Sun Nao nodded. "Yeah, he's the best!" He said he had grown close to Wong and spent much time with him when he was not training with Strange, alone, or with his father. He looked to Jun, giving her a bright smile. "I think you'd like Wong, Jun, he's awesome."
He asked her a moment of thinking, how did one join the Sanctum?
"Good question," he said... "I just became a member when I became apprentice to Strange. There were some tests, but I already was so in the thick of magic that it was a cakewalk..." As he said this, he collected a slice of cake and ate it in one bite. "I was not born into it, and if you want to join... well, meeting Doctor Strange would be a good step; he's the Sorcerer Supreme, after all." He paused, collecting another slice of cake. "I think that's alright to share. I mean, you're pretty much magical already, and you're connected to the goddess of the sun, as far from dark arts as you could come."

Bai stroked his chin as Sun Nao answered the question, thinking over Sun Nao's case. According to Sun Nao, The New York Sanctum had more or less sensed Sun Nao and "invited" him in, and became the Sorcerer Supreme's apprentice after what sounded like just an impromptu interview. Sun Nao's case was somewhat atypical, but not entirely unheard of in history. Bai wondered what made Doctor Strange accept Sun Nao so quickly and seemingly so easily as an apprentice. Maybe the Doctor sensed something innate about Sun Nao? Perhaps this was a more calculated decision than Bai could see right now.
For a moment, Bai considered withholding the information about how the Sanctums accepted outsiders. It was, after all, up to the sorcerers' discretions to share such information to outsiders. But Sun Nao had already made Jun's case for her, and it'd seem mean to tease Jun over such things at this point.
"It depends, is the short answer," answered Bai, taking some sticky rice and mango slices from the table and putting them on a plate for himself. "It depends on both the Sanctum and the applicant on what the application process is like. I can't speak for London or New York, but in the Sanctum here, anyone who wishes to study the mystic arts is usually sent to Kamar-Taj to train under her masters. There, they typically cultivate a master-pupil relationship with one of the masters for years, a relationship that typically continues after graduation. Once the masters of Kamar-Taj are satisfied that the applicant is ready to be called a sorcerer, they are assigned to one of the three Sanctums to guard. There's also an entry test for Kamar-Taj herself, usually an interview with a test of character and/or skill. The Ancient One conducted my interview when I first arrived at the age of 14, but I had already been learning magic independently of the Sanctums through my parents."
Bai took a healthy bite of sweet sticky rice before mixing himself a fresh drink. "Why do you ask, Jun? Interested in joining? The Sorcerers of Kamar-Taj are always interested in talented potential members, and I see no reason why I wouldn't recommend you to the masters. You certainly sound experienced already."
