Table of ContentsThe Buster BookNotable FiguresCity LocationsKnown OrganizationsCodified RacesImportant CultureRecorded EventsAny groups that have been referenced or used enough to warrant public awareness of them and their agenda within Buster City. Buster City High SchoolIn spite of its name, "high school" is a bit of a misnomer for Buster High. It is the primary institution of public education for all of Buster City, encompassing all levels of knowledge, short of university learning and beyond. It is a fundamental step in every Buster's life, where they are given the tools for their future and whatever it may hold, to say nothing of the daunting responsibilities of Buster High's faculty, so intertwined with the future of the city. Buster ForceThe security for Buster City is a far cry from what you would see in more conventional realities. The taciturn director who has presided over Buster Force for as long as there has been a Buster Force oversees several divisions, all of which seem to serve different roles as well as different niches. They work as a frightening buffer against the criminal element in Buster City… sometimes, as a buffer against its own citizens. Something about whatever it takes. Even here, law and order is an imperfect business, but it is a business. EveH.E.R.O.The Hammer Emergency Response Operations unit is as close to formal superheroics as you can get in Buster City. Though caped crusading is out of fashion here, that hasn’t stopped scores of adventurers with that idea to pursue justice however they can. Those who aren’t driven out of the city by Eve fall into the ranks of Captain Hammer’s private special forces company. Though H.E.R.O. often looks more like a paramilitary ego trip than legitimate law enforcement, H.E.R.O. provides results that no cops, even Buster cops, could ever manage. Captain HammerYuuki-tanPolice DepartmentBuster Force isn’t all about glory. It’s still the police force for the city, and the formal police division serves that exact role. Everything you would assume about a metropolitan police operation is the case here, and then some. The fantastic mosaic of cultures, technologies, even magics gathered here demand a diverse police force to address these issues, which they address in spades. Gerard MagnusAnja DushkinJ.R. NoirEmerald Star - ghostmytoast Dominion Ltd.The Hornets living in Buster City’s subterranea largely kept to themselves, content in their ignorance of the surface-dwellers. That changed when mystical honey was discovered by intrepid spelunkers, stirring the Superior Hornet Queen’s curiosity. That curiosity blossomed into a flourishing enterprise that has carved a sizable stake in Buster City’s corporate scene. To this day, Dominion, Ltd. continues to grow, unable to satisfy its Queen’s materialistic cravings. Queen Vesper - swapgo The EyeTruthfully, the Eye is not originally of Buster City. Its presence there is an estranged branch, formed out of circumstance rather than direct intention. Nevertheless, the Eye has come to maintain careful surveillance over the city’s magical affairs, keen to regulate those that stray too close to forbidden arts. The Eye is more intelligence agency than mages guild, keen to maintain a low profile while carrying out their operations. Lyse Farsight - MisterMau PersephoneHierophantThe Hundred FamiliesThe Hundred Families have existed in Buster City - and God knows where else - for as long as crime has existed as a concept. True to their name, they are a massive crime syndicate, a network of (approximately) one hundred affiliated crime families - some loosely, some not so loosely - interested in the perpetuation of greed and vice over the presumed law and order of Buster City. Led by the Reaper King Joheim, the Hundred Families are not as tightly knit as one might believe, most (if not all) of them interested only in their own ambitions, honor among thieves be damned. Such is the life of the criminal class in Buster City. The MurmThe family of the savage savant Reaper King himself, Joheim. Very little is known of the family that technically presides over all of the Hundred Families, save that it is seldom openly seen out on the streets. Many believe that the family is on the last legs, kept in check only by Joheim's authority and influence as the Reaper King. Whatever the case, the Murm are the best in the business at making things disappear, no matter the person, thing, or even place, by any means necessary. JoheimA.G.E.The highrise luxury and premium lifestyle of the Platinum District is home to Avant-Garde Enterprises. They are as high-class, blue-blooded as criminals come, with a taste for the obscenely abstract and white-collar crime that sets them apart from the rest of the Families. They are among the most wealthy within the syndicate, and certainly among the most arrogant. They care little for anything that happens outside their domain, but A.G.E. will gladly commit personal vendettas against those that slight them. Even minor offenses are just cause for completely unraveling someone’s livelihood, lest the trash forget their place in the order of things. Dadaniel L’ChampIRISDr. AuroraThe Fanahashi PlatformThe Fanahashi Platform is a syndicate of many leaders. They are entrepreneurs at heart willing to buy, sell and trade just about anything. A large amount of their revenue is made in debt collection, extortion and private contract work. The platform is a host of all kinds of drugs, (even experimental stuff), weapons, real estate, businesses and sometimes most importantly, a place to accrue favors from important people. If there is a distinct political and financial benefit to doing so, they will stick their nose and wallet in just about anything. Daibara FanahashiAfo ToussaintFanny - notdomi Matsuoka-kaiThe Matsuoka tradition runs back for dozens of generations, presenting the image of a beneficent yakuza clan, a respectable neighborly organization that sees to the needs of the people within its familial enterprise. Based in Little Fukui, the Matsuoka-kai are among the most routine of the Hundred Families, having honed respectable lawlessness to a razor-edge. Saeko Matsuoka - KittensMittens CJ - Bixir The Twilight GrandeThe preeminent casino enterprise in Buster City is chief among the most slick of the Families, if not for its ethereal business model, then for the enigma with which it flaunts itself. The Twilight Grande is itself a mythical place, a massive estate that can transpose itself throughout the city at will, often with an effervescent flair that enthralls those in the area to the destructive charm of vice and greed. Though the Grande has seldom engaged in crime explicitly, the nature of its business and how it influences others leaves no doubts as to their leader's intent. Florian Royale The M.A.L.L.The Massively Automated Licensing League has had a not insignificant share in Buster City’s economy for… longer than the lifespan of most denizens of Buster City. The details that matter are that their heartland in the city is a massive district that is itself a city of sorts, a vast ocean of restaurants, stores, department chains, and other centers of frequent commerce and luxury that people are wont to visit, no matter their walk of life or arbitrary motivation. It is a thriving place, and likely always to thrive, given the sheer necessity of such services. StrandJitterbugAlthough the Jitterbug stationed at 4th and Cross is far and away the most popular iteration, the chain is less of a chain and more of a leviathan, an inescapably large juggernaut of caffeination and scrumptious pastries and general mid-morning delight that one can find at virtually every corner of Buster City, though especially within the M.A.L.L.'s own district. OriferLou - Bixir The Rainbow CovenSorcery, witchcraft, and the countless strains of magical practition has been a part of Buster City for as long as anyone can remember. Chief among these inluences is the Rainbow Coven, a colorful alliance of witches who represent their collective kin. Each coven within the larger group is devoted to a speciic discipline of magic, represented by a fundamental color. The Coven is an illusive and enigmatic group, more often keeping to themselves, often removed from Buster City proper... so long as the city pays them the same respect.
