((I will allow up to two weeks of posts for students to chat with one another with no post order before class starts. At that point, class will begin and I will start setting deadlines to post each week. If your character does not respond during that interval, your teacher will act accordingly.)) Humanities. It was a word that meant more to the least human teacher on the U.A. faculty than most, more than many people who were well-versed in the subject itself. Klaus Ritter was a Mutant who prided himself on the history of the written word, and the countless ways in which the arts expressed themselves over the ages, least of all those here in Japan. He had a certain fascination with the haiku... but, that was for another time. This was only an introductory course, and the first day at that. What mattered most was that the students were made to be as comfortable as possible while maintaining the decorum of a classroom. As much as Klaus wanted his students to be able to feel comfortable in an academic environment, he wouldn't allow discord in homeroom. Until that time came, the #8 Rescue Hero in Japan stood idly at the front of the classroom, resting his massive arms on the ground in a posture that was not unlike that of a gorilla. That, and his bright-red necktie, identified him as one of the most recognizable, if unique, members of U.A.'s faculty. His bright, bulbous glowing-green eyes occasionally browsed the room to see who the students were and how they were getting along. They would be spending a lot of time together; this year, and all the years afterward. Even if they didn't get along, they would have to get used to each other's company.

Koito walked in with some pep in his step. "Morning, Teach." He waved. The number 1 student was the first in class, it only made sense. Based on reviews on his reputation was a clumsy troublemaker, with distinct talent and instinct. He was flashy just like his idol, the number one hero, but in his case, it was to his detriment. Koito Narasaka was his name! He was a boy all the way from little ol Kure city by Hiroshima. He ripped some bandaids off at the trash can and splashed some hand sanitizers on his wounds before shuddering from the apparent sting. The boy was also coming from the hospital as he'd gotten into an accident in the exam. There were plenty of desks open, so he'd pick one and jump. Yes... JUMPed! In no time, he was "sitting" perfectly comfy floating near the ceiling.

Kachiya was feeling good, great actually! She was oficially moved in on campus and her first day was today! She had hanged her UA uniform after ironing it the night before so it would remain nice and crisp, made sure she had all the utensils needed (and then some) and set her alarm an hour early to ensure that she was ready on time.
She was one of the first ones there, her giving Gigabite a smile and a formal bow before sitting in her seat. She had made some friends already, and her head was full of advice on what to do. She felt the most confident than she has had in a long time for once... she felt like she could do it, and nothing was going to stop her! Of course, she would pick a seat in the center front of the class as it would be the best place to give the teacher her full attention.

The middle row. The far left seat. It was a proper location, at least to the logic of the girl known only as Karin Aokami. Appropriate depth so as to be able to pay attention to the class subject material, but not the front row where one would be the center of attention of the professor, and not the back row where usually the uninterested and unmotivated students tended to prefer to spend their time with more room to act as they would like. Longitudinally, sitting in a row at the edge of the classroom would attract the least attention of other classmates, where her presence could exist without positively or negatively impacting the performance of other students, as much as possible. This much, of course, was among the least of the preparation she could do prior to attending the very first class of Karin's lifetime.
With little else to do, the mysterious girl had been patiently waiting by the door for the professor to arrive for the greater portion of an hour, much too early in every expectation. She had simply stood on standby, only turning her head towards the direction of the hallway when she sensed the presence of the oversized insect lifeform that was the #8 Pro Hero. With only a furtive, knowing smile that she had passed to the professor, Karin had quietly followed him into the classroom and taken her seat in her pre-determined spot as scouted the day prior.
Her breathing slowed, and her presence as a human was nearly undetectable as she simply began to watch from the edge of the classroom as students began to trickle in. It would not be a surprise if the other students did not even realize she was present. After all, she had not participated in the entrance exam, either. Her face would be unrecognizable to the rest. There was no need for her to speak up until addressed.

Shizo arrived exactly on time, not a minute early or late, walking in the door as soon as class was set to begin. It was a habit really. Being late at home meant punishment, being early meant extra training tasks piled onto him... basically also punishment. He gave a polite smile and nod to Gigabyte as he entered, then looked for a seat, there was still a good amount of space, so he found a spot apart from the others for now. He didn't really have any close bonds with anyone yet, he was still working on figuring out how he wanted to be now that he had some breathing room from his parents. It's not like he didn't want to socialize... but he had no experience socializing with people of his own choosing, only with those his parents had picked out for him as ways to make connections and network.
Looking around the room Shizo spotted several people he recognized from the entrance exams. The loudmouth, the quiet girl who'd done shockingly well despite not drawing much attention to herself and then there was... wait he didn't recognize that one. He almost overlooked her entirely, might've actually missed her if she wasn't one of only 4 other people in the room at all. Who the heck was she? Maybe a different testing group like that Sicily girl was? Or someone who got in on recommendations?
Either way Shizo wasn't extraverted enough to actually approach her to find out, and she was very clearly in a seat away from the others kind of like him, so she probably didn't wanna be bothered anyway. He'd just leave well enough alone for now.

Like Shizo, the threat of Retribution in the face of tardiness meant that Yoichi entered a few moments behind, giving her teacher a deep bow as she entered. Her and Gigabite were already acquainted to a certain degree, and that was on top of the respect she already had for him, a teacher at U A., and a pro-hero she admired.
"Good morning, Sensei."
Yoichi did not allow formalities for the rest of them, sweeping into the room like a hurricane. Despite their talk about her actions, Yoichi still viewed these students as rivals, as people to step over in order to reach her goal. She did see Kachiya, giving her a small smile and bowing her head, but Koito, Shizo and... a girl she hadn't yet met, all received the cold ahoulder as she took a spot, at the front and to the far left corner. The two boys, after all, had some hand in losing her points during the exam. Yoichi would remember that.

Karin watched the students one by one as the classroom slowly started to populate itself. She idly wondered how many of them there would be in total, given that the dynamics of a group could change drastically depending on the size. So far, each of them proved to be at least mildly interesting. Reading their facial expressions and body language as they entered their first day of class at U.A. offered some shallow insights as to what they might be like. Some were quite open, some she could recognize held guarded thoughts and emotions. Many of these students perhaps had already gotten to know each other through the entrance examination, a fact that would isolate her from the get-go. But, it also presented the opportunity for these students to begin with a blank slate the way they chose to present themselves, rather than in a situation forced out of them by necessity. Each had their own circumstances, surely. Would they be as strange as her own? Perhaps not. But after all, it was her own first opportunity to interact with these strangers as well. Such a thing might be best directed from their professor, the one common denominator joining them all on this morning.
Yet, there was one student whose gaze had lingered on her for more than a moment, most likely out of confusion judging by his expression. Karin let the boy's thoughts ruminate briefly before shifting her eyes to return the attention to Shizo. She simply offered a small, knowing smile cracked from the corner of her mouth, and an empty wave, lacking in motion outside of the understood form of the hand's gesture. If he even spent a moment for his brain to acknowledge it, Karin's watchful eyes would have already settled back on the #8 Pro Hero, her hands gently resting together on the desk.

It had taken her a bit of prepping but the snake-haired Sicily made her entrance. Scoring as one of the highest in her group, she comported herself with an air of both sophistication and intimidation. She was, however, attempting to subdue the intimidating aura she sometimes gave off as it was a habit she had grown used to over the years. After all, she was slowly but surely breaking away from the mannerisms that had been drilled into her brain which seemed to have driven most people away.
It was only fair she acted friendly or at least try to.
Seeing the Number 8 in person was a humbling sight. She took a short bow, hand to her chest. "An honor it is to have you here with us, Sensei." After which she quickly strode over to the nearest seat in the front with which she settled into with little delay. She didn't take much stock in the students around her but acknowledged their presence. As much as she abhorred it, she would have to make the first approach towards any of them of she was going tobreak this social stigma that impeded her every step.

Koito raised an eyebrow at the apparent situation. This wasn't how he imagined Hero class to be. Everyone was so distant. Understandably he had made a rival out of Yoichi in the first 5 seconds of meeting her but the others seems to all stay to themselves. Tough crowd... ~~Strive would liven the mood up. I'll do the same~~ He briefly scanned from his high viewpoint and thought of what to say. Yoichi was the easiest target, but all that did last time was turn Shizo off from talking to him... The bickering was fun, but not the best first impression, especially since he'd never met some of these other kids before. Maybe they had different exams than him. That wouldn't work as an icebreaker would it? Shizo, Yoichi and Kachiya all shared an exam with him, but he didn't want the others to feel left out. Decisions. Decisions.
"Such a quiet bunch." Sometimes pointing out the obvious was best. "What's got you guys so clammed up? We're gonna be stuck with each other all year. Might as well get acquainted!" With a smile, he rotated and would settle his desk on the wall. Now that he was on a different angle, he'd go ahead and ask the best thing he could think of. "I'd like to know everyone's favorite hero if yall are cool with that?" Internally he patted himself on the back. An easy question that they'd all probably thought about a million times already.

Yoichi glanced across at Koito with a glare... but he was right. These people were all stepping stones to her future goal, but... even she felt the tense atmosphere. The others were silent, sitting in their own worlds. She bit her lip. Koito had made the first move yet again! He was always one step ahead of her, so it seemed.
And yet... the question was so tough. Firstly, the elephant beetle in the room. Say Gigabite and it might come across as trying to get into the Teacher's good graces, but say another and he might be offended, especially if it was another teacher! Yoichi mulled over her answer carefully.
"I've always been impressed by King. He's stoic, yet Heroic, and has a strong Quirk. Nocturne, too, though I aim to become a Hero like him I hope."
She caught herself before she started fangirling over heroes, a mental pass time for her. Staring at Gigabite, she gave a small smile. Yoichi could talk about heroes for hours, with anyone who cared to listen.
"I've admired you too, sensei! You have a way of talking down villains that other heroes don't possess. I like how you use persuasion over brute force, despite your size."

"I can't say I really have a favorite. I think all of them are admirable, and I never gave much thought to what kind of hero I wanna be like" Shizo said, happy for the conversation opener so he didn't have to sit around awkwardly in silence "me becoming a hero has always been my parents dream first and foremost, so I'm still kinda figuring that stuff out for myself. I guess if I had to pick one right here and now I'd say Momma Bear, I like how she uses her position to do more than just beat up villains and tries to do humanitarian work too. And of course I like Strive, hard not to like the number one right?"

Karin slid her eyes over to Koito, who seemed to be having a good time with his desk on the side of the wall. She listened to a few of the other students' answers, pondering the question with a finger to her lip in thought. The voice that spoke up was surprisingly light and delicate, but the words that they formed were anything but. "I partially agree, I also cannot say that I have a favorite hero. I however do not particularly think any of them is that impressive enough to warrant individual attention above any others. If they are each contributing to their own strengths, is that not enough?" She tilted her head in curiosity. "I also do not understand what being the most popular hero has to do with one's own personal assessment." A brief moment of silence, contemplating her next words as she let out a quiet breath. Contrary to Koito's own thoughts, it was most certainly not a subject she had given much thought if at all. "I suppose each individual has their own separate values for viewing the merits of others, be it for a deep or shallow reason."

Kachiya watched as the room slowly filled. She gave yoichi a wave and a small smile feeling joy over having made a friend in her class. Part of her contemplated leaving the spot she was in and moving closer to the other girl. Was it too soon? The room was quiet, no one was talking to each other which was... weird. It would take a moment before Kachiya made her decision to change her seat so she could be in convo distance of the girl but not too close to make her feel uncomfortable. She found a seat that was still close enough to the front of the class when Koito posed a question to all of them.
She knew the answer right away but she also didnt want to be the absolute first. She waited for others to go before chiming in herself
"um.. I would have to say Momma bear is one i find admirable. Her daughter as well, they make a good combo I think and the fact that she inspired black bear to become a hero after what has happened to her is a testament to her character. Of course, strive is someone to admire but all the other heros do alot of good work of their own, even if they dont always share the fame and recogniton that he does. Momma bear is inspirational to other young girls, l-like me"
She stated, soft spoken as always but there was a sense of conviction in her voice showing just how much she admired the older female

Sicily sighed. A loud and brash one to break the silence. It startled her but she was not averse to listening to others' opinions. It was easy to look up to the number one and the one sitting in the room for brownie points. The only one to warrant a modicum of legitimate attention was the one that spoke delicately. She wasn't sure of the name but they went on about how they weren't about to discount the rest to have a favorite among them. They were equally noteworthy in what they are meant to accomplish. To Sicily, this was going to be her answer. But she knew deep down there was one she could not bring herself to like.
Even the mere mention or thought of their face summoned a scowl to her face. But thankfully, they were a niche item on the hero circuit which caused her to relent.
With all the fawning they were doing, Sicily herself could not exactly stay quiet about her own personal opinion. In her own, outspoken, brusque tone, she stated "I don't much care for a favorite as I appreciate their symbolism on society. They represent strength. Determination. Willpower. Things we, who look up to them, aim to have an abundance of." she wore a tired if not a as-a-matter-of-factly expression going into the next portion. "We all strive to be like Strive. We want to be smart like Moonbeam. Illustrious as King. Compassionate like Momma Bear. But quite frankly? I would much rather be my own hero than try to imitate. Pretenders are by far and away the types that deserve the least amount of respect..."
After this, she remained silent, uncaring if eyes were on her or if they started disagreeing. She stated her opinion on the matter. That was all.

Koito looked to Yoichi who answered first. He'd nod excitedly upon hearing her answers. Fine choices... Based on who she was, they made sense. Then came Shizo, who almost reluctantly answered. "The number one is a coveted number. The best!" He agreed trying to push the conversation forward. Next was Karin who answer was...Merits? Personal Assessments? He'd quickly turn his nose to Kachiya. Now there was a straightforward answer. She'd get a big smile from the boy. Last came Sicily, who's answer was just as underwhelming. Pretenders? What happened to this being an easy question? To be honest, anything outside of a plain answer went in one ear and out the other for the spiky-haired teen. Well, he wouldn't fall back, he'd persist with something else.
"Why'd you guys pick U.A.?"
