Yugo was sitting on the roof of his father's inn, which now also functioned as his office since Alibert was elected Hateno Town's mayor. The little boy watched the people as they walked down below. Things had been bizarre since that odd monster attacked the town, not in the sense that much had changed, but it felt different. The people were on edge, and they had sent a messenger to the capital with a letter for the king. Hopefully, his majesty saw fit to send someone to check in on Hateno Town. Or that was what his father kept on saying... Yugo pulled out the weird black metal piece, turning it over in his hand. He had already looked at it from all angles, and so far, it had not yielded any new information. It was just as black and ominous... metaly, but not shiny. "I've never seen any metal like this before. Have you, Az?" The little tofu was resting on his master's hat, only making a lazy sound before turning over and returning to sleep. "You're not helpful at all." Muttered Yugo but left the tiny companion be. Well, maybe there was someone he could show it to who might know more about its origins. Someone from outside the town because no one inside the town seemed to know anything.

With a yawn and a stretch like a cat, Elyssa woke up in her wagon. She was on her way to the village of Hateno to perform for food and lodging as always. She followed her nose to wherever it pointed and at this point in time it had pointed her here. She had asked a local for direction and couldn't help but notice he was tense and a bit uptight. As her wagon creaked and rolled into Hateno, Elyssa noticed the same tense atmosphere all around her. It was as if they were all ready to flee, to run away on a moment's notice. Although grief and seriousness had its place, not that the bard was sure what had happened here, but she decided to liven up the mood a bit and summoned an accordion. The very moment her wagon was within sight of people, she took a deep breath and hopped off her wagon. She started skipping towards the townspeople, playing an energetic melody that spurned people to dance, cheer and clap along. It was contagious and more and more eyes turned her way, towards the source of the infectious music rolling over the town. As Elyssa danced around people and smiled, they couldn't help but clap their hands and dance along to the merry, energetic tunes. It wasn't long before people were dancing like mad as the whirlwind of music rolled in over Hateno.

Yugo had laid down on the roof, looking up at the sky, almost drifting off with Az, when music reached his ears. The boy sat up again, which caused Az to tumble down into his lap with an indignant squeak. It took the youngster a few seconds to locate the source of the music. It was a pretty girl dressed in blue, and judging by the ears, she looked to be a Hylian, a minstrel perhaps? That would be what the people of the town needed if it could cheer them up, even if just temporarily. Still, Yugo had never seen her before, so she was not from the town.
"I think this might be what we were looking for, Az" The tofu had settled down on his master's lap, giving him a reproachful glare before looking towards the dancing townspeople. "Don't you see, if she's a minstrel, then she travels so that she might know more about this weird metal, and that way, maybe we can find out what that monster was. It is brilliant."
Az did not share the enthusiasm and decided the best course of action was to climb inside the Yugo's front pocket.
Yugo continued to listen, and the music was excellent, but he did not feel like dancing... no he had a critical mission.
"Question is, how do I get her to..." His eyes slowly wander to the little pack of food next to him; there is a nice shiny red apple there. "Maybe..." Yugo grabbed the apple and roasted his hand to summon a portal before tossing it down towards the crowd below; then, he called a portal and dropped it inside. Elyssa would hopefully notice the appearance of a lovely apple falling out of a hole in the air.
If not, Yugo could always toss other things...

Finishing up her melody and twirling dance, Elyssa stopped right next to her wagon, finishing on an elegant pose before sweeping the hat from her head in a theatrical bow and a smattering of applause. As she held her right hand out during her bow, she saw an apple fall out of the sky and caught it, taking a bite. "Thanks people, I'll be 'ere all day!", she said. "I'm 'ere to perform an' bring some joy in these times, 'cause you all seem to down, and we can't 'ave that now can we? Now if you wanna 'ear my real stuff, you make your way to the local waterin' 'ole and I'll be there tonight entertainin'!", she said to the sound of some chuckles here and there. As some in the crowd came up to her to put rupees in the hat she had placed on the ground and others dispersed, she started looking around for the mysterious apple-giver. "Who gave me this apple?", she asked, "I wanna thank'em!". A young man stepped up, saying "I gave you that apple!". Elyssa eyed him and gave him a suspicious, yet amused squint of her eyes. "Didya now, luv? Why don'tcha make another apple fall outta the sky like that then?". The young man blushed and said. "O-okay, it wasn't me, sorry, I just wanted to impress you!", as he ran away. Elyssa giggled, a bubbly, lovely sound. Men always acted so silly around her, but it never ceased to amuse her. Elegantly swinging herself up on Xarxes' back, her hat now full of rupees, she spoke to the old mule. "Wasn't that a great start, mate? Well, what say you we try to find some 'ay for you, yeah?". The old mule just grunted in response and slowly started to move, as Elyssa hummed an old song she knew was Xarxes' favorite, and popular with all manner of mounts. It was as if her humming emitted an aura of calm, as anyone who heard her song as the wagon rolled closer felt a sense of relief, that things might be bad now, but there's always a new dawn on the horizon, a brighter day ahead of you. As she lazily steered the old mule through the main road, looking as she had not a care in the world, she glanced around for any signs of the mysterious apple-giver.

Yugo watched. She had noticed the apple... but then some weirdo decided to butt in and try to claim he gave her the apple. The little boy's brow furrowed. But, thankfully, the girl did not buy it. This was a bright sign, too; she could help; Yugo just felt it in his hat. "Hey! It was me!" Yugo called out from above, waving to get the girl's attention as she passed below. He was just about to walk closer when he stumbled, falling headfirst down towards the ground, and as a reflex, he twisted his hands in the air; before he hit the ground, Elyssa would see the little boy fall into a glowing hole that he had just thrown there, and appearing out of another. This little trick of improvised acrobatics caused Yugo to land roughly on his feet just a few yards away from the bard. A moment of awkward silence followed as Yugo's cheeks became slightly pink. But he quickly pulled himself back together and struck a pose that he hoped looked cool. "Tada?" He tried, unsure if he should stay or run to the end of the world and maybe jump off the edge.

Elyssa watched as the boy tried his little feat of acrobatics. Gasped as he stumbled, and gaped as he conjured a portal in midair and popped out from another. As he landed and finished with his little pose, she clapped her hands together and laughed. "Bravo!", she called out. Smiling at the boy. She got off from her wagon and headed over to him. "Well aren't you a 'andsome 'lil guy? Thanks for the apple, mate!", she said as she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close in a big 'ol hug. As she let go, she looked at him with a curious smile. "I'm Elyssa Oakbranch, bard extraoirdinaire, who're you, mate?".

Yugo blushed even more at being referred to as handsome, even if he did not much like the little guy. But he could let it slide and managed to mumble something that could very well be some thank you, which was difficult to hear. To make matters even more embarrassing, he found himself being hugged, hugged by a very cute girl at that. Once he was released from her grasp, the boy stumbled a few steps back before landing on his butt on the ground.
"I'm--" He quickly got back on his feet, adjusted the hat, and ensured it was secure. "Yugo, me, that is. Just Yugo so that you can call me... well, that." He cleared his throat, thinking of ways to save what little dignity he had left. "and this is Az..." He continued, pointing to the little tofu peaking out of his pocket with sleepy eyes.

Elyssa giggled at Yugo's reaction. It was clear as day he found her pretty, and it amused her a lot. He was far too young for her, but there was no doubt this guy would be a real heartbreaker in a few years. As he introduced himself and the little bird-creature thing, Elyssa let out a squeal of excitement. "Oh 'es an adorable little fluffball isn't 'e!?", she let out, looking as if she wanted to hug Az and never let go. "So, Yugo, anyfin' on your mind? You gave me an apple an' I appreciate that, but 'ave you come to 'ear more of my music? I'm performin' at the local waterin 'ole tonight if you wanna come listen.. At least that's the idea after I've spoken to whoever's in charge around". She eyed Yugo up and down.. "That's a funky-lookin 'at you've got on your 'ead, mate. I like it!".

Yugo did his best to keep up with Elyssa's fast speaking, but some of her words sounded weird. He did catch some things: she found Az adorable; he was right that she was performing, so she must be a minstrel of some kind; she needed a place to stay and wanted to know who was in charge. "That's my dad!" He exclaimed happily that he could answer. "He's the mayor here and also the owner of the town's best Inn, which is also the Town Hall these days; he did not want to close or sell the Inn when he became Mayor. Dad's Gobball stew is the best in Hyrule, no, the world."
He paused, quickly remembering that she had asked why he wanted to talk at all; it was the important thing.
"Yes, you're a minstrel, right? So that means you travel and know a lot, right? It's just that a weird monster attacked our town, and we've no idea what it was or where it came from."

Elyssa listened to Yugo with an amused smile on her lips. His father was the mayor AND the local innkeeper? "Well ain't that just a double whammy, love, you're just full of surprises!", she said. "I've never 'ad Gobbal stew, sounds delicious". Just like Yugo didn't like being called 'little' by her, she frowned a bit as he said she was called a minstrel, her elegant little upnose crinkling slightly. Even when she was upset she was pretty, and it was quite common for people to go out of ther way to try and make her smile again. Her frown disappeared as fast as it had appeared though and she didn't hold it against him, a lot of people mistook bards and minstrels. "I'm a Bard, love. It ain't the same thing. I basically do the same thing a minstrel does, but better, and I am more of an adventurer on top of it, and whereas a Minstrel's just travelin' around entertainin', I can actually weave magic into my music, songs and dance". She took a deep breath and started singing softly as a blue sheen started healing the little scrapes Yugo had on his arms after his falls trying to get to Elyssa, to prove the magic she had. After finishing up, she smiled at him again. "Welp, if your dad's the one to talk to, lead the way, mate. 'Owever I'll 'ave to discuss with him about room and board, I'm a bit on the floor 'ere".

Yugo was unsure how he did it, but from her frown, he must have insulted her somehow. Was it something he had said? He did listen as she explained, and... had no idea about that difference and felt incredibly stupid. "We only get minstrels and troubadours here; I don't think I have ever met a bard before." He said, scratching himself on the cheek with a sheepish smile. "I'm sorry, I did not mean anything bad with it." He watched as she started singing, and his eyes widened as the little scrapes vanished in blue light. Once she was done, he spun around and tried to get a good look at himself, rubbing the spots that had just healed. "Wow! That's so cool. That's the coolest thing I've seen since I found out I could make portals with my hands." He looked to Elyssa with the brightest grin in the world, "You need to meet my dad this way." He grabbed her hand to lead her toward the Inn. "You're just what Az and I were looking for, Miss Elyssa." The Inn in question was not big, which made sense as the town was not that big either, and very cozy. "Dad!" Yugo called out as they came inside, "Coming, Son," came a voice from the back, belonging to a large man with a big moustache and an even bigger hat than Yugo. "What did you--" He stopped as he noticed Elyssa, smiling brightly. " Ah, hello traveller, do come in. Welcome to our Inn. I'm Alibert, and I see you've met my troublemaker of a son."

Elyssa waved her hand dismissively as Yugo apologized. "No worries, mate, it's all good". As he enthusiastically said it was the coolest thing he had seen she smiled wider, and as he grabbed her hand to lead her to the inn, she let out a little "Oh!" in surprise and then giggled, wrapping her fingers around his and following along. He was very straightforward and it was refreshing to see. She looked over her shoulder towards her mule as she was being dragged towards the inn. "Xarxes, I'm being kidnapped, please follow along and we'll see if we can find a stable for you, love". The mule once more just grunted and followed the duo. As she was dragged into the inn, she looked around at the cozy establishment. The smell of excellent, home made cooking hit her nostrils, and it took all of her willpower to not start drooling.
She saw the older man, Yugo's father Alibert, and gave a theatrical bow, sweeping her hat off her head so the feathers on it waved through the air. "Good evening, sir", she said, her tone slightly more elegant than her usual relaxed self. "I am Elyssa Oakbranch, bard extraordinaire". She stood back up and offered him a smile, flashing a row of perfect, white teeth. "Your son 'as been nothin' but a perfect gentleman, and it was 'is idea to go 'ere and talk to you". She extended the same smile to Yugo, but with a sly little wink as well. It was what she was planning to do either way but she might as well give the little rascal the cred, as Alibert had refered to him as a troublemaker, she liked him even more as she had been an incredibly rambunctious child herself.
"I travel the world to wherever my nose takes me, performin' where I can for room and board. I'm a bit short on rupees at the moment, but trust me, I'll put on a show you'll never forget in return for somethin' to eat and a roof over me 'ead". To emphasize this, she took a few elegant dance steps, enough to conjure some magic, her skirt twirling around her as music and slight illusory images of her appeared for a second before disappearing. Elyssa was just not going to wow these people, she was going to imprint her performance into their mind for a long time, possibly forever if she could.
As she finished her display, her stomach let out a loud growl as she realized she was actually really hungry. She blushed, giving Alibert an apologetic smile. "Ehrm.. Maybe it's possible for that meal up front, eh?", she asked awkwardly with a little chuckle.

Yugo walked over to his father as Elyssa talked, and the man gave him a slight grin and placed a hand on his head when he was praised as a perfect little gentleman. "Well, you're most welcome, Miss Oakbranch. This Inn is not as fancy as many others, but we try to make it comfortable." Alibert said. " And, of course, you can perform for lodging and supper far better than my old friend Ruel, who still has a tab a mile long."
"Ruel and Dad used to be out doing bounty hunting together," Yugo commented, having climbed to sit on the front desk of the inn with his legs dangling.
"Yes, that was long ago; I gave it up, and something else occupied my time." He glanced at Yugo before looking at Elyssa again; he grinned as her stomach rumbled. "Why don't you sit at an empty table, and I'll out a bowl of our famous stew." He gestured to the many free tables before disappearing into the kitchen.
"The stew is delicious; I helped make it today," Yugo explained, "The secret ingredient is love. Well, not really, or maybe it is? That's what makes it secret."

"Please, just Elyssa will do", the Bard insisted as Alibert called her Miss Oakbranch. When he spoke of the inn not being as fancy as many others, she waved her hand dismissively again. "Nonsense, it is these cozy countryside inns that are the best ones". Hearing about Alibert and this Ruel whoever he was, having been out adventuring she got curious. Finding a table to sit down at, she turned to Yugo as he spoke, placing her hat on the bench next to her, shaking out her hazelnut-brown locks, the teal highlights contrasting the darker color. "Your father's a former bounty 'unter, eh? What a badass", she said with a grin. "Bet 'e was also quite 'andsome in is youth. Not that he isn't 'andsome now", she said, shooting Yugo a slightly teasing grin, indicating she was probably messing with him a bit. "You 'elped makin' the stew? Then I've no doubht it'll be great. In return I'll put on a show that will blow your mind. You'll get to see just what I can do with my bardic magic", Elyssa promised with a wink.

Yugo continued to be fascinated by Elyssa; she was unlike anyone he had ever seen; she was spirited, pretty and had such fantastic hair! "Yeah, he was and is; he's my dad after all", Yugo replied happily. "Well, Ruel always said he did not have the heart for being a bounty hunter, and I'm inclined to agree, Dad is far better at being a dad than a bounty hunter, and also mayor, which is sort of being a dad for a whole town." Yugo sighed slightly, and it was clear he did not like sharing Alibert; he was HIS dad, after all.
"I did," he quickly perked back up. Dad is teaching me to cook, and I'm getting good at it. Maybe one day even the Princess could try my cooking..." He paused, narrowing his eyes as he examined Elyssa closer. He had never seen Princess Zelda; he just knew she was pretty, which Elyssa was. "Are you secretly the princess in disguise?" He asked, unsure if she would admit it even if she were, but he felt he needed to ask.
