"Oh..." Kitana said softly, pulling Sicily into another embrace "we'll find her. I'll do everything I can to help... maybe we can get some of the detective type heroes at school to dig into it too. I know Nocturne-sensei does detective work"
Kitana didn't voice all her thoughts on the matter though. The way Sicily described her mother sounded too much like her own mom. When Kitana wasn't panning out to be the obedient shrine maiden to pass the lineage onward... her mom had been so ready to toss her away and forget her entirely if she could bear another girl to replace her. Was Sicily's mom the same? Had she... no. That wasn't the kind of accusation to make even in her thoughts until she had at least some clues... and she wasn't going to say it to Sicily of all people, not until they had leads pointing that way.
"In the meantime... how about a little prayer of sorts... I am a shrine maiden after all. If anyone's prayers will bring your sister back..." Kitana said, cupping Sicily's hands in her own as her eyes glowed, an orb of light forming above their intertwined hands "maybe somewhere somehow she'll see this...
Gently, she'd raise her and Sicily's hands to lift the orb up, letting it float away into the sky, a floating orb of blue light that soared away into the sky. Kitana would then close her eyes and offer a quick prayer... she steered clear of her religious teachings usually. But if there was anyone she'd take up the mantle of a maiden again for...

The calming noise of the rain. The glow of the orb. It mystified Sicily . Her eyes were fixated on the orb that then lifted up into the sky. She looked up as it rose up high into the sky then heard Kitana murmuring something under her breath in the form of a prayer. It felt relaxing to say the least but also hopeful. She'll never give up as easily as mom did. "I don't know if it works that way but...it's a very wonderful wish."
As she said as much, her hand came around Kitana's shoulder then pulled her in close. She turned her head and placed a soft kiss upon Kitana's cheek then laid her own cheek against it. She then looked skyward with a blissful sigh. Avernus and Stella rested then on the opposite shoulders of the two girls as they too looked toward the sky. As grey as it was, there was a beauty in the rainfall that seemed to put the snake-haired Sicily at ease.
"Be safe..." she thought to herself "wherever you are..."

Kitana looked up into the sky with the three other heads present as the orb of light eventually faded, whether it was just too far away or if the energy it was formed with had just run out was impossible to say. Glancing over at the now seemingly calmer Sicily, Kitana was glad for all the rituals back home she'd learned. The ones related to using her powers had stuck with her because they were good practice, even if she didn't buy into the holiness of it all.
The moment of silent staring at the rainclouds would pass though, as Kitana's fur got increasingly soaked and she began itching to get under some cover. Then they'd both hear a cute tiny sneeze. One might've thought it was Kitana sneezing from the chill of the rain, but she hadn't moved her head at all.
"What was..." Kitana said, grateful for the excuse to move towards cover without ruining the moment, she'd turn and look down to where she'd heard the sneeze from, then gasped. weakly walking towards cover was a small animal with features very familiar to the two of them. It was a tiny fox, malnourished and soaking wet, but a undeniably a fox.
"that's not a native fox, those are bigger... what's a fennec fox doing out here?" Kitana said kneeling down in front of the fox, it instinctively recoiled from the big creature in front of it, but slowly began to sniff Kitana, smelling a fellow fox. "some people keep them as pets, but they're pretty exotic in Japan

Instinctively, Sicily looked to Kitana for the sound. She had grown so used to hearing that adorable sneeze, she simply smiles whenever she heard it. But it wasn't her this time. She looked and was surprised to see an actual fox taking shelter with them. "Mini floof..." she murmured when her eyes fell upon its soaked form. Her twins snakes straightened up with attention but chose not to make a move. Instead, they simply observed and awaited Sicily herself to do anything.
"So small...." she remarked. Her eyes suddenly softened. "I hope they weren't abandoned. " As much as she wanted to rech out and help, she got the feeling this little one was frightened enough as it was and crowding it would only make it more nervous. Let the fox in her general area take care of this for a little bit.
At the same time, she ws a bit tense to reach out to another creature. She hadn't allowed many other things to get close to her before for fear of mother taking it away or doing something worse. But those fears were long gone. Still, there was that lingering reaction to keep herself distant for the time being...but she wasn't going to push things away. Not like she did before.

The fox sniffed Kitana a bit more, relaxing a bit until it saw Sicily and her snakes, squeaking in terror and darting behind Kitana. It had apparently decided 'human who smells like fox' was preferable to 'human who has snakes'
"aw it's ok little one, she doesn't bite, come here let's dry you off" Kitana said, gently scooping up the little fox and starting to dry it off as best she could "it looks like he was on his own for a while, he's just skin and bones... no chip verifying he's vaccinated or has an owner either... I think he probably escaped from some sort of pet farm, maybe a legitimate store, but more likely a farm considering his condition.
The fox nuzzled up to Kitana, reveling in her warmth, it eyed Sicily warily as Kitana moved closer with him.
"shhh, it's ok, she's a friend, see?" Kitana cooed, moving closer slowly so Sicily could get a look at him and pet him. The fox still seemed scared of the twin snakes, but it wasn't recoiling from Sicily herself for now

Upon Sicily's face came a smile of realization. Ah, so this one wasn't happy where it was living so it ran off. It must have been stifling if it was that desperate to get away. If only she could, she would do so as well. But it wasn't entirely bad. She had her brother at home. She felt indifferent about her father and Kitana knew exactly how they both felt about their maternal figures. Least in the dorms, she could get away from it all. Seeing this bundle of spry, determined ball of fluff reminded her why she decided to take a chance at breaking free.
She slowly reached out but kept her hand a small distance away so it can approach of its own accord. Her anxiety quieted down and her eyes softened.
"It's alright, little one...you're far away from whatever frightened you."

Slowly the fox crawled forward, sniffing Sicily's hand, before gently nuzzling it for a bit. It wasn't long before it retreated back to Kitana though, having clearly already grown attached to her.
"I certainly wasn't expecting to pick up a little guy like this shopping today. Can hardly just leave him out here now though... guess I've got no choice but to take care of him now" Kitana chuckled "good thing the dorms allow pets."

It was enough for now. Sicily brought her hand back and looked up in reflection. She wanted to show her everything; more than what the dorms had. Where she grew up. All her favorite spots in the house. Properly introduce her to her brother. But of course, the biggest obstacle was always going to be....
She frowned slightly. "Wish I could take you to my home. One day...maybe..." she murmured. Her fingers curled up.

"One day. Your mother can't be an obstacle forever... worst case scenario once you're old enough to defy her without fear we can just sneak in to see it while she's away" Kitana said with a mischievous grin "I'll be sure to bring stuff to prank her with too when I show up, get some payback for all she's putting you through"

The thought of her mother falling down the stairs from a childish but deserved prank made the girl honestly giggle then laugh out loud. She held her sides at the cartoonish thoughts playing in her head. "So many stairs..." she managed to snicker out before she then imagined just the two of them with the home all to themselves. It would be so special...!
She placed both hands on Kitana's shoulders."Oh,oh we are definitely going to pull every single prank on her and that means we need hiding spots...hiding spots I know all about!" she smirked with a lifted eyebrow. "That means alot of sneaking around...squeezed together...heh..." she lightly blushed at the idea but the excitement of having someone other than just herself and her brother just made her shake with anticipation...and also give Kitana a coy look.

“Hey you know I’m not going to mind squeezing together with you, I think at this point that’s pretty obvious” Kitana said with a chuckle “maybe not stairs pranks though? These are pranks not murder attempts. Rule 1 of pranking is you confuse and inconvenience, but never hurt.”
The little fox looked at the two girls quizzically, then decided it wasn’t getting enough attention and climbed to Kitana’s shoulder to nuzzle her cheek
“Yes yes I haven’t forgotten you” Kitana said as she pet the fox “you really were a pet before huh? You’re setting into the role fast enough”

Sicily huffed. Seemed like she really did want a stair prank. Oh well.Maybe she can make her mother look super confused. That alone made her smile again. Once the rain stopped, she could get all of them indoors as she was especially concerned for the littleone that was making themselves right at home with Kitana.
Her arm went around Kitana as her snakes cautiously slipped around as well to provide extra comfort for Kitana while making sure the little fox was safe but not insomuch as being intrusive.
"Why don't we got shopping for supplies for this little one while we shop for ourselves? Once this rain clears of course." she quickly added, reassuringly squeezing Kitana's shoulder.

The little fox still seemed really wary of Sicily's snake twins. It made sense, either of them could probably eat the little guy, but so long as they kept their distance he seemed content to nuzzle Kitana.
"Yeah, I definitely wanna get him some food and basic supplies. I can figure out the rest on another trip once I do more research." Kitana said "this better not be a ploy to sneak a peak in my bags for all the clothes I picked out to surprise you with though, I've got my eye on you... all three of you"

The snake girl shimmies her shoulders with a coy smirk."Who me? Nah. I can wait to be surprised. After all..." she looked at the little fox then to Kitana. "...this one was a very pleasant one and totally made our day. And these two would probably clam up about whatever they might see." she narrowed her eyes and glared at Avernus and Stella who attempted to look nonchalant about the whole thing.
She nuzzles the cheek of Kitana with her own. "I also miiiight have already gotten you an extra gift ahead of time." she giggles.

When Sicily nuzzled Kitana, the fox made noise in protest, trying to wriggle between them. It seemed he was being possessive of Kitana now. When he failed to separate their cheeks he curled up on Kitana's shoulder and pouted
"Oh? Well I can hardly wait to see, but first and foremost let's get this little guy some food. He looks like he hasn't eaten a proper meal in a while" Kitana said, making the fox's ears perk up despite him putting on a show of pouting
