date. The artist still couldn't help but blame himself for all of it. Flynn still looked awful and hasn't shown his face since except on rare occasion. He could tell Shizo was still shaken from it, and seeing him depressed, suicidal, and unresponsive for weeks after probably didn't help. The fact be stayed with him in the hospital was comforting though, he probably would have needed to stay a lot longer if he hadn't.
It was hard to believe it was finally over. His dad was captured and would never be able to come after him ever again. After years of looking over his shoulder, the new freedom didn't feel real. Any time he had a nightmare he woke up fearing that it was reality and tall this was just some wishful hallucination. He hadn't voiced this to anyone though. Not yet. He'd worried his friends enough for a while... Even if Tanzo was a wall both literally and figuratively.
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a small creature whining to let him know the cookies were done. With a smile that was still slightly forced, Atsuro got up from the table and made his way to the kitchen. "Perfect," he noted to Tomo as he pulled then from the oven. "Just in time. He should be here any minute."
After setting the cookies on the counter to cool and turning the oven off, he went and checked himself in the bathroom mirror, turning to Tomo who climbed his way to be next to the sink. "How we looking? Is the apartment clean enough? Maybe I should make dinner instead of ordering in." The small creature growled a warning to make him stop his worrying. "After last time I HAVE to make it up to him." He sighed. "This has to be perfect!"

Shizo was nervous about this visit himself, he had to admit after last date he'd been on edge. The trauma of being attacked by a villain so suddenly combined with being forced to use his quirk as much as he did made that night a real nasty memory. But he'd calmed down since then, at least enough to give things another shot... and this time they wouldn't be in public, just a quiet dinner in a safe place, Tanzo knew where they'd be and had instructions to check on them periodically via text or call just to be absolutely sure, he could come running if things really did go wrong... but really that was just a formality... Atsuro's dad was in prison, and after what Tanzo did to the man, even if he broke out he wasn't going to be much of a threat anymore.
So tonight, he was going to relax damnit. No parental interference from either of their families, just a nice, quiet evening. Dinner, a movie or something, and conversation. Nothing to worry about.
"Alright, here goes nothing" Shizo said to himself, then walked up to the door, and knocked.

Atsuro jumped at the soft rapping on his door. He was here! Oh god! Okay!
He checked himself out one last time. He had on a slightly form fitted, red V neck with a black, zip-up, hooded vest over it. His foster dad had given him his dog-tags a few days ago, his way of telling Atsuro his war was finally over. The artist hadn't taken them off since. He then realized he forgot to change his pants and was still wearing his art jeans, slightly tight and covered in stains from colored clay. Too late now. He'd have to roll with it.
Aftering sending Tomo to keep an eye on the piece in the clay oven he slid on his socks. To the door and swung it open in an obviously nervous fashion. "Hey! Come in in!" He near ordered, pulling him in and showing him around. It was smallish, but nice and quaint, and big enough to stuff everything he wanted into it.
The first floor seemed to be an open plan kitchen/living room area. Wooden floors with a larger antique looking rug marking where the living area was to the right. Black velvet couch and matching love seat. Flat screen TV that was large enough, even without being massive, hooked up to a Zelda themed Nintendo Switch. TV that doubled as a shelf for his video game collection. A small coffee table in the middle of everything.
To the left was his work station. A large desk covered in stains and dry clay with bins under it full of clay waiting to be used and organized by color. Next to the next was a second oven that seemed to have something currently baking in it ad Tomo sat on the desk watching the timer like a hawk.
Next to the living area was a closed door and across from that by the work station was the door to the bathroom, left slightly ajar from his rush to open the door. Behind the work station. Was a counter that separated into the kitchen/dining area. There wasn't a dining table, but stools at the counter to eat at. Other than that, it was a pretty standard kitchen despite being small.
A small stair case lead up to a loft area. They whole thing could be seen from the bottom floor, only wooden railings separating it from the rest of the apartment instead of a full wall. It was clearly Atsuro's bedroom area with a bed, posters and art all iver the walls, a keyboard in the left corner by the railing. Small TV, and shelves full of figurines. He had made a few of them, but most were actually anime figures still in the box.
"Lets enjoy our first date!" He declared with an anxious sigh. "The other one didn't count. So... Movie? Video games? Or we can just vibe and chat. Fully up to you. You're the guest! Oh... I guess I have to stop rambling to give you a chance to answer. Sorry."
Tomo looked over at them long enough to smack his forehead and roll his eyes before going back to watching the timer. Movement could be heard behind the door next to the living room, but the man and his summon paid it no mind. Shizo could assume it was another summon or two scurrying about.

Shizo smiled awkwardly as Atsuro opened the door, he was doing a much better job of keeping it together but he was just as nervous. He ALREADY didn't know how to handle a date, and after how the last one had gone he really didn't know how to carry himself here, so he was absolutely faking it until he hopefully made it. He didn't even notice Atsuro's clay covered pants as he awkwardly accepted the invitation inside and looked around the quaint apartment. It was definitely nicer than his dorm room, it felt a lot more lived in than the rather sparse furnishing he had.
As Atsuro rambled about potential activities without giving a chance to respond at first Shizo panicked internally. Shit what did people do on first dates? Well, second dates. Come to think of it most first-ish dates weren't in apartments. Damnit he should planned ahead? Oh crap and Atsuro noticed he was rambling and had stopped he had to answer now crapcrapcrap
"I uhhhh... I guess... video games? I haven't gotten to play many of those before what with my family being how they are... could be fun" Shizo said, clearly unsure and now much less held together now. It seemed they were both nervous wrecks here.

The artist perked like a puppy being offered a treat. "Sure! Over here!" He excitedly grabbed his date's hand and lead him over to the living area and gestured for him to take a seat on the couch while he knelt in front of the TV stand and browsed his collection. "What kind of game do you think you'd like? Fighting? RPG? Co-Op? Oh! Want something totally chaotic?" Atsuro chuckled pulling out a game blue game case with a what seemed to be an angry mob chasing a goose on it. "Or... Maybe a classic would be better... Captain Toad?"
"An! Wan wan!" Tomo called from across the room with a pout.
"You're right. I'm over thinking." And that point the timer for the clay oven went off and Atsuro perked up again before smiling to Shizo. "Hey, you come look at my collection and pick one out. You're the guest. I've gotta take that out of the oven. I'll grab the cookies from the kitchen while I'm up too."
Getting up and rushing to the oven, he peeked in to make sure everything looked good. Then he checked to ensure Shizo was thoroughly distracted and not looking before carefully taking the piece out and turning the oven off. He brought the piece into the kitchen and found a place out of sight for it to cool, grabbing the plate of cookies from the counter on his way back over to the living area.
The noises in the room next to the living area also persisted. It sounded like furniture being moved around. Seemed like Atsuro was having the little ones do some redecorating? At the very least the host wasn't paying it any mind, so it was probably nothing.
