Right now she's using a rough style full of things she's seen and copied... but I bet of you offered to give her proper instruction..." Onaka suggested "lots of interaction, some close contact, and she's a pragmatic one, the usefulness of the training will be appreciated"
Onaka would turn and open her door "you should talk to Ayane too, that girl has been crushing on Serena for a while, not that Serena has noticed at all. I bet if you can convince her to share she'd have all sorts of tips... but at the very least you two are going to need to reach an agreement so there's no fighting over it. you'll probably find her in the engine room right now fixing whatever her latest experiment broke... be mindful of explosions."

Stars shimmered in Yanagi's eyes. Swordplay was one of the things she loved and if she could teach that to the one she wanted to court, then maybe there was hope after all! "That is a great idea, Onaka! Though I hardly consider myself a top notch instructor. But I do know quite alot so I'll do my best!" Her heart soared and she made for the door before it was even fully open. "Thank you!"
She ran out in a major hurry. She cared little about her own safety as shemade her way down toward the engine room. "I am looking for the one they call Ayane!" she called out. "I seek wood and materials and to ask for advice!" she called these phrases out while looking around each corner.

Ayane wasn't hard to find, even half buried in the engine and covered in grime, the amount of noise she was making fixing the thing acted as a beacon to her location
"Well you came to the right place for at least two of those things. Not sure what advice you could want from me unless it's about science stuff though" Ayane called out from inside a machine, popping out to get a look at Yanagi

Yanagi was blunt about what she wanted. "I need tips to speaking with Serena!" she looked at Ayane full of vim and vigor.
"I am also looking for cloth and sandpaper if ya got any of those as well. Am looking to carve me a pair of geta." she off-handedly stated but seemed more energetic about her first statement. Her face was clearly animated and still without her kimono top. "I was referred here for all of those things! Apparently, you are the one to talk to here! This place is pretty noisy by the way..."

"Talking with GAH!" Ayane said, face turning red as she shot upright, banging her head on the way up and dropping a tool into the engine from the shock. Grumbling a bit she calculated the distance and dimensions between her and the tool that had fallen out of reach, and a rope manifested in her hands with one end tied around the tool to let her pull it back out.
"What do you uh... need to talk with her about? You wouldn't need advice for normal stuff... so that means you..." Ayane said, dreading the answer she knew was coming

Yanagi smiled broadly with her fists clenched before her. "Yes! She fed me and saved me from the brink of death! Therefore, she will become my future wife! Onaka said you have the ability to talk to her without her getting angry! i would very much not want her to be cross with me." she replied quite happily, looking eager to hear what masterful advice Ayane could possibly have. "You also know the location of various materials I need to craft myself some geta! As far as I see it, you are the one to speak to!"

"But if she becomes your wife then she won't be mi... er... never mind!" Ayane protested, then blushed and cut herself off despite it being far too late to salvage the sentence
"Anyhow I have a notebook on her quirks and triggers. But all my notes are written in an ancient language only I can translate so far as I know, but a rule of thumb or two. Don't touch her without express permission, don't waste food, and under no circumstances try to walk in on her while she's in any state of undress. I didn't even see anything and she kicked my ass for it. I can only imagine how badly it would go if you DID see anything" Ayane said, covering for her slip by infodumping

Won't be what? Yanagi tilted her head at the words but listened intently for the rules.
Her stomach dropped as the first thing she listed she knew she already did. The second there would be zero problems. The third. Oh the third. She sweated bullets. Two out of three already violated. She got a name at least. That was something she couldn't have been angry enough about to let Yanagi have. Hope was there. However dim it may be.
She chuckled nervously. "I'll um...be sure not to do any of those things then! Certainly not the second as I've managed to down every last bite of food and drink she prepared for me!" she declared this proudly with her thumb jutting at herself.
She eyed Ayane up and down as well to size her up. She decided if there were rules for Serena then maybe each person had a rulebook! Was this how things worked outside Wano? "What about you? Anything I should know to get to know you better?" she asked out of genuine curiosity.

"Me? Well I'm less difficult than her, less trauma and hangups. I tend to get super absorbed in my inventing and science. It's my hobby and passion. So if you ever wanna talk about stuff like that I'm your gal. Outside of that... I dunno." Ayane said with a shrug "it'd also be nice to indulge in some traditions from home with someone again."

"Eh? You are from Wano as well? I grew up in Kuri myself. We need to have some tea together at one point. Perhaps out on deck where there is a nice breeze." she suggested. "I am called Yanagi by the way. Yanagi Ebigawa." she performed her bow and beat her chest once. "It will be a pleasure seeing you around! It brings me great joy knowing a bit of home is this close at hand!"
Her eyes cast off to the side. It did feel good. She sniffled and wiped her eyes on her arm. She felt so welcome despite some minor hiccups here and there. it was enough to bring her to her knees and start to cry just a little.

"Ayane Yosuku, it's an honor" Ayane said with a genuine smile... which turned to panic as Yanagi sank to her knees and began crying
"No wait I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you cry! I know we both have a shared crush but I'm not mean and want to upset you because of that please don't cry uhhhh here wipe your eyes with this!" Ayane said in a panic, making a handkerchief appear in her hands and handing it over

She swallowed hard and used the cloth presented to her to wipe her eyes. "I'm ghhh just touched *hic* that there are still nice people like hnnn you all outside of Wano. Home seems so nnngh far away now but to have you around *hic* makes it feel that much closer." she managed to blubber out.
At first, it seemed like she didn't even hear Ayane about liking Serena as well until...
When she wiped the last of the tears away from her cheeks, they were flushed just a little possibly from the crying. "Ah so you fancy her as well? Then you'll be wife-in-waiting." she said as candidly as she possibly could and was difficult to gauge whether or not she meant those words. But her next expression which was starry-eyed was totally as such "She's just...so very nice. Rough...but nice. I can tell..."

Ayane froze at it was revealed she'd just blurted out her crush in her panic, horror on her face "wife in waiting... that's nice... wait no! I don't wanna just be an accessory to your relationship! Equal partnership or bust! I'm not some side piece" she said, her horror turning to fire and passion quickly

Yanagi seemed very taken aback as her eyes went wandering for several reasons. Then she bore a smirk. "Equal then? OH!" she went straight to Ayane and clasped her hands around hers in a ball. "Each OTHER'S WIVES! I admit I have heard about such things in ancient legends...great swordsman having two wives and they all love one another like a great big family!" she was on the verge of tears again."That sounds so special...family...hnnng..." Her chin wrinkled and tears began welling up.

"Hey, no more crying and getting me to panic and spill my secrets dangit!" Ayane protested as Yanagi began welling up with tears again, she was blushing a bit at the clasping of her hands by the large woman, but she handled it a bit better than she handled getting flustered previously "it sounds like a plan then, we'll both woo Serena together and have a nice big family. Now pull yourself together, none of us can get anywhere like this..."
Ayane would extract her hands from Yanagi's, then dart over to her work bench she'd set up, grabbing a block of wood and some tools, then manifesting a sheet of sandpaper in her hands, bringing it all over to Yanagi "here, for the Geta. Just be aware the sandpaper will vanish if you dunk it in seawater, or if I get dunked in seawater. It's not 'real' like the wood or tools are. There's 'real' sandpaper somewhere in my workshop but I don't need it often so I don't have it on hand here. I really need to get back to fixing these engines before your captors stumble across us or something. But we'll talk more later ok?" she said "maybe over tea, or washing backs, something from home. I'll translate my notebook back into something you can read too so you can learn the ins and outs of Serena... just try not to break those big rules I mentioned until then."
