The Alpha Assembly
The Alpha Assembly is just that, an assembly of the best and brightest representatives of the City, far and wide. These members are appointed by the Mayor of the City, assisting her in making the many decisions that affect the daily lives of the millions of citizens that they govern. Mayoral elections are held once a year, and are regarded as one of the most important events in the City, and for good reason. The Mayor is the guiding light of our government, a reminder of what we strive to move from, and what we yet move towards. The van der Meer administration has won the past twenty-seven elections. Decisively. With that said, all parties are welcome to participate in the election process. This is a democracy, after all.



“Nothing is True. Everything is Permitted.”
The Brotherhood
Depending on who you listen to, you may view the Brotherhood as the ultimate hive of scum and villainy, a blight on decent society throughout Amalgamos, or simply a nuisance that will never make a difference. The truth - a kernel of it, anyway - is that the Brotherhood takes all kind of downtrodden, misfortunate renegades and cutpurses into their ranks. The Brotherhood does its best to uphold a reputation of looking out for the communities of the City asnd abroad, and to strike back at oppression wherever they find it. Self-aggrandizing they may be, they claim to have a vested interest in the shared prosperity of the citizenry - and that isn't happening with things the way they are now. The Brotherhood may also be found abroad, though the bulk of their operations are based in their headquarters in the Downtown district.



”Fortune favors us.”
The Canopy Consortium
The Canopy was an ancient kingdom that served as one of many foundations for the original Haven. It has since grown into a corporate haven of sorts, a sprawling empire where cold business interests preside over millions of lives. From life-saving pharmaceuticals to cutting-edge cybernetics to the glitz and greed of big entertainment, there are few areas of society untouched by the Consortium’s influence. Its corporate masters are such a dominant force in City politics, even the Alpha Assembly is often privy to their steep demands.



”Protect and serve.”
C-Sec
Short for City Security, the matter of law enforcement has plagued the City for as long as there has been a City. C-Sec has maintained an increasingly severe attitude towards crime, especially those stemming from the many social ills that continue to pervade City society. In the wake of Sigma, this stigma has intensified particularly against synthetics. While C-Sec has established itself as a necessary force in the City’s government, it is just as clear that their treatment of criminals borders on cruelty. The current Commissioner o C-Sec has no time for anyone remotely like their kind, and the company he keeps in C-Sec’s leadership mirrors his sentiments.



“The pursuit of knowledge is the pursuit of all.”
The Institute
The Institute is a research foundation at heart, and an academic institution shortly thereafter. It welcomes all forms of study, from the maddest of sciences to even occult research, so long as their case for academic rigor and distance from ludicrous pseudoscience can be made. The faculty for the Institute is quite extensive, often involving numerous rotating professors on certain subjects, though there is a core faculty that serves as the backbone of the Institute and what research it is interested in pursuing. So long as it can attract investors for Cave Johnson’s think tank, then they are more than welcome to the Institute’s halls.



”Don’t fuck with Aria.”
Omega
Omega is the crime syndicate in the City. It has been for the past three hundred years, and its Queen Bitch is keen on keeping it that way. Omega is a top-down system of leadership, with Aria T’Loak having the final say on anything and everything. Period. With that said, Aria's underbosses handle the ins and outs of Omega's routine operations, as well as managing their own gangs within the syndicate's network. So long as they continue to serve Omega and bring Aria good results, then they have free reign to do as they please.



”When everything changes, nothing changes.”
The Process
The Process is rumored to be older than the City itself. As far as most people are concerned, it’s a mildly conspiratorial label for the high society who think themselves above the fray. For the most part, this is true. Orders are rarely given to members of the Process, though punishments are prompt and harsh to those who offend their mission of pragmatic administration. Petty squabbles are one thing; getting in the way of a better City is another.



”This is the part where we kill you!”
Wheatleytown
Do you see the sign? Wheatley...town? Not, Citytown? Coptown? Garbage Can? No, it’s Wheatleytown. Technically, you could call it Robot City, Cyber World… but, uhh, it’s Wheatleytown, so, there you go. Always been Wheatleytown. Don’t need to worry about anyone else. No police, no City officials. In fact, what City? Wheatleytown is all the City you need! No need to leave, no need to even try to leave, really. That wouldn’t be smart, either. There’s a list of not smart things to do, and that, that one, that is near the tippy top. Now just, turn around, and head back to Wheatleytown, alright? You love it here! You love it here.

Magog Town
The Magog Cartel is not known on Amalgamos, but it is infamous across the universe for its growing influence in morbid industrialism, especially in places where regulations are scarce; places like the Frontier, on Amalgamos. Magog Town is their staging ground for drilling the Frontier dry, and more, if it can be helped. Most of the people living call it Homestead, however. Always have, and if they have their way, they will again.



”Embrace the unknown!”
The League
The League is equal parts a sportsman lodge and adventurer’s guild for the thrillseekers of the Frontier. Members of the League seek out the wild haunts of the Frontier, to tame the forces within as well as to bond with them. While these goals may seem at odds with one another, the League maintains a passionate interest in safeguarding the beauty of the Frontier against abuse and exploitation.



”What’s yours is mine~”
The Scrappers
The Scrappers are people of the wilderness, observing no laws and despising civilization as a whole. They are not organized like Homestead; at best, the Scrappers are loosely organized bands of roving raiders who answer to the cantankerous Red Queen.



”Boldly go.”
The Travelers
The Travelers are a ragtag enterprise of wayward explorers and pioneers. Interested in neither fame nor fortune, the Travelers do what they do for the thrill of the adventure, and to foster communities far removed from civilization. They pave the way for honorable livelihoods in the Frontier, often at odds with the reavers and industrialists that seek to exploit what they find out there rather than cherish it.

The Blackstone Legion
The Blackstone Legion is, first and foremost, an order fueled by and driven towards the perpetuation of conflict. Warriors are of course important to the Legion, though of even greater importance are those who understand what drives men to anger and battle; such things are, after all, the ingredients of war. THe Legion has no singular ruler, but rather, several Warlords that came together in an ancient pact. The Warlords of the Blackstone Legion are all accomplished conquerors, each of them devoted to the philosophy of war and its perpetuation throughout the Realm and its many lands. Each Warlord takes a distinct approach to warfare, thus posing as many unique threats to peace throughout the Realm.



”Demacia, now and forever.”
Demacia
Demacia is a highly sophisticated military nation on the brink of industrial revolution. Its society is increasingly secular, further distancing itself from Hyrule and the Chantry. Any remaining ties were swiftly ended when Chancellor Osborne took power. This has cultivated a divide within Demacian society between those who continue to support their faith to a higher power, and those who have turned towards the Chancellor and his industrial vision. In turn, Demacia’s own royal family has come to serve a symbolic purpose in its society, particularly with regard to the Thors Military Academy. The academy was one of the Chancellor’s first programs, where commoners and nobles alike could come together to prepare future generations to meet the challenges that awaited them. The military is no less significant in the new Demacia, however. The technological boom has greatly enhanced Demacia’s efficiency in warfare, particularly with regard to The Shepherds, Demacia’s foremost guild of heroes and adventurers devoted to maintaining peace… as determined by the Chancellor.



"By His Grace We Prosper"
Ferelden
When King Cailan succumbed to the previous Blight, it seemed then that it would fall to Loghain and the Grey Wardens to meet the call against evil. Instead, it seemed that it was Loghain alone who rose to the occasion. Through unprecedented support from the Tevinter Imperium, Ferelden triumphed against the Darkspawn under Loghain's leadership, and his alone. Disgraced, the Grey Wardens were ousted from Ferelden for their treachery. New accords were struck with the Imperium, who were content to strike a bargain with Ferelden's new King. In another time, things may have ended differently. But not here. Here, Loghain's will prevails... though, you may hear something different outside of the King's inner circle.

Oh youth, show the two whirling sails the way to the Light Tower... and before you a path shall open, and a heavenly song you shall hear."
Hyrule
The kingdom of Hyrule is a staunch realm among the many kingdoms that make up the great Realm itself. Hyrule is a kingdom created and defined by the Light, a reputation that is no less than mythic. So too are its champions sworn to Hylia, the Heavens, and similarly hallowed forces, so set against their dark opposites that would destroy Hyrule and everything it stands for.



”Noxus rising.”
Noxus
The Noxian Empire is one founded on strength and boldness. On the surface, it is a meritocratic regime, raising up the downtrodden to the power that is rightfully theirs. Truthfully, Noxus is wholly autocratic, existing to serve its ruler’s dark ambitions. The empire as a whole is a rigid and practical machine, giving everyone their due place, and moving up those who prove themselves worthy of greater service to Jericho Swain.



"Let us unite this day. Let us renew our promise to uphold and protect the Light, and together we will face down this dark new storm and stand firm against it—as humanity always has… and humanity always will!”
Stormwind
Stormwind has remained a remarkably independent kingdom in Thedas ever since its founding. Its human bloodline runs deep with the blessing of Light, not unlike Hyrule far across the sea in Tamriel. The Kings of Stormwind - and now Varian Wrynn - have adhered to a righteous nobility that has set them apart from the rest of Thedas' cynic aristocracy time and again. Now they remain one of the only Thedan nations yet to bend the knee to Tevinter... though time will tell how long that will last.



”Might and Magic.”
The Tevinter Imperium
For as long as anyone dares to remember, Tevinter has been an empire ruled by mages. No matter how much wealth or how many armies you may wield, your power means little in Tevinter if you cannot tap into the primal forces of the universe that many understand to be “magic”. One need not be a mage to be of Tevinter, though the prestigious caste of the Imperium are. Tevinter is also one of the only contemporary nations that not only abides slavery, but enforces it, in the name of imperial pragmatism. It is this arcane regime that has a stranglehold over the continent of Thedas, and set adamantly against the many people of Tamriel. War has come between them before, and war will, in time, come again. Or so Tevinter hopes.
