Sun Nao remained with Jun just in case. He was not intruding on her personal space, but he was there in case she should faint. At least the water seemed to help, however minor, which made him feel slightly more relaxed. "I can imagine it must be difficult," he said softly. "Spirits are never easy; it can be challenging to know their true nature. But, those that become their hosts, it's not your fault when things go wrong; there is danger in these things, and at the end of the day, it's their choice to risk losing themselves." He paused, "I would never risk losing myself like that, my body is my own, and I refuse to share it, whatever the reward."He grinned slightly. "I've been fighting spirits before, and I might not have tried to lift a ship, but that doesn't mean I could not if I wanted. I don't habitually go around lifting random things to find out if I can. But the only way to grow stronger is to push my limit." He did not mention how dangerous he could potentially be if he were bonded with such a spirit, and it was best not to linger on such things; no, he wanted to earn his strength and grow from training. "If I do something stupid, I can only blame myself for it." He laughed slightly, "Doctor Strange keeps scolding me for slamming the doors too hard at the Sanctum. Oh, I know what you need!" The boy beamed as he raised a hand, making a circular motion as a tiny swirling portal appeared in the air... once it had formed, Sun Nao reached inside and pulled out a tiny monkey, "This is a pygmy marmoset; she's one of the monkeys I care for." Sun Nao explained as he handed the tiny animal to Jun. "Poachers captured her, and I kicked their asses and freed the monkeys; go on, she's very friendly."

After seeing such a reaction from Jun, of course Bai listened attentively to the reason behind it. Part of her work involved responding to magical emergencies. It reminded him of when the sorcerers of the Sanctums came together during magical catastrophes. When Bai's gaze found hers, his eyes locked, not daring to look away, any humor and mirth draining away from his features, replaced by solemnity.
"I understand," said Bai firmly, solemnly. "Truly. I promise you that I'm in control, and I'm deeply aware of the balance I maintain in my body. If I hadn't established control over the others, I wouldn't be here at the Sanctum." Because he'd be barred from entry, or dead, but Bai didn't see any need to explain that part. Jun was right in wondering how Bai was still in one piece; Bai still remembered the extensive injuries he'd received, and devastation on the landscape he and the twelve zodiac spirits had inflicted during his month-long battle for control. Fortunately, the last spirit's resting place was hidden away in isolated wilderness, far away from any buildings and civilians while Bai was not in control.
Bai nodded along as Sun Nao went over the risks and his perspective of spirit-binding to oneself. They were risks and views he was familiar with, having read of them alongside the rituals that enabled this kind of magic. Bai had over a year to himself when he was searching for and binding the spirits to think over all of this, but in the end, he decided that all the work and the incredible danger was worth it if he could achieve something no other sorcerer had not.
He looked up at the bright full moon for a moment. "I know I've done something pretty crazy, and like Sun Nao said, I only have myself to blame. Now all I can do is live with the consequences, and use these powers as best as I can." After musing on it for a second, he'd continue, "My parents always wanted me to be a great sorcerer, so when I realized what I was capable of with the rituals and spells I discovered, I leapt at the opportunity."
Bai watched curiously as Sun Nao conjured a portal and pulled out a small monkey, a small smile returning to his face. He leaned in a bit to get a closer look. "Aww, that's really cute."

- ”I understand, truly. I promise you that I’m in control, and I’m deeply aware of the balance I maintain in my body. If I hadn’t established control over the others, I wouldn’t be here at the Sanctum.” - Serious in demeanor, earnest in tone, her warning appeared to be taken with the gravity the subject demanded, giving Jun some much needed comfort. Only then did she realize just how tense her body had gotten, shoulders, chest, and face visibly relaxing as she nodded in acceptance to Bai’s response. She knew he’d almost certainly be dead if he wasn’t in control now, she just needed to hear that he understood just how important it was to keep that control and was taking the needed measures to protect those around him.
- ”I can imagine it must be difficult. Spirits are never easy; it can be challenging to know their true nature. But, those that become their hosts, it’s not your fault when things go wrong; there is danger in these things, and at the end of the day, it’s their choice to risk losing themselves. I would never risk losing myself like that, my body is my own, and I refuse to share it, whatever the reward. I’ve been fighting spirits before, and I might not have tried to lift a ship, but that doesn’t mean I could not if I wanted. I don't habitually go around lifting random things to find out if I can. But the only way to grow stronger is to push my limit. If I do something stupid, I can only blame myself for it.” -
Jun turned to listen as Sun Nao spoke, a trace of a somber smile forming upon her lips. She appreciated his efforts to try and take some of the weight she held from her shoulders, and he was not wrong, but it was only half of the issue. It was not her fault when something goes wrong, when others put themselves in danger, and they held the blame for the consequences of their own actions. But, those around them suffer the aftermath just the same, sometimes worse, and they deserve to be protected from it as much as possible. - ”Doctor Strange keeps scolding me for slamming the doors too hard at the Sanctum. Oh, I know what you need!” -
- ”I know I’ve done something pretty crazy, and like Sun Nao said, I only have myself to blame. Now all I can do is live with the consequences, and use these powers as best I can.” Jun was quite curious as to what Sun Nao had in mind, but it would have been rude not to look back to Bai as he spoke. - ”My parents always wanted me to be a great sorcerer, so when I realized what I was capable of with the rituals and spells I discovered, I leapt at the opportunity.” - A slight nod of acknowledgement, it was a common theme. How many times has youthful impetuousness held consequences far grander than one could imagine? He already made the leap, she just hoped he had the skill and took the time to minimize the harm done to others should he crash.
She noticed Bai’s attention had returned to Nao, and something drew a genuine smile from him. - ”This is a pygmy marmoset; she’s one of the monkeys I care for.” - Jun’s attention would turn back to Sun Nao just in time to be met face to face with a precious little creature, eliciting a soft gasp of delightful surprise. - ”Poachers captured her, and I kicked their asses and freed the monkeys; go on, she’s very friendly.” - ”ああ, あなたは美しい!”~ (Ā, anata wa utsukushī - Ohh, you are beautiful) Jun cooed affectionately, carefully setting her glass aside so that she could offer both hands cupped together to the miniature primate. - ”Aww, that’s really cute.” -
Jun was absolutely radiant as the small creature crawled into her hands, both figuratively with a cheerful smile and literally as her hands began to glow as if they were in midday sunlight. A comforting warmth she knew most creatures loved to bask in. ”Does she have a name?” She’d inquire of Sun Nao with a soft tone, so as to not disturb her new friend, while gently attempting to pet the monkey with her right thumb, holding her up for Bai to get close as well. She was not exactly sure why but most animals seemed to be oddly calm around her, even those that were anti-social or scared easily due to their small size. She could only guess it had something to do with her connection to a Goddess that presides over light and creation, as they were calm even when she wasn’t using her light.

" And if it is a bonus," Sun Nao said, "specific rules bind most higher powers; they cannot just run rampant. My father cannot just kick lose and level a city; it's not that he would, but he could not. I imagine the same goes for the spirits of the zodiac. The Jade Emperor would be very cross if they went against the laws of the heavenly court. His divine majesty gave them their position in the first place." He paused, scratching himself on the cheek with a claw. "Same with me, truthfully, especially around this part of the world. I cannot just do whatever I want, or there would be a lot of trouble, and I'm not as foolish as to think I could take on the heavenly army alone."
He smiled at Jun's exclamation upon seeing the monkey; that was the kind of reaction he wanted to see.
"Nope, she has nothing like a human name," he replied softly, watching as the little monkey examined her new surroundings, tiny searching Jun's thumb, head tilting slightly from one side to the other. Sun Nao made a soft series of monkey-like noises, and the little monkey looked at him before replying with a few chirping noises. "She can smell the fruits on the table," Sun Nao explained. "You can give her that banana if you wish; she likes to peel into it herself; it is good for them to work for the food." He sighed, smile slightly melancholic. "Most monkeys look at me with this... awe... I'm their prince, and they seek shelter with me if bad things happen. I strive to be worthy of that trust..."

The mention of the Jade Emperor made Bai wonder, like he had done some times before, what the Emperor thought or felt about these spirits bound to one place, let alone one person. Bai hadn't received any messages from the divine so far, but the lack of response from the heavenly realms had not gone unnoticed. Not only was he reminded that he was like a potential time bomb, now he was musing the potential of divine punishment. Bai couldn't help wonder how many other sorcerers grappled with these kinds of consequences daily, or rather, how few.
Bai craned his head in a bit to get a closer look at the monkey now in Jun's hands. "You spend your free time saving monkeys from poachers, so you choose to live as a guardian of nature," he said to Sun Nao respectfully. "And you're a student of the Sorcerer Supreme. It's not only monkeys, many humans would look upon you in awe. You're the first demigod I've met, but you've been wonderfully humble. It does foster a sense of trust."

- ”And if it is a bonus, specific rules bind most higher powers; they cannot just run rampant. My father cannot just kick loose and level a city; it’s not that he would, but he could not. I imagine the same goes for the spirits of the zodiac. The Jade Emperor would be very cross if they went against the laws of the heavenly court. His divine majesty gave them their position in the first place. Same with me, truthfully, especially around this part of the world. I cannot just do whatever I want, or there would be a lot of trouble, and I’m not as foolish to think I could take on the heavenly army alone.” -
This was true, there was some solace that could be taken in that, though even a single short bout of madness would still be quite devastating in a populated area. A thought just occurred to her, and Jun couldn’t help but wonder if Yudi was aware of the present circumstance. He had to be, right? And Bai was still in possession of the zodiac spirits, or in accord with rather. Perhaps there was good reason for a lack of interference? Some necessary allowance for even greater dangers ahead? Something to ponder at least.
—
- ”Nope, she has nothing like a human name.” - Jun watched in adoration as the small primate inspected her thumb with what seemed like impossibly small hands, and glanced in great curiosity between her and Sun Nao as the two seemed to be communicating naturally. Fascinating. - ”She can smell the fruits on the table. You can give her that banana if you wish; she likes to peel into it herself; it is good for them to work for the food.” - Jun nodded softly, gently shifting the marmoset into her right hand and spreading her fingers so that she could find purchase with her tail if she’d like.
- ”Most monkeys look at me with this... awe... I’m their prince, and they seek shelter with me if bad things happen. I strive to be worthy of that trust…” - ”That is very noble.” Jun would respond with respect, though her attention was focused primarily on ensuring her new friend felt secure as Jun reached for a banana on the table. She thought about using her light, but, as calming as it was, a piece of glowing floating fruit was still pretty startling. Instead she held the banana lengthwise in the palm of her hand, bringing it slowly alongside the small monkey for her to inspect and peel at as she pleased.
- ”You spend your free time saving monkeys from poachers, so you choose to live as a guardian of nature. And you’re a student of the Sorcerer Supreme. It’s not only monkeys, many humans would look upon you in awe. You’re the first demigod I’ve met, but you’ve been wonderfully humble. It does foster a sense of trust.” - ”Hai.” (Yes) Jun would softly agree with Bai’s words, too distracted by the monkey in her palm to realize she used Japanese instead of English. Though he was still quite young, and the realization of his powers was rather recent, Sun Nao seemed to be growing into his divine nature rather well. ”You said she was one of the ones you care for, yes?” Jun would softly inquire of Sun Nao after a few moments had passed, her tone quite curious as she would shift her gaze up to him. ”How many do you tend to? Do you keep them on your fathers’ mountain, or do you have your own sanctuary?”

Sun Nao listened to Bai and Jun. He was leaning slightly against the table with food. He'd never reflected on it being worthy of praise before; he just did it because he felt a kinship with the world's monkeys. They did not judge him or anyone else, at least most of the time. Was he humble? Was that the best word for it? Perhaps? He did not feel like boasting about his powers or achievements.
"I guess the right thing to say would be... thanks." He said with a sheepish smile. "Monkeys are amazing, and it annoys me when humans treat them as pets or something to gawk at when visiting the zoo. I know some places work to spread knowledge and prevent them from dying out, but still... should not have been a problem in the first place." He paused before accidentally getting into a heavy topic of his general dislike for humanity ever since his powers awakened. "I shall have to live up to that trust. I apologize in advance for my potential ability to act on impulses or whatever practical joke I might pull; it's difficult not to act on my father's blood when given a chance."
"So I did," Sun Nao nodded at Jun's words. "Well, I found this place in the New York Sanctum, a room going into a small demi-plane, not too dissimilar to my father's mountain. I tend to monkeys there before reintroducing them to their natural homes, jungles, forests, etc. I've not counted them, but a fair few different kinds of monkeys are living there at the moment. Some go to live on my father's mountain, and he is not so picky; he accepts all monkeys seeking a home there. Yet, in the end, most want to return to where they once lived."

Bai smiled when Sun Nao said he would live up to that trust. He felt sure that Sun Nao would. "You're good. I don't mind a practical joke once in a while either."
"So your room in the Sanctum Sanctorum is a monkey rehabilitation realm. Is there a hot spring? Does Doctor Strange charge you extra on rent?" joked Bai as he thought about it. "How much can an apartment in Manhattan cost? Can't be worse than Hong Kong, can it?" Bai quickly searched the question on his phone. "Oh, actually, it can be. Ha."
"You seem to live a heavenly existence even outside your father's mountain, Sun Nao. You can be surrounded by monkeys who look at you with awe any time you wish. You live in a storied building almost overflowing with ancient magic and artifacts. That Sanctum alone is enough for me to want to visit New York more often."
"So what's your training like these days?" Bai asked Sun Nao curiously. "The training you had on your father's mountain sounded harsh, but free instead of regimented. Do you train a lot in martial arts? A lot of daily spellwork? What kind of lessons does Doctor Strange teach?"

- ”I guess the right thing to say would be... thanks. Monkeys are amazing, and it annoys me when humans treat them as pets or something to gawk at when visiting the zoo. I know some places work to spread knowledge and prevent them from dying out, but still... should not have been a problem in the first place.” - While her attention was mostly on the small marmoset peeling at the weak spots of the banana in her hand, Jun listened to Sun Nao with a sympathetic ear. She didn’t have the awareness of the modern world to really know what he was talking about, but it did seem... detached? Some places far more than others.
- ”I shall have to live up to that trust. I apologize in advance for my potential ability to act on impulses or whatever practical joke I might pull; it’s difficult not to act on my father’s blood when given a chance.” - ”You’re good. I don’t mind a practical joke once in a while either.” - Jun smiled lightly, he was part divine, that difficulty going against his nature applied to him as well. Though, she was curious what kind of pranks a demi-god pulled. What kind of pranks did his father pull for that matter? She enjoyed some of the lighthearted stuff, it was common amongst friends, but she’d heard some people get quite aggressive and degrading with it.
- ”So I did. Well, I found this place in the New York Sanctum, a room going into a small demi-plane, not too dissimilar to my father’s mountain. I tend to monkeys there before reintroducing them to their natural homes, jungles, forests, etc. I’ve not counted them, but a fair few different kinds of monkeys are living there at the moment. Some go to live on my father’s mountain, and he is not so picky; he accepts all monkeys seeking a home there. Yet, in the end, most want to return to where they once lived.” -
Jun listened attentively as Sun Nao answered her, smiling warmly as he mentioned helping reintroduce them to their natural habitats and nodding in thanks with a happy “mm” as he finished. She wondered what species he had there, she’d only seen a few in her journeys and texts can’t do them the same justice as seeing them in person. Were there territorial issues? How big was this extra-dimensional room? What was the environment like? Were there a variety of habitats? She’d love to see it some time, though she doubted she’d get the opportunity.
- ”So your room in the Sanctum Sanctorum is a monkey rehabilitation realm. Is there a hot spring? Does Doctor Strange charge you extra on rent? How much can an apartment in Manhattan go for? Can’t be worse than Hong Kong, can it?” - Manhattan? A different name for the same city? Perhaps a district? Some of these cities were so large they felt like their own nation. It was so easy to get lost, she could only imagine how stressful it’d be for something like the marmoset in her hand. - ”Oh, actually, it can be. Ha.” - She cocked an eyebrow in Bai’s direction, was it that bad? The costs of the modern world were simply baffling to her.
- ”You seem to live a heavenly existence even outside your father’s mountain, Sun Nao. You can be surrounded by monkeys who look at you with awe any time you wish. You live in a storied building almost overflowing with ancient magic and artifacts. That Sanctum alone is enough for me to want to visit New York more often.” - A thought came to her. Bai mentioned the New York Sanctum a lot, but surely this Sanctum had its fair share of relics and a storied past? Perhaps she’d have time to ask about it later, she didn’t wish to interrupt.
- ”So what’s your training like these days? The training you had on your father’s mountain sounded harsh, but free instead of regimented. Do you train a lot in martial arts? A lot of daily spellwork? What kind of lessons does Doctor Strange teach?” - That was something Jun was eager to hear as well. What kind of lessons did the Sorcerer Supreme give a Demigod? To sit in on those sessions... It was a shame Sun Nao couldn’t show them safely. Their magic must be spectacularly powerful. Or was that just his divine powers he was speaking of? Perhaps honing his non-martial powers were the lessons?

"I don't pay rent, to be honest... not sure anyone in the sanctum pays rent. Do you pay rent here?" Sun Nao cocked an eyebrow as he looked at Bai. " And yes, there is a hot spring. Nothing is better after a hard workout than a nice soak to relax the body." He grinned as he said this. "I train a lot, every day, either with my father, alone or lately with Wonder Woman. I mostly use martial skills with them, but Dad's been on a lot about meditation and keeping myself calm when surprised... I was told to meditate, and then he kept... trying to trip me up by banging a giant gong in my ear, having the monkeys throw fruit at me, and pouring cold water over me. He claimed it was part of training, but I think he just wanted to mess with me. As for Strange, yeah, spells, theory of magic, secrets of the universe and things like that."
He frowned and took another mooncake at random, turning it over before eating it.
"You'd think my life would be heavenly..." he muttered with his mouth full. "Sure, Doc's cool, and I get to train with perhaps the strongest woman on the planet; monkeys love me, and Bàba, for all his faults, at least views me as competent." He paused before sighing. It was the first time in the conversation that he had referred to Wukong using the Chinese term. "Just wish Māma would see it; to her, I'm just--" he gestured. "Not capable of making my own choices, and I don't want to go to University; I'm tired of being the old me that only ever did what others expected him to do."
There was a pause, and then Sun Nao cleared his throat.
"Sorry. That was a little oversharing..."

Did Sun Nao say that he trained with Wonder Woman? Not just met her, but trains with her? Sun Nao's life sounded blessed indeed to Bai. Hearing him talk about his disagreements with his mother, however, made Sun Nao sound very down to earth. Parental disagreements were certainly relatable.
"No need to apologize. Sorry to hear that you're having disagreements with your mom. It sucks when differing views of your future cause strife."
Bai picked a fried dumpling from the table and popped it into his mouth, thinking about his own family and independence. "However, it sounds like you're already asserting your independence, making your own choices. You're almost an adult anyway. Eventually, your mother is going to have to get used to you making your own way through the world."
"You're still very young, so I'm guessing your mom is probably just feeling overprotective of you, but I bet she'll become more understanding of your decisions about your future as you grow older. I'm sure she just wants you to be safe and secure, even if she can't see right now that you're capable of keeping yourself secure on your own."
He popped another fried dumpling into his mouth, before mixing another drink and gesturing around to the Sanctum and the festivitues with his glass. "How much of this life does your mother see?" he asked curiously. "The divine realms, the superheroes, the magic; all of it? I'm sure she'd be more understanding if she saw the scale you already work at, and the teachers you have."

- ”I don’t pay rent, to be honest... not sure anyone in the sanctum pays rent. Do you pay rent here? And yes, there is a hot spring. Nothing is better after a hard workout than a nice soak to relax the body.” Oh? Were there any Nihonzaru? Jun wondered, shifting her hands a little so the marmoset had better footing to peel at the other end of the banana. They were the only monkeys they had at home and they certainly enjoyed the hot springs in the hills, particularly in winter.
- ”I train a lot, every day, either with my father, alone or lately with Wonder Woman. I mostly use martial skills with them, but Dad’s been on a lot about meditation and keeping myself calm when surprised... I was told to meditate, and then he kept... trying to trip me up by banging a giant gong in my ear, having the monkeys throw fruit at me, and pouring cold water over me. He Claimed it was part of training, but I think he just wanted to mess with me. As for strange, yeah, spells, theory of magic, secrets of the universe and things like that.” -
Probably both, Jun thought in regards to his father. If Sun Nao really was as strong as he said he was, control in times of surprise and stress was needed to minimize the damage he could do accidentally. It seemed fitting another demi-god would help tutor a young recently awakened demi-god, so Jun didn’t think much on Wonder Woman training him, she was more interested in what types of theories and universal secrets the Sorcerer Supreme was tutoring him in. Though, she wondered how skilled Wonder Woman was, her being the granddaughter of a God of War according to Sun Nao.
- ”You’d think my life would be heavenly... Sure, Doc’s cool, and I get to train with perhaps the strongest woman on the planet; monkeys love me, and Bàba, for all his faults, at least views me as competent. Just wish Māma would see it; to her, I’m just– not capable of making my own choices, and I don’t want to go to University; I’m tired of being the old me that only ever did what others expected him to do.” - Jun’s visage saddened slightly as Sun Nao spoke of his issues with his mother, wishing she could help but knowing it was neither her place nor in her knowledge to do so. It sounded like she may be afraid of losing him, particularly the mortal half of him that she raised, and is clinging to whatever hopes she had for him before his awakening.
- ”Sorry. That was a little oversharing…” - ”No need to apologize. Sorry to hear that you’re having disagreements with your mom. It sucks when differing views of your future cause strife.” - Jun nodded along slightly, a soft ‘hm’ escaping her lips as she did. Though her gaze was upon the marmoset, her mind was on home. Many were not as lucky as her, on quite a few accounts. She was grateful for not having the same disharmony with her parents.
- ”However, it sounds like you’re already asserting your independence, making your own choices. You’re almost an adult anyway. Eventually, your mother is going to have to get used to you making your own way through the world. You’re still very young, so I’m guessing your mom is probably just feeling overprotective of you, but I bet she’ll become more understanding of your decisions about your future as you grow older. I’m sure she just wants you to be safe and secure, even if she can’t see right now that you’re capable of keeping yourself secure on your own.” -
Hmm, perhaps that as well. Jun thought to herself. It was as good a theory as any, at least it sounded as much in her admittedly lacking experience on the matter. - ”How much of this life does your mother see? The divine realms, the superheroes, the magic; all of it? I’m sure she’d be more understanding if she saw the scale you already work at, and the teachers you have.” - Huh, that is a fair question. It hadn’t occurred to her that Sun Nao’s mother may not be entirely privy to the important events and details of his life. His grandmother seemed to be, so she just assumed his mother would be too.
Through all this there was something she was curious about, but she would wait until after Sun Nao answered Bai’s question about his mother’s awareness before asking anything, providing it felt appropriate. ”If you don’t mind me asking.” She’d start with an interested tone, though a little hushed so as to not disturb the marmoset. Her gaze shifting to Sun Nao to be clear she’s addressing him. ”How did you become the Sorcerer Supremes’ apprentice?” She’d finish her question with a curious tilt of the head. They’d heard all about what he learns and how he found out his powers, but how did he and Strange meet in the first place?

Sun Nao listened to Bai, and of course, he was right—he was not the first person to tell him that. "I guess," he said, voice slightly hesitant. "I'm not made of glass, and it just feels like I can't do anything right, and we get into these massive fights, and I'm so afraid I might accidentally hurt her..." He sighed deeply.
"Nothing, she knows nothing about... this," he gestured to the tail, "my powers, the divine realm, superhero stuff." There was a pause, and Sun Nao refilled his glass. "Yeah, that's what Wonder Woman said too, that I need to find time to tell her the truth, and she doesn't even know my Nai Nai is a witch, so that's an even bigger secret that is not mine to share. My mother is also a friend of Wonder Woman, which I did not know. My mother is a linguist, and it seems she has been working together with Diana a few times." Sun Nao looked between Jun and Bai, sipping at his drink. "Strange's also said he's going to come with me to talk with my mother, explain everything to her, so I got that to look forward to."
He looked to Jun again, smiling slightly.
"I don't mind," he replied, "I had a blowup right my mother over. I stormed off and ended up flying across the ocean and ending up in New York. I just happened upon his place and was sort of invited by the building. It let me inside, and that's where I met Doc, and one thing led to another, and here I am." He thought over what he had just said and nodded. "So I have my room there now, and I will help Wong with the place; he's the best. He's been teaching me a lot about cooking, and we made dumplings the other day." Sun Nao had grown close to Wong and looked up to him significantly, which was not hard to notice in how he spoke about him.

Bai nodded at Sun Nao's concerns about controlling his own power, a very understandable worry for someone still getting used to their strength. Hearing Sun Nao's doubts of himself reminded Bai of imposter syndrome; Sun Nao certainly seemed responsible and in control of himself. Handling monkeys often was probably good practice for precision control too.
Wonder Woman's advice sounded wise, as expected from one of the world's greatest heroes. In this case, certainly the truth would do more good than harm. There was so much to Sun Nao that simply couldn't be reversed or taken back now. Whether the people around him liked it or not, he was definitely no longer the boy they were used to. Bai definitely had no preconceptions of Sun Nao, unlike someone who had known Sun Nao before his transformation would; he was meeting and treating him like another young adult.
"Cooking's great," replied Bai with a smile. "I find it's kind of like a meditation in of itself, at least when the recipes allow you to take a bit of time, kind of like sitting down for a cup of tea." Speaking of dumplings prompted Bai to take another one, finding them to be his favorite for the night. Talking about food and watching Sun Nao eat certainly kept the appetite up. "Yeah, Wong's cool. Very grounded person. He probably has the most extensive knowledge of the Sanctums' libraries, great person for recommendations."

I’m not made of glass, and it just feels like I can’t do anything right, and we get into these massive fights, and I’m so afraid I might accidentally hurt her...” - A slight saddened sympathetic look grew across Jun’s face as Sun Nao spoke. By the sounds of it, it was good his father wanted to teach him to remain calm and controlled. Accidentally harming her own parents with her power was a dreadful thought, and he had far more power to control than she.
- ”Nothing, she knows nothing about... this, my powers, the divine realm, superhero stuff.” - Nothing at all? Surprise would creep across her face as she shot a concerned look at Sun Nao. How? Her mother was aware, but she did not tell her daughter? No wonder there was tension, her son was living a double life she knew nothing of and he wasn’t even an adult yet. - ”Yeah, that’s what Wonder Woman said too, that I need to find time to tell her the truth, and she doesn’t even know my Nai Nai is a witch, so that’s an even bigger secret that is not mine to share. My mother is also a friend of Wonder Woman, which I did not know. My mother is a linguist, and it seems she has been working together with Diana a few times.” -
Wait, his grandmother didn’t even tell her daughter that she was a witch? And somehow Wonder Woman knew his mother already? Diana must be Wonder Woman’s name. Jun grew visibly confused by the predicament Sun Nao described. The combination of the lack of communication and the happenstance of already knowing the demigod that was currently training her son seemed surreal. - ”Strange’s also said he’s going to come with me to talk with my mother, explain everything to her, so I got that to look forward to.” - That is probably for the best, she had a feeling Sun Nao would need some help treading those... complicated waters.
- ”I don’t mind. I had a blowup right my mother over. I stormed off and ended up flying across the ocean and ending up in New York. I just happened upon his place and was sort of invited by the building. It let me inside, and that’s where I met Doc, and one thing led to another, and here I am.” - Invited... by the building? Jun cocked her head curiously as Sun Nao answered her. Fascinating. - ”So I have my room there now, and I will help Wong with the place; he’s the best. He’s been teaching me a lot about cooking, and we made dumplings the other day.” -
Wong? Must be another sorcerer at the New York Sanctum, one Sun Nao admired a great deal if his tone was any indication. - ”Cooking’s great, I find it’s kind of like a meditation in of itself, at least when the recipes allow you to take a bit of time, kind of like sitting down for a cup of tea.” - Jun returned her gaze to the marmoset in her hands, who had finished eating and was simply observing the conversation going on around her. Cooking was indeed nice, though it had been a while since she had the chance to use a proper kitchen with a full range of ingredients.
Glancing at the array of party foods, part of her wondered if they were cooked elsewhere and teleported with magic or simply conjured. - ”Yeah, Wong’s cool. Very grounded person. He probably has the most extensive knowledge of the Sanctum’s libraries, great person for recommendations.” - Bai knew him too? Perhaps Wong traveled between the sanctums often, it would make sense if he was so versed in their combined archives. ”If you are allowed to share, how does one normally join a Sanctum? Apart from being born into it.” Jun would ask curiously, shifting her attention between both Bai and Sun Nao before nodding at Bai with her last sentence.
