It had only been a few days since her encounter at the mall and it was a struggle to process. She never imagined what kind of emotions she would be experiencing but she wouldnt have guessed fear to be one of them. It was terrifying and she had so many questions. The experiencre shook her and she had been spending most of the time she had been sitting in her room trying to get away from it all. It was blared all over the news though she was thankful that she had avoided speaking to any of the reporters though her and kitana were on the screens.
She was sure she was getting in trouble, even though she did her best to limit the involvement with the villains directly but she had still attacked them in the end. Then there the vigilantes, they werent brutes like she thought they would be. If that one guy hadnt exclaimed loud as he did that he wasnt a hero afterall, he would have passed as a hero. They were all heroic, they all helped and they used none of the methods she thought they would.
Then there was her actual ability to be a hero. Sure she had only been in school for a few weeks but she should have been more level headed and less scared of it all. Did she have what it took to be a hero? So many questions were running through her head, it was chaos and an absolute mess up there and she wasnt used to experiencing all these emotions all at once.

It seemed like everyone around her was getting stronger. Fighting villains, getting real world experience... Yoichi felt like she was being left behind by many of her peers. How could she become the number one, if she couldn't keep up? Yet... she couldn't help but think about Kachiya. She had met rivals, enemies, teachers... but only one friend. She had been so nice to Yoichi after the exam, and she reckoned it was only right to repay the favour. After seeing the villain attack on the news, Yoichi took herself to Kachiya's room.
She stood outside awkwardly for a few minutes. What was the right way to enter? Her mother just barged in whenever she liked, but that couldn't be proper etiquette could it? Eventually she decided just to knock, then open the door a crack.
"Hey, Kachiya?"
Slowly, Yoichi stepped inside. The room was familiar to her, but the whole experience was still foreign. A friend? She couldn't believe it, just waiting for it to come out that this had all been a mistake. That Kachiya didn't really like her.
"I, um... saw the news. Are you okay?"

Kachiya had jumped at the sound of someone knocking at the door, wiping away a tear as the person who knocked had made her way in. She was glad, in a way, that she didnt have to go up and open it. She had bonded with Yoichi but a part of her wondered how she would take in weakness. She had opened up to her considerably but that hadnt crossed Kachiyas mind.
Yoichi was tough, insensitive at times but... Kachiya learned it was a front... she hadnt gotten to much information and most of what she thought was still uncomfirmed suspicions but she knew she had a difficult upbringing
She forced a smile on her face as she walked on in, as well as a forced laugh
"Hey Yoichi. I..."
She paused for a moment as she registered her question
"I dont know. It was terrifying, nothing like the entrance exams"
She responded with a quip, attempting to skirt the subject. Talking about the news was hard but... Yoichi opened up to her.... she sighed. She did come to check up on her so she had to care enough to not pass judgement, right?
"Its... alot to process I guess. Alot of stuff was going on at one time"

Yoichi recognised the sight of someone trying to hide their pain, their fear. It was what she saw most mornings, reflected in the mirror. Still, it wasn't nice to see it in someone else, especially not someone like Kachiya. She hesitated in the doorway, fidgeting with something behind her back.
"I can imagine. The real world seems far more chaotic than our sterile schoolgrounds. I'm glad you're okay, though. Um..."
Yoichi paused, looking up at the ceiling for a moment. It seemed like she wouldn't enter without permission, even if she had opened the door on her own.
"...May I come in?"

Yoichi had managed to get a small chuckle out of her with her comment about the world being chaotic
"Yeah, it sure seems like that"
She had responded back, not having noticed her shifting slightly, or not thinking anything of her standing in the doorway until she asked about coming in
"Oh! Yeah, yeah. You can. I could use some company and stuff"
She stated, her expression softening a bit. It seemed like Yoichi was being receptive and supportive, and so far their relationship seemed good enough.

"Thank you."
Yoichi bowed her head formally, stepping into the room and glancing around its familiar features. She looked almost instantly at the wall of plushie Pro heroes, then whirled around to face Kachiya.
"I got you something! To say... hope you feel better."
She flourished what she had been behind her back. It was a Vixen plushie, complete with nine incredibly bushy tails. Yoichi stroked one absently before pushing her arms out so Kachiya could take it.
"I figured you had one already, but... I figured you like them enough to have more than one. And it's the hero that you worked with! I watched the news footage. You were really great."
Yoichi smiled, an unnatural act, and hovered upright for a few more moments, unsure of what to do with her lanky body, watching Kachiya with a curious gaze.
"You're a step ahead of me now. Fighting a real villain... it means you're a step closer to being a real hero."

Kachiya gave Yoichi a surprised expression at the thought of a gift. She wasnt expecting anything and she didnt think the other students would understand how terrifying the situation was.
"You did?"
Was all she had managed to get out before revealed what she had behind her back. She had swallowed a knot in her throat. She wasnt sure how she felt about Vixen after this but... the gesture was too incredible to pass up. She had grabbed the plush as it was presented to her, giving her a genuine smile
"Thats so sweet... thank you"
She stated, hugging the plushie close. Even if her feelings for the real version didnt mean she stopped idealizing them. It was childish, but it helped her to cope in this moment. She had started to close the distance between the two of them but stopped herself, biting her lips slightly as she remembered Yoichi liked her space
"I uhm... would like a hug, if youre ok with it"
She stated, then yoichi had moved on to talking about how she was ahead of her... she didnt think of it like that. She wasnt competitive like the rest of her class. Part of her wanted to dismiss what Yoichi stated, it just didnt sit right but she could tell she was just trying to cheer her up.
"Hmm.. guess so, I didnt really think of it like that. I didnt even do all that much against the villain"
She stated, looking contemplative. There were alot of emotions surrounding the situation, but she still gave yoichi a smile

Yoichi visibly bristled at the request. She still smelt the earthy body of Gigabite when he had hugged her, and all the emotion that came with it. Yet Kachiya seemed sad, though she wasn't showing it outwardly. Perhaps a bit of contact would help her friend? Yoichi nodded quickly, then pulled Kachiya into a hug.
It was awkward, with Yoichi not really knowing what to do with her hands, resolving to grasp her arms behind Kachiya's back. Definitely a bear hug, but she made her best effort to put some good feeling into it. Pulling away, Yoichi gave her a fairly awkward smile.
"Better?"
She took a step back, head cocked to the side. Kachiya didn't have the competitive streak that many of the rest of class 1-A had. Yoichi wondered what Kachiya was really doing here, but also reminded herself that not everyone had to be as intense as she was. Slowly, Yoichi sat on the bed, and patted the seat next to her. She had learned something from Gigabite... and that was how to talk to people properly. A slow process, but still, everyone had to start somewhere.
"What made you want to be a hero? Like, truthfully. I haven't fought a villain, so I don't have the experience, but... isn't that the goal of all of us? To be in a place where we go and... kick butt?"
She rolled the last phrase around in her mind before saying it. It felt naughty to say, but Yoichi felt a thrill for saying it. She grinned to herself, but remained serious for her friend.
"You said it was terrifying... but that's what it's going to be like. Did you feel anything else? A thrill, a rush, or..."
She waved her hand in the air, gesticulating a word that didn't reach her tongue.
"...I don't know. Alive?"

The hug lasted for just a few seconds but it was enough for the timid girl. She nodded at Yoichis question, a small smile on her face
"yeah, thanks"
She stated as she took a seat at the edge of her bed, hugging her plush close. She had a contemplative look on her face as Yoichi asked questions of how she felt.
"in a sense I guess... I was focused on the civilians... They needed help, direction and I was there to give it to them. In the moment, I heard all the words people told me as they tried to encourage me and I was able to act on it I'm just..."
She paused for a moment as she tried to get all her words together, trying to explain everything.
"Vixen couldn't handle the villain on her own and vigilantes had to come and help Everything is just all upside down and nothing makes sense anymore"
She noted, dropping her head and fiddling with the vixen doll
"my whole vision of what heros and vigilantes are just... 180'd"
She picked her head back up, suddenly and chuckled a little as she shook her head
"I didn't mean to dump all that on you and I didn't even answer your question. Both my parents are pro-heros and I want to follow in their footsteps. Make them proud I also want to keep the world safe. "

"Vigilantes?"
Yoichi frowned. She had to admit, she didn't know much about them. Mother had called them villains too weak to accept the title, or people not good enough to be a hero and she felt inclined to agree, never having crossed one's path. Still... if someone like Vixen had called for their help, then perhaps it was more nuanced than all that.she cocked her head to one side, looking across at Kachiya as they sat next to each other on the bed.
"Life's... confusing. There's so many things I'm learning from being at U.A. concerning heroes, villains... Vigilantes. Maybe you need to speak to Vixen about what happened? She's a teacher here, after all."
Yoichi gave a slight, one-shouldered shrug.
"We're going to learn a lot in this place, not all of it comfortable. And I guess if compromise of our morals keeps other people safe, maybe it's okay?:
Yoichi stared up at the Vixen plushie, then the rest. She lingered on Nocturne for a while.
"I think everyone has inner boundaries. Maybe it's part of being a hero to cross those, once in a while, in the interest of doing the right thing."
She said this, not just to Kachiya but inwardly to herself. How far out of her comfort zone would she have to go? How far was she willing to go?

Kachiya looked away as Vixen was brought up. Maybe Yoichi was right but she wasn't yet ready to do that just yet
""I... Guess. She really would be the only one with all the answers I need, I guess
She admitted. Letting out a deep breath, resting her forehead into the palms of her hands
"she's the last person I want to talk to but... Eventually I guess
She admitted, listening as Yoichi continued to speak. It laid heavy on her heart, the notes she made. Doing things that tested her morals was the last thing she expected when working towards a hero but it was apparent that things weren't always what she expected or even thought it was going to be like at all.
"maybe... You're right. It seems like nonsense but... There are a lot of things that don't seem how I thought things were.
She squeezed the plush in her hand as she looked up at the ones she had on display. She thought of them all as perfect, the pinnacle of society but was that really true?
"I thought heros were perfect, beyond human but... If we are humans learning to become heros, is that all just an image? Would we need to compromise who we are to save everyone else? Is the bravery all just an act?"
She questions, as she lets out a deep sigh, and looked over to Yoichi giving her a weary smile
"thanks for coming you're a... Good friend."
She noted. It was nice, having let all what was in her mind out in the open. It helped to talk about it, even if who she talked to didn't have all the answers and someone who could relate to her was a bonus.

Yoichi frowned as Kachiya spoke. It was totally reasonable to think that heroes were pinnacles of society. Even if they made mistakes, they still put their lives on the line for the sake of others. She gripped her hands into fists and looked up at the rows of Plushies.
"We shouldn't comprise anything. That's just being false. Our morals... they're what brought us to this point, right? So we shouldn't cast them aside for anything."
Yoichi turned her head towards Kachiya, a smile on her lips. It was kind of forced, because she wasn't that good at it, but she meant it too.
"You don't have to compromise who you are to be a hero. That's what makes a good one, I think. You stick to your principals, and don't let anything get in your way. I also don't think bravery is an act. Heroes are brave by just putting on their costume every day."
She flushed as Kachiya called her a friend. Friend? Yoichi looked at her lap, eyes wide.
"T-thanks... you're a... good friend too."

Kachiya watched Yoichis facial expressions as she spoke and laid down her thoughts. She had tenacity, and a way of thinking that was unapologetic. Part of her wished she could be the same but it also inspired her, and helped to give her clarity. A smile appeared on her face and she had felt a renewed sense of hope and determination to continue to become a hero. Yoichi was right, she would figure out her stance on vigilantes another time, right now she had to work on becoming the best hero she could be
"You have a powerful spirit. You know what you want, and I think it will get you far"
She noted, falling backwards on her bed and turning to look over to Yoichi
"That will make you a great hero, I think. The ability to be sure of yourself. It inspires confidence in others, and makes them want to be better too"
She commented smiling, biting her bottom lip as she turned her gaze to the ceiling. Her thoughts have quieted and she could think clearer now. A lot of questions were left unanswered still, but maybe over time she'll get the answers she is looking for.
"you're a better person than you give yourself credit for, I think.
She noted, her gaze remaining fixed on the ceiling.

Yoichi didn't know how to react to the sudden onslaught of compliments. She twisted her dress into her hands, warmth flooding her chest like poison. Or was it... something good? She looked at Kachiya with her best attempt at a smile. Yoichi had been practicing those. More and more, she had opportunities to use them.
"I guess... but that's why we're all here, right? You can't have made it into 1-A without spirit. You're being hard on yourself, I think."
Coming from Yoichi, this was a big statement. She frowned, looking up again at the rows of plushie heroes.
"We're both here for a reason. You have to make your own path, right? Don't worry about what other heroes are doing. It's all about your own sense of what's right and wrong."

Kachiya was caught by surprise by Yoichi's word. Was she too hard on herself? Yoichi herself had sky high expectations for how she should be herself so such observations were not one she expected nor took lightly
"Y-you think so?
She thought she was weak by comparison to everyone else. In her mind, she should be better, stronger and more determined.
She turned her head and faced Yoichi as she continued to speak, internalizing everything that she was saying nodding as she spoke. She had a level of wisdom to her that one wouldn't guess she had meeting her for the first time.
"thats... Thats good advice. Thank you"
She stated, smiling
"How about you? How are you doing so far I think... Your advice could be followed by us both"
She noted, as she gazed at her for a moment.
