None of this felt right.
The mission: Capture Solomon Grundy. Simple enough, right? However, the mission already wasn't as straightforward as it should be. First of all, Amanda Waller had assigned Elijah alone to the task, instead of a team, unusual for Task Force X. Second, there was barely any intel on Solomon Grundy, or what the man might be after in Gotham. Intel about a recent warehouse incident with Grundy didn't give Elijah much to go on, other than Grundy was most likely still in the city.
Naturally, Elijah had questions: "Why can't the New Jersey Protectorate arrest Grundy instead? What about the Gotham Knights' potential interference? Why do we want to detain him?" Waller told Elijah not to be concerned.
If any new information came in, or if anything concerning the mission had changed, Belle Reve would communicate that to Elijah through his earbud, but they had been silent for several hours. For now, Elijah simply sat in a booth at a diner, sipping coffee and enjoying a sandwich, looking out the window at the traffic. Regardless of the strangeness of this mission, Elijah would still be finally free from prison if he successfully completed this one, and was still out of prison right now for the brief stretch of time he was hunting Grundy. He let those thoughts soothe his anxiety as he ate.

Grundy was walking around the city, or stomping would be a better description. He had heard that a local museum were to exhibit a diamond the size of an ostrich egg. Grundy's zombiefied mind found the word ostrich quite hard to pronounce, but big diamond, so Grundy like.Gazing at the various boutiques and stores, Grundy finally saw the place that said "Gotham Museum". Needless to say, a 7-foot zombie shambling along causes a whole lot of attention, and several civilians were seeking cover, running away and calling the police. Grundy didn't mind or care however, he was only focused on going into the museum to find big diamond.
As he approached the doors he realized he was too big to fit so naturally he did the obvious thing and lifted his meaty fists. With a single punch, he knocked the door off its hinges and destroyed part of the wall, before heading inside. This caused a full-blown panic in the streets of Gotham, and somewhere in the back of his zombiefied brain, he knew it wouldn't be long before someone arrived to annoy Grundy.

Elijah was chewing thoughtfully as he saw the shambling hulk down the street, the man furrowing his brow and blinking as he watched the zombie just make his way down the sidewalk, seemingly without any concern about the panic he was causing around him. Elijah wasn't sure if he should count himself lucky that Grundy conveniently showed up as he was thinking of him, but Elijah was certain it was him. The 7 foot zombie was the only thing that fit the description and the images from the warehouse video.
"Spotted Grundy. Moving to engage," said Elijah into his earpiece.
After watching Grundy punch one of the doors in, the urgency of the situation set in for Elijah, and the man put several bills on his table before heading outside. Once outside, he grabbed a nearby light post, electricity suddenly crackling as it raced up the pole, flowing directly into Elijah as he charged himself, the lights in the buildings immediately around him starting to flicker. Grundy looked monstrously strong, stronger than Elijah, so he needed his full charge for this engagement.
It took Elijah several moments, but once fully charged, he ran down the sidewalk to the museum, immediately heading inside and running in front of Grundy, waving his arms and shouting at him. "'Ey, big man! I'mma need you to stop!"

Amanda hadn't had Fox Trot on the Grundy mission, originally but when approached to give back up to Yankee well, she wasn't in a place to exactly turn her down. Whether or not she actually a chip in place within her brain was up for questioning but she valued her life a little too much to take the risk of it being true.
Aside the fact that she got to have the bitter-sweet taste of fresh air in her lungs. It didn't matter why she was out there for the most part but. She was out, she was free to move in the brisk new Jersey air. It was all to good to be true but...
She knew, it wasn't her first mission after all. She had a task to do, or risk...
She quickly moved her mind from that thought as she spoke through the communication device she was given
"that's good darlin, back up is on the way"
She nearly sung with a voice seemingly laced with the sweetest honey. There was only one this could be, though she didn't identify herself as such.
She strolled through the streets to the coordinates of her teammate, scaling buildings with the aid of seismic jumps caring just enough of the collateral damage that she was creating in the process. If no one was harmed then that's all that matters. She was fulfilling the mission given to her.
Soon enough, her "teammate" was in her line of sight
"I'm closing in on ya sugar"[

Grundy was shuffling along into the museum when some odd guy ran infront of him and told him to stop. Grundy did indeed stop, being utterly confused. "Grundy not stop", he said. "Grundy here for big diamond". His voice was dark, guttural and raspy, almost a stereotype of how one would imagine a zombie would say 'braaaains'. Grundy looked down at the little man infront of him, his head cocked to the side almost like a curious dog. "Is little man also here for diamond? It's Grundy's!", he roared, pointing to himself. It was a clear indication to back the hell off. Dumb, dangerous and quick to anger, it was clear Grundy was moments from resorting to violence.

Elijah was taken aback by Grundy's voice, the sound already giving him a sense of dread. Grundy didn't just look half-dead; he sounded like it, too. Elijah was starting to piece together why Waller might want the Squad to detain Grundy, feeling more exasperated that Waller had initially sent him alone. But then he heard a familiar voice, glancing towards his earpiece even though he couldn't see it."Fox Trot? Thank God..."
As Elijah listened, it was clear that the short conversation with Grundy had already taken a turn for the worse, but Elijah had an idea. They only had to detain him, not necessarily fight him, right? The idea was a long shot, but his survival may very well depend on it.
"The diamond?" Elijah looked over his shoulder at the massive, ostrich egg-sized gem, letting out a low whistle. "Um, okay. I give Grundy diamond if Grundy comes with me somewhere," said Elijah calmly but firmly, making eye contact with the hulking zombie. He took a step back, his hand extended and palm pointing outward, at Grundy's chest, electricity crackling and arcing between his fingertips. Elijah was ready to fire a lightning bolt, just in case.

With grace and poise, the salsa-dancing looking super landed a few feet from Yankee but the landing itself was far graceful, as tremors could be felt by both males present. Tremors that could easily put a giant off balance.
"Hey there sweet thangs, there room I'm this party for one more?"
She mused giving the zombified looking fellow a wink
"seems to me that there be a disagreement goin' on. I would be happy to help resolve it... By any means necessary."
She stated, flirting with the opposition though leaving a little challenging undertone beneath her words

Grundy watched the strange man in even more confusion. If one was to explain Grundy's thought process, imagine there was a hamster on a wheel in his head, trying to spin the wheel for all it was worth, but it was fat and lazy so Grundy connected the dots very slowly. "Grundy not understand. Diamond right there. Grundy just take diamond and leave". Surprisingly intelligent even for him, it seems the metaphorical hamster had some life left in it. Just as Grundy was gonna make his next move, the tremors caused by some weird woman made him stumble a bit. It was annoying. He wanted shiny diamond, these people were in the way of shiny diamond. Grundy was clear on what was going on. "Grundy want diamond, strange man say Grundy can have diamond if he follows, and pretty lady made Grundy lose footing..". The hamster was running at full speed now, and at last, Grundy understood! "YOU ARE TRYING TO TAKE DIAMOND BEFORE GRUNDY!". Angered, Grundy roared as he grabbed a display case that was right next to him and tossed it towards the two irritating people! "Diamond belong to Grundy!"

If Fox Trot's tremors could throw Grundy off balance, Elijah didn't have much chance in staying upright. Elijah lost his balance and his footing, stumbling over to the floor, losing his aim on Grundy. It was clear Elijah would have to get used to Fox Trot's abilities to be effective.
As Grundy replied, Elijah felt like he could almost see the thoughts slowly tumble over in Grundy's head. He frowned as Grundy connected the dots, cursing under his breath when Grundy roared his accusation at them. Elijah didn't care about some diamond, but Grundy was right that they wanted to stop him.
Elijah got back onto his feet, intending to fire a lightning bolt, but already having a display case thrown at him! "Oh, fu-" Reacting and not thinking, he raised his arms in a cross block over his chest instead of trying to dodge, the case smashing directly into Elijah and sending him flying backwards into another display case, sandwiching him between two. He was glad to have charged fully before this encounter; if he hadn't, he might've already been dead by now.
His entire torso swam in pain, and pain raced up and down his battered arms and spine. Groaning aloud, Elijah pulled himself up from between the two cases and pointed his hand out at Grundy, firing a lightning bolt at him with a deafening crack of thunder!
