"Gaze of Agamotto!" Above the Hong Kong skyline, trails of violet arcane energy traced the outline of a massive eye in the sky, gazing downwards at the city in the midst of festivities. The translucent eye blinked once, then dissipated into an ethereal mist among the clouds. Back down on the roof of the Hong Kong Sanctum, the same violet outline of an eye formed on Bai's forehead, the young sorcerer levitating cross-legged as he cast the spell. As he often did, Bai was using the Gaze of Agamotto as a divination spell to survey the city for emergencies or crimes. Once the eye had formed on his forehead, Bai floated back down onto his feet and went over to a nearby table with refreshments and snacks (notably mooncakes) laid out on it. Tonight was the annual Mooncake Festival, when the moon is believed to be at its brightest and fullest, and many sorcerers of the Hong Kong Sanctum were on the rooftop joining the festivities. Some were dancing and drinking. Some were smoking and playing cards. Bai, never one to turn down a reason to party, was happy to attend. He was also happy to provide fireworks for the general populace. "燧人之火!" he shouted, launching a ferocious column of flame upwards from his palm, the column swirling as it formed the 20 story image of an emperor made of flames. The towering flaming emperor made a sweeping gesture out over the skyline before dissipating, making way for other fireworks. Usually, spells coming from the Sanctum would've been shrouded and silenced to maintain the quiet existence of the place, but tonight was a welcome exception, for tonight any spells cast in celebration of the Mooncake Festival would be seen by anyone looking at the Sanctum's rooftop. Bobbing slightly to the beat of the music playing, Bai poured himself a drink from a bottle labeled "Elixir of Long Life" in ancient Chinese and took a swig, his gaze going over the open tomes on a table nearby. The Egyptian Book of the Dead. The Greater Key of Solomon. Maxim's Primer. Classics, in Bai's eyes. He had brought them out for some inspiration on what to cast for people to see tonight. "Lightning of Ikkthon!" Violet lightning crackled between Bai's hands until he pointed his palm upward, launching a series of arcane lightning bolts into the sky. They coiled around each other like snakes before colliding at a point above the skyscrapers, exploding in an enormous burst of sparks, leaving behind a mesmerizing image of the Kamar-Taj symbol in the night sky.

"Impressive, but a little on the nose?"
The voice belonged to a young Chinese teenager walking across the roof of the sanctum, getting a few nods from the gathered sorcerers who recognized him, both those who knew him as the apprentice of the sorcerer supreme and those who could sense his divine lineage. Or, he just generally liked him; he had spent much time in the Chinese sanctum, and it felt more at home, even if he was in New York a lot, too.
Sun Nao was dressed in a modern take on traditional Hanfu Attire, with a silk Paofu robe, a few accessories, a belt, jewellery, and a colourful paper fan hanging from a string. He might look like any party-dressed festivalgoer if not for the claws, fangs, and impressive monkey tail, which was decorated with jade. He snatched up a few mooncakes from the table as he passed it, eating one of them in a single bite. "I think our emperors have a swollen ego as is," he continued with a grin, not meaning it as an insult to the caster but as a bard to the celestial heavens.
Sun Nao curiously looked at the collection of books at the nearby table. "Book of the Dead?" He was curious how to use that for a festival like this.

Bai turned his head at the new voice, noticing some of his fellow sorcerers making way for a newcomer. His eyes widened in surprise, an amused smile breaking out on his lips. Out of all the potential visitors to this Sanctum, this one was one of the last Bai would've expected. He had seen Sun Nao going through the Hong Kong Sanctum before at other times, but had not yet formally met him until tonight. However, between Sun Nao's reputation, his appearance, and Bai's Gaze of Agamotto, it was clear to Bai who the teenager was: The Monkey Prince.
Bai gave a small half-bow, unsure about the formality but wanting to show his deference to the Monkey Prince and the realm he came from. "Yeah, the Egyptian Book of the Dead. This one's not for fireworks and spectacle tonight. I use it to commune with the spirits of ancestors, so we can ask them for guidance. I'm better at calling from the dead than I am at fortune-telling, so I thought I'd speak with the dead instead."
He spread his arms wide in welcome, smiling at Sun Nao, a drink in his hand. "Welcome to our festivities, your...Highness? It's an honor and privilege to have you join us. Hopefully, crime won't pull me away from the party tonight." Bai gestured to the bottles on the table. "Can I pour you a drink? Plum wine? Hennessey?" he offered with an amiable grin.

Sun Nao listened to Bai as the man talked, absentmindedly downing another mooncake.
"Yeah, that makes sense," he said with a sagely nod. "I'm not much into fortune-telling either. I like to make my own if I can, and I can't... I kick something, just like dad would do." The Monkey King did have a history of kicking things when he did not get his way; he had grown less likely to do so these days since his enlightenment into a Buddha, but... a kick now and then was never amiss.
"Uhm... thanks?" He was not used to being referred to as that, but it had happened more often than not while he was in this Sanctum. These sorcerers seemed to be able to glance at him and know his whole history, or that was the feeling he got. "Just Sun Nao is fine; not even the monkeys call me Highness." He took a moment to take in the offer. "You got any Osmanthus?" He liked the apricot and peachy flavour.
Sun Nao examined Bai briefly; he had seen the guy before but could not say they spoke. The last time he passed here, he did so in the company of Wong, so there was not much time for a conversation. "I don't think we talked before. You know who I am, but I don't think we've been introduced."

"Sun Nao," he repeated, nodding. A humble demigod. Bai liked him already. "Very nice to meet you, Sun Nao. I am Bai, unofficial hero of Hong Kong and another humble guardian of this Sanctum." Bai then took a bottle of Osmanthus wine and poured Sun Nao a glass, offering it to him. "Yeah, I've noticed you around before too, but I've never seen you train or study here. Are these visits for Master I-Ching?" he asked curiously, taking a sip from his own drink.
Bai had more questions for Sun Nao, but first and foremost, he simply wanted Sun Nao to enjoy the party, so he held back on the interview for now. It wasn't every day that a living demigod walked into your party. Instead, he settled for just one more question. "So what brings you to the world of mortals? The legends say the Flowers and Fruit Mountain where your father lives is a paradise. Not that any of us mind you being here, quite the opposite."

Above the warm glow of paper lanterns and the din of festivities, at the faintest reaches of live music below, a glimmer of white softer than the dimmest star hung in the night sky. Upon this glimmer sat a young woman, legs crossed one knee over the other, arms folded upon an ethereal ledge of faint light so she may watch the city below in comfort. She wore a simple blouse, long sleeve and pink as cherry blossoms, a pair of form fitting white canvas pants, and a pair of pink and white sneakers to match. A visitor, observing the beauty of the cityscape during festival from on high, careful to seat herself away from major parks and waterways to avoid too intimate a view of the fireworks that occasionally lit the sky.
It was her first time seeing the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, and Hong Kong did not disappoint. Perhaps she’d join... huh? A violet glow from above drew the girl’s attention, mystical energy tracing a massive shape in the clouds overhead, an eye? Did it just blink? Though it dissipated quickly into mist, confusion would linger. That was definitely not a firework, but, music still carried from below. Was this normal? Bright light from the east, a gout of swirling fire, building into the form of a man more than twice the height of most buildings below. He raised his arm, sweeping it across the skyline, then dissipated.
Also, not a firework. A display for the festivities? Was it magic? She had not seen a machine capable of such intricacy. Regardless, curiosity drew her like a moth towards the source of the flame, carried forth on ethereal light underfoot. Drifting low, skirting over dark rooftops, she was met with yet another display. Several bolts of lightning, violet like the eye, spiraling high into the sky before colliding in a shower of sparks. More? Something remained as the sparks faded, a symbol she was unfamiliar with. It was quite a sight. She was close, a block away by her estimate.
Not wanting to draw too much attention, knowingly at least, she set down atop a fairly tall building across from where she had seen the lightning rise from and slowly peered over the edge. A celebration on the rooftop below. Food, drink, dance, games, and festive garb. ”魔術師?” (Mahōtsukai - magic users) She mused to herself, before noticing something rather odd. A young man, in a variant of traditional robe engaged in conversation, he had... a tail? Yes, that was certainly a tail, like a monkeys no less. And, his hands, were they clawed? Fascinating.

"Nice to meet you, Bai," said Sun Nao, accepting the glass and sniffing it before taking a sip. It tasted nice, but he was sure it did not have the same kick for him as it would have before; still, nice was nice. "Well, mostly been here with Wong, but I spoke with Master I-Ching a few times; he did not think he could train me better than my father, so that idea quickly disappeared. I mostly study in the New York Sanctum, and I talked Strange into training me. Or maybe he talked me into it? It was all very confusing, but I try not to overthink." He smiled slightly before taking another sip of Osmanthus wine.
He stretched himself and yawned, revealing what could only be described as sharp fangs rather than teeth. It was getting difficult to hide them, and brushing them had become a nightmare. Still, it felt nice not having to hide himself with charms, at least in a place like this.
"I suppose it's alright," he let out a sigh, eating another Mooncake. "My Father is having guests, and I did not want to stick around when they decided to bring out the strong drinks. Besides, time over there is very wonky so parties can last for days upon days, and over here, it's just been a few minutes. I'm still there, just not... me". The clones could be very useful, but his father was so drunk he did not notice the difference, or if he did, he did not care. He drained the last of the glass and did not wait before taking the bottle from the table and pouring more into the glass. "He's bragging about me to some heavenly officials right now, like having me was part of some big plan, when in reality, he forgot about me until I ended up at his doorstep by accident."

Bai listened intently, fascinated by the demigod's perspective of another realm. How Sun Nao spoke about his father was particularly interesting, as though there were some distance to cause lukewarm feelings of his father's home. Bai sympathized, but couldn't imagine what could cause such a distance. "Parents can be...difficult. Well, we're honored you'd choose to spend your night with us than at your Father's party."
"So you're in the New York Sanctum nowadays? Very cool. I've never been. I've never met Doctor Strange before either, but I've heard stories. How is he like as a teacher? Is it true he has conversations with his cape?" he asked, gesturing to Sun Nao to simply take the whole bottle of wine. "Don't worry about it, we've got much more."
As they spoke, Bai had noticed, through the Gaze of Agamotto, something small, about the size of a person, drift swiftly and gracefully down through the night sky, heading towards the Sanctum like a snowdrift. It gave off a barely perceptible light, and would have been lost among the fireworks, if it were not for the mystic aura of the anomaly. Once the figure touched down on a nearby rooftop, Bai quietly murmured "玉兔的留言." An ethereal vapor formed around his feet, coalescing into the translucent image of a jade rabbit, before the rabbit suddenly raced off, launching itself off the Sanctum rooftop and running up the side of a nearby building. "We have more guests."
Once the rabbit reached the rooftop, it spotted the young woman on her perch and slowly approached. "Are you Chang'e or do you just share her beauty?" said the rabbit in Bai's voice with a shadow of a wink, speaking in English, saying his thoughts aloud. "Would you like a drink? Anyone from the magical community is welcome to attend our party."

Their uninvited lookie-lou couldn’t help but gawk a little, perhaps he was a descendant of Sun Wukong? She was familiar with the legend but did not know much beyond old texts of Chinese mythology. - ”Are you Chang’e or do you just share her beauty?” - A sharp gasp of surprise, muffled by her own hands as she jolted to attention. Her face flushed, she had been too taken up in observing the party to notice someone else on the roof, and too slow in peeking over the ledge to see her company head her way. She was caught, like a nosey neighbor peeking over the hedge, by a... rabbit?
Her facade of embarrassed surprise mixed with curiosity. A jade rabbit, spirit? Familiar? Speaking English, at least it sounded like English, was that a wink? - ”Would you like a drink? Anyone from the magical community is welcome to attend our party.” - ”I...” The woman paused, collecting her thoughts. Her face flushed a little more as the comment on her beauty finally registered. ”I apologize for snooping.” She continued, voice sincere, bowing towards the ephemeral hare with her arms at her sides. ”I would be honored to join you.” She’d finish, smiling warmly as she rose from her bow.
They were mages, as if that were in question with the rabbit before her. The first she’d met off island. With that, she’d step onto the ledge, then step off onto faint discs of white light that carried her softly down to the party below. A light that was oddly comforting to look at no less. She intended to follow the rabbit back to the source, though would carry herself down if it simply dissipated. Hands held together shyly in front of her waist, she would land just inside the ledge, then bow slightly as she introduced herself. ”My name is Jun, I hope I didn’t interrupt anything.” Her voice was warm, a soft smile upon her face as she rose.

Sun Nao smiled; he said nothing, but it had not been that hard of a choice.
"Doc's pretty cool," he said, accepting the offer to take the whole bottle; he was not going to say no to a complimentary drink and food. " And yeah, but it is a magical artefact; I think it has a mind of its own."
It took Sun Nao a little longer to notice what Bai saw, but in his case, it was mainly due to distance and an evident lack of hostility. He noticed Bai casting magic, watching the small jade rabbit that leapt into the air. At the mention of more guests, he did look up, and it did not take much effort for him to notice the woman. Sun Nao was curious and watched but could not hear the rabbit's and the woman's interaction. When she came down, he took it as a good sign, putting his mind to a graceful leaf on the wind.
"Nǐ hǎo," Sun Nao greeted with a respectful bow; there was something about her; he could see she was linked to a great power of some kind. So, it seemed proper to have a proper introduction. "Not more than I did, I imagine. Greetings, Jun, I'm Sun Nao, son of Sun Wukong."

"Hmm...kinda makes me wanna check out Strange's cloak later..."
Up on the rooftop, the rabbit gave a low respectful bow in return to Jun's. It neither dissipated or followed her back to the party, instead flying upwards high, high, high above the skyline after their short exchange of words, expanding in size until -BOOM!- erupting in a massive cloud of jade sparks, forming the lingering image of a rabbit. Due to how the cloud was positioned in the sky, to many people down below, the jade rabbit would appear juxtaposed over the full moon itself.
"And I'm Bai Si," replied Bai, also giving a respectful bow, flashing a bright smile. "You didn't interrupt anything at all. Actually, you two are free to join whatever we already have going on. Do you like dancing?" Bai asked the two of them as he started halfway bouncing to the beat again as a new song started to play, an easy grin on his face. Bai wasn't a professional dancer, but he still had a few moves up his sleeve. He could rock to the rhythm of the music, at the very least.
"Or maybe you prefer table games? We're playing for money tonight, but we're poor sorcerers, so you won't win very much," he joked before refilling his own drink and popping a fried dumpling into his mouth. "Mmm~"

- ”Nǐ hǎo. Not more than I did, I imagine. Greetings, Jun, I’m Sun Nao, son of Sun Wukong.” - The young man with simian attributes was the first to introduce himself with a respectful bow. Did he say son? Jun’s eyes lit up, she had the chance to talk to the child of a... POP. A noise above caught her attention. The rabbit that had flown off earlier didn’t simply disappear in the night sky, it was part of yet another beautiful display, having burst into the jade image of a rabbit with the moon as a backdrop.
- ”And I’m Bai Si,” - A familiar voice greeted her, as Sun Nao’s companion spoke with a bow and a radiant smile. The same voice as the rabbit that had invited her down, with an outline of an eye on his forehead like the one she had seen in the sky. Was that his doing too? - ”You didn’t interrupt anything at all. Actually, you two are free to join whatever we already have going on. Do you like dancing?” - Jun smiled warmly, it was nice to be welcome despite the lack of formal invitation, and Bai’s energy was infectious. - ”Or maybe you prefer table games? We’re playing for money tonight, but we’re poor sorcerers, so you won’t win very much.” -
”You’d probably have to teach me, and cover my debts.” She’d reply with a light giggle, swaying along ever so slightly with the beat of the music. Money was not something she had a lot of, nor was experience with a variety of games for that matter. ”What is this place?” Jun asked, with a genuine sense of wonder, before being hit with a full whiff of the food on display. Sparking a faint grumble from her stomach and a light blush. ”And, would you happen to have any nut filled cakes?” She followed up with a shy smile, bringing her right hand up roughly five inches from her bosom and pointing at the array of mooncakes available.

"Don't want to brag, but I've been known to know my way around the dancefloor," Sun Nao replied, examining his claws with another bashful grin, followed by a very graceful backwards somersault and he did so without spilling his drink. "And no, I did not learn that from my father; he's a horrible dancer. But if he asks, I'll deny ever having said it."
He threw another mooncake into the air, catching it with his mouth and eating it whole before taking another sip. Well, this was not so bad! Food, drink and music, and best of all, his annoying stepfather was not around... or well, it was his clone that had to deal with the shitshow of a family dinner.
"This here is the Hong Kong Sanctum, alongside the Sanctums in London and New York; it is the base and home for the masters of the mystic arts" He leaned in closer. "So mostly stuffy old people reading books and drinking." He gave Jun a wink. " And I believe these are nut-filled cakes, or... I did not check which one I picked" He looked at the many Mooncakes on his plate, taking one after the other and sniffing them. "Nope, red bean, lotus seed, salted egg yolk. The salted egg yolk is my favourite. Aha, here we go, Mixed Nuts." He took the Mooncake and held it towards Jun. "Here you go, Miss Jun"

Bai let out an impressed whistle at Sun Nao's graceful somersault, the move even earning a few cheers from nearby dancers. He nodded along at Sun Nao's explanation of the Sanctums, chuckling at his accurate description of the residents. "The Sanctums also protect the world from mystic threats, alongside the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj. The Sanctums protect the world, and we sorcerers protect the Sanctums," said Bai, echoing something Wong once said. "And yeah, a fair amount of stuffy old people."
Another sorcerer waved over at Bai from the playing table, gesturing to him to come over and play a new hand. Bai waved his hand in decline, but instead snapped his fingers, the drinks on the playing table suddenly refilling as though being poured into by unseen sources. "I agree, the salted egg yolk is a strong choice," commented Bai, taking one himself. "And it wouldn't be the first time someone's asked me to cover their gambling debts, Jun. For you, I might just do it, but only for tonight," he said with a smile, only partially joking. He was finding it tricky to not get distracted by the pretty woman before him.

- ”Don’t want to brag, but I’ve been known to know my way around the dancefloor.” - ”Oh!” Jun’s visage shifted quickly from polite smile to a flash of concern then pleasant surprise as Sun Nao smoothly somersaulted backwards, without spilling his drink no less, eliciting a soft trine of quick claps in applause, blending with the whistle from Bai and cheers from other partygoers. - ”And no, I did not learn that from my father; he’s a horrible dancer. But if he asks, I’ll deny ever having said it.” - Jun smiled at that, it was fun to think a legendary being like the Monkey King was a poor dancer.
- ”This here is the Hong Kong Sanctum, alongside the Sanctums in London and New York; it is the base and home for the masters of the mystic arts. So mostly stuffy old people reading books and drinking.” - Nao’s joke elicited a soft giggle. She was reminded of the Sanctum at home, his description could certainly apply there as well. Perhaps she’d travel to these other Sanctums sometime. - ”And I believe these are nut-filled cakes, or... I did not check which one I picked. Nope, red bean, lotus seed, salted egg yolk. The salted egg yolk is my favourite. Aha, here we go, mixed nuts.” - With a curious gaze, Jun watched Sun Nao sniff through the assortment of mooncakes on his plate before handing one out to her. He must have quite the sense of smell to pick up on the fillings with such ease, and salted egg yoke did sound rather good.
- ”Here you go, Miss Jun.” - ”Thank you, Sun Nao-sama.” With a bright smile and a slight bow of gratitude, Jun accepted Nao’s gift with polite gratitude, and an honorific befitting his divine nature. If either of them were familiar with the term and/or use, her nationality would no longer be in question. - ”The Sanctums also protect the world from mystic threats, alongside the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj. The Sanctums protect the world, and we sorcerers protect the Sanctums, and yeah, a fair amount of stuffy old people.” - Jun shifted her gaze to Bai, listening intently as she took a small bite from her mooncake. It was quite good, but what he was saying was far more interesting.
They sounded much like her own order, each protecting their homelands from the threats that arise and together protecting the world, and not just sorcerers but at least one demigod. Though, the way he specified the Sanctums protect the world gave her the inclination that there was some mystical importance to the Sanctums themselves. Had they been around for a long time? If so, why did the elders not tell her of them? Were they worried-snap. Bai’s means of refilling the drinks of his companions pulled Jun from getting lost in introspection, and she quickly blunk away a look of being lost in thought. - ”I agree, the salted egg yolk is a strong choice, and it wouldn’t be the first time someone’s asked me to cover their gambling debts, Jun. For you, I might just do it, but only for tonight.” -
”That is kind of you to offer.” Jun responded warmly. ”I would not leave my debts unpaid. First, I have to ask...” Her attention would shift to Sun Nao, her tone a little more demure. ”Are there more like...” Her voice caught for a moment, she found herself wanting to say us, but, was she? “You?” Jun finished, sounding unsure of her word choice. Were there more children of the divine in the mortal realm? Could they help her? Could he? All questions she wanted to ask, but she felt they would detract from the festivities at hand.
