Rules
Character Template
1. No power playing or god modding. Please don't make your character all powerful, indestructible or unable to be hit. This ruins the mood for everyone and is unfair to the roleplay without reasonable explanation or a way to justify or stop the amount of power. This also goes for meta gaming, just don't do stuff your character wouldn't do (or be able to do) or have your character suddenly know something IC that you know OOC.
2. Only video game canon characters may be claimed for canon slots. What this means is that if you want to play a canon, they must have originated from a series
that began as a video game. For example, a player would be able to claim Axel from Kingdom Hearts, but none of the licensed Disney characters that also feature in that series. However, this rule can be bent under certain circumstances. Here are two prominent examples:
There are some franchises that are known almost exclusively for their video game adaptations. The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 are known almost exclusively for the video games from CD Projekt Red, rather than the novels and tabletop systems that they were based on. Characters from these franchises are available to play in New Game+.
Many video game franchises have transcended their medium through popularity in mainstream culture. Characters - and versions of characters - that only exist in adaptations of a video game franchise within a different medium are equally valid to play in this RP. Netflix’s Castlevania, Carmen Sandiego, and Arcane are a few of the biggest instances that this rule applies to.
3. Character Limit. There is no limit for OCs. However, you can only have up to seven (7) canon characters across the roleplay (Note: Each mod has an additional canon slot, referred to as a "Mod-PC". Mod-PCs are meant as plot-heavy elements in their respective region, and should not be considered a complete character, but are closer to a partial NPC). If the mods deem it necessary, this canon limit may be increased. As of now, players cannot apply for any characters from the Type Moon franchise. The mods reserve the right to add franchises to this list in the future.
4. Please label all New Game+ threads with location tags.. The seven areas of Amalgamos are too large to manage appropriate subforums, so whenever you start a thread, add an approximate location within that region for where the scene is taking place. These additional labels will help pinpoint the location of each thread while slowly developing the concrete details of Amalgamos. Here's an example:
Let's say that I want to hang out with players in the City. Specifically, I would like to do something with City Security, with my officer,
Garrus Vakarian. I would tag the thread title like so: "[Downtown - C-Sec Headquarters] Hard Times". This tells players that might be interested in joining in the thread that this scene is taking place in the downtown City, where the C-Sec headquarters is apparently located.
It should also be noted that the genres of Amalgamos’ umbrella settings are not a strict limit on where you can and can’t play your characters. They are a recommendation at best. After all, the appeal of a multifandom roleplay is throwing characters into situations far outside their source material. So long as you aren’t breaking a setting
too much, anything goes. The mods will let you know if you’re out of line, but please use your own judgment too.
5. The continuity of various video game IPs will frequently be mixed in with one another. Characters and their respective histories may have the same backstory from their series of origin, but the nature of this roleplay will often mish-mash video game IPs together to make for more dynamic storytelling. This process is not a hard science, and is meant as an ongoing conversation between the mods and the players. As the roleplay continues to unfold, the setting will become more established in how elements from different video game universes connect with one another. Please communicate with the mods if you have any questions.
6. As this is a freeform roleplay, mods will seldom check threads, so if there are any problems, please let a mod know. This includes asking mods for NPCs if a thread calls for it (but please prioritize interacting with your fellow players!) However, in issues of player conflict, the parties involved should try to resolve things amongst themselves before consulting a mod. Regardless of circumstances, mods can and will get involved with situations where a player (or players) is god modding, power gaming, spamming, etc.
7. Character Death. Character death can and possibly will happen in the stories of New Game+. These disclaimers must be made clear in stories where character death can be a possibility
from players as well as from mods. Make sure you are willing to accept the responsibilities of dropping your character if it comes to that.
8. Explicit content is not allowed. Per the rules set for the entire ProBoard, explicit content such as brutal violence, gore, explicit sexual acts, etc. is not allowed. If the mods see that kind of content in the roleplay,
you will be banned from New Game+. If you’re unsure if your post might be crossing this line, please check with the mods. Better safe than sorry.
